Chapter XL: Lost and Left Behind ~Redaz

Redaz stood at the edge of a forest. At least he thought it was a forest, he couldn't tell with all the thrashing.
Let me explain. Redaz had appeared on a barren landscape, he'd seen a few people he recognized, the odd fellow called Kyanosa, but he'd gone off with a person who'd fallen out of one of the many odd vortexes that were appearing all over the area. Redaz looked into a few of them, resulting in a sensation of his neck being stretched over billions of light-years and smeared across infinity, while remaining just the way it was. He didn't see anything that looked interesting on the other side though, and he had felt like he was being sucked in, so he had to pull his head back. He'd stood in the same place for a while watching his surroundings. Vast expanses of the horizon and ground around him phased in and out of different forms. About fifteen minutes ago the odd forest had appeared directly in front of Redaz. The trunk split into several branches, which in tern split into more and smaller branches. None of this made the forest exceptionally stange. What did was that the whole forest was pink. Also each of the branches writhed and squirmed like a tentacle. Also, the whole forest was pink. As Redaz stared into the forest, he noticed that even the trunks of the trees seemed to sway, dispite the lack of a breeze.
Redaz was holding a twig in his hand, once again he couldn't be sure. When the forest had appeared, one branch had repeatedly lashed at his head, after a few minutes, he whipped out his sword and lopped off the offending limb. It had writhed on the ground for a moment, then crawled along the ground, under Redaz's robe, and despite the lack of mouth, jaw or teeth, Redaz swore it had tried to bite him. So now he held it in his hand where it lashed at his wrist, which was only slightly less irritating than when it hit his head.
Suddenly Redaz saw a form lumbering through the odd forest. The creature was hunched over but was still two heads taller than redaz. As the creature grew closer, Redaz saw that it was completely green. It could have held Redaz's head in it's massive hand, which had veins rinning down it that looked like those on a leaf. It's hair was like grass that had grown forever, streaming down it's back and it rustled as the hulk walked. Around it's waist was what looked like a skirt of palm leaves, except that there was no rope or sting to hpld the leaves together, and the stems didn't seem to end, so much as come out of the creatures torso. Finally, coming out of the middle of it's large face, was a long horn, slightly curved up and ending in a flattened and fanned out tip.
In the strange thing's left hand hung the body of a piglike creature, it's head hung at an odd angle and it didn't move in the shambling form's grasp. Redaz had summoned the elemental when he had started to get hungry, and had thougt it lost. It stopped in front of him and dropped the dead beast at his feet, then looked at him. Redaz returned it's blank, emotionless stare.
"Is that a real forest?" Redaz asked nodding to the landscape behind the elemental. It slowly shook it's head. "Thought not," Redaz said simply, "Wonder what it is," he paused and looked at his summoned companion, who merely stared back at him, "Well, I guess i'll need some wood for a fire. And i can't use any of that squirming stuff," Redaz gestured at the forest with the little tentacle in his fist. "Oh! could you get rid of this for me?"
He held out his hand, the elemental grasped the thing, and almost all of redaz's hand as well. It turned around slowly to face the forest of tentacles, it drew its arm back, and with a speed it had not yet displayed, hurled the little pink thing completely over the forest and beyond. "Okay then," Redaz turned to look out on the smae barren landscape that had been there when he first arrived, possibly more than that, "where do I find some wood?"
