Chapter XLIII: The End ~Mazzic

It had been a long time since anyone had really considered what being on a dying planet meant. But with the recent rumblings and explosions that began to rock the land it came to the forefront of their minds rather quickly.

Essentially it comes down to this:
1. Most people will die in the initial explosion, assuming that the core of the planet becomes unstable and blows up.
2. Those who don't die in said explosion, or if the planet merely crumbled rather than exploded, will be either jetissoned into space by the rapid gravity flux, or torn to pieced by flying debris.
3. Any survivors will die of solar exposure.

All in all, death is imminant and a few of the Zolott wanderers wept in sheer disbelief.

"Something should have been able to be done! We can't die here like this!" They shouted, but it was no use, they knew it was only a matter of time, and then it would be all over.

Then, against all odds, hope arrived. Mazzic, Kyanosa, Kaye and Kaia crested the rise and found everyone gathered together in one place. Running to the middle of the group, they shared their story, and learned from all the others what had happened as well, leaving about 5 minutes to get off the doomed rock and get home.

Reaching into his pocket, Mazzic pulled out the device that CR had given him in the early chapters of the story, a miniature teleportation device, that could be used to go nearly everywhere in the multiverse. Mazzic explains, "The field around Zolott is both magical and physical in nature, and manages to distort one's view of the distances and trajectory needed to leave the planet through magical means, like a large mirror it reflects the energies back toward the ground and you appear somewhere else on the planet rather than home. Electronics however, are hampered by a dense magnetic field that manage to have the same effect as the magical shieling.

"However, by using the data collected by the professor during his stay, it is possible that we can reprogram this device to allow an easy port away to another planet where our situation is not as dire," pausing, Mazzic cracks his knuckles, "and we can force our way onto a transport if necessary."

The professor turned around a bit flustered by the new pressure, there was exactly 4 minutes left, and while on Dragon Ball Z, that will take 4 chapters, here it will be through in one. Taking the device he gently unscrews a lid and reveals a complex computer behind it as well as a nuclear battery and a mess of wires; working swiftly he reverses the polarization, and adds a correction constant to the navigational system and sets it up to beam them to his home world, as he knows where that is relative to here.

"Ready to go?"

"
Just get us off of here already! It's time for the planet to blow up!"

BB presses the button, and nothing happens...

"Give me that," Mazzic growls. Proceeding to jam the button into the device as far as it would go, he shakes it around a bit and laughs as they begin fading from their current possitions. "Works for everything from toasters to high-tech machinery."

The Planet did finally explode, in a beautiful anime-esque ball of brilliant light, but everyone managed to get to the Prof's lab, from which he proceeded to send everyone to their homes. A few people who didn't have homes went to Earth, including Mazzic, Kaye, Kyanosa and Kaia. And at last, there was a semblance of peace, though only a short one, for in five eventless years the fates would once again demand the presence of a few stout warriors to take down a greater evil than had ever been faced before.
