Chapter XVII:
For Lack of a Better Title… ~Kaia
Kaia looked around her “room”. It had been
her room since she could remember. The smell of chemicals seemed like any other
“homey” smell that any other person could relate to. She had just been told by
many of the other people at the lab that there was an escape route planned out
for them, and to meet them in the Rec Room. Her job was quite simple. She had
to go to the Rec Room, grab one of the younger children, go through the secret
corridor and fly over the fence. It sounded pretty easy, but the security in
this lab was so incredibly hard to breach, this would be no simple task.
I guess these wings do come in handy, even if they are a pain in my butt.
She looked at the clock. Ahh time to go. And so she set off to help free a child.
Kaia opened the door to find--surprise of surprises--about 5 guards at her
door. Oh, and I thought this would be easy. *sigh* “Ok boys. Just going to the bathroom. Don’t freak.” They just nodded,
and let her pass. I didn’t know that guards could be so stupid. Kaia
snickered at that thought.
Kaia headed toward the Rec Room when the head scientist stopped her. “So how do
you like the wings and added sight?” he said.
“Oh they would be great if I ever got to use them.” What else could go
wrong?
“I want to run some tests on you right now, so could you come with me to the
lab?”
I guess I shouldn’t have asked that question. Groaning, she followed him
for some distance, and right before she went through the double doors of the
lab, she turned and bolted toward her original destination. As Kaia ran, she
felt herself being drawn to the ground, and as she looked down, she saw herself
go through the floor as if it were water. Her last thoughts consisted primarily
of: What the hell?!
*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*~*
When the blackness had subsided, Kaia
opened her eyes to see a vast body of water, and to realize that she was
rapidly falling toward it. I believe now would be a good time to learn how
to fly. And thinking so, she spread her wings and flapped. Hey it
worked!!!! Ha! Ha! Who is good?! Just then she began to fall again and she
decided now would be a good time to fly away from the water and search for some
life forms.
After flying for about two hours, Kaia thought she saw another person. No
wait…another group of people and…things, which looked like small friendly
dinosaurs. Ok…this is a little odd. Oh well, better see if they’re real.
So she nose dived to the ground, accidently lost
control, and fell right in front of who she would come to know as Mazzic 36. He somehow reminded her of all of the men who
“escorted” her places.
Dammit! I thought I was rid of these guys!
I guess I didn’t get as far away from the lab as I thought.
Hopping up she assumed a defensive stance and shouted, "You'll never take
me alive! I'll take you all"
Though disturbed greatly by this outburst, all Mazzic
said was, "I'm Mazzic36, nice to meet you too."
