Chapter VIII - Return of the Man with the Metal Pants ~Kyanosa

It was a beautiful sunny day. Okay, so that's a lie. It was so overcast that the sky had turned white and wind was whipping audibly through branches. I say branches because there were trees. I'm not that stupid. Our current setting is an open field in a beautiful park on an otherwise nice fall day. In the middle of the field stood a young man, sliding back and forth and swinging a sword in a slow, refined manner. He wore what he usually did, as stated in the profile which shouldn't be mentioned here because it's out of character, but wasn't attracting the usual funny looks from other passers-by. Probably because there were no passers-by that day. The reason for this is uncertain to this day. I blame C.R. The young man paid little attention to the emptiness of the field. He hardly even looked up when the breeze really kicked in. He did, however, notice when the train pulled up next to him. He didn't run away scared, though, nor did he stand there at a loss for words. He didn't try to call for help or even look at the train more closely. He simply stood there, stuck his sword to his back, and waited for something to happen.

For this was Kyanosa Canopus, dimension-hopper, Havering survivor, and freak extraordinaire. And God, was he bored.

A door opened in the side of the train, and out stepped C.R. himself. I won't describe him, because I'm afraid I'll get something wrong, but sufficed to say he was there.

Kyanosa waved and grinned.

"Of course it'd be you. And hi."

C.R. smiled back.

"It wouldn't normally be me, but the guy we sent to talk to our last enlistee had a few...problems."

He glanced back inside.

Kyanosa nodded, "I understand. I had peanut butter yesterday. What are we doing this time?"

"Long story. We'll tell you inside. It'll be a long trip, so do try not to jump on the other passengers."

"You know I wouldn't do that. Not before checking for marbles."

"Wow. Rational thought. You've grown since we last spoke."

Kyanosa shrugged, "Nah, I just lie better."

"Shall we go?"

"What the hey. Let's go burn things."

He ran straight at C.R., jumped over him, landed on his hands, and pushed off the ground in a perfect flip that sent him right into the Spectrum. And apparently right through it, as C.R. heard a distinct metal clink that signified Kyanosa's ramming into the far side of the train's interior.

"Ow."

C.R. huffed and stepped back in, wondering if Kyanosa would object to being simply tied to the back of the train during the trip. Incidentally, he would not, but there wasn't any rope long enough to satisfy the other passengers.

This trip is so gonna rock.
