Chapter IX - What's More Fun
than Writing an English Paper? ~Kaye
You think they'd tell you college takes up even more of your time then high school. Kaye thought to herself as she printed out her 20-page English paper. It was the last thing she had to do for this semester of college, and was due the next day.
She stood up and stretched as the printer rattled a few times, and continued printing.
Now I have the whole summer ahead of me, to do nothing.
The Arcanian sighed and looked out the window. She blinked and looked again, but even then she wasn't sure she saw what she was seeing. Unless trains were supposed to float outside third story windows. The door on the side of the train opened and a figure appeared in the doorway. A tall orange lizard to be exact.
"Who are you?" Kaye asked. "And why is there a train floating outside my window?"
Suddenly there was a loud crash from inside the train, followed by some very naughty words. The man rubbed his forehead with his palm and sighed.
"You don't happen to have any extra rope do you?"
"You brought a train up here to ask me that?"
"No. You've been to Zolott haven't you?"
Kaye nodded, only vaguely remembering the time she'd spent on the planet.
"I am CR."
"CR? I think I've heard of you. I think someone said once that you were some kinda of annoying gossip, or…"
CR coughed.
"In any case. Your services are once again needed."
"Really? Wait here a minute."
Kaye spun around and grabbed a backpack. Last time she'd gotten dragged away without being asked first, and this time she was going to bring all the things she wished she'd had on the first trip.
"Hey, Beth. Can you turn in my English paper for me? It's in the printer," she called out the door.
"Sure," the voice floated back to her.
Kaye walked back over to the window. CR was gone from the door of the train, and there were a few more crashes.
"Can't we just throw him out?" a female voice asked.
"CR could just wipe him from existence. There'd be less questions," another said.
"Excuse me," Kaye said.
CR appeared at the door again. "You ready now?"
Kaye nodded.
"I don't suppose that's Kyanosa in there?"
CR blinked.
"Actually it is."
A smile crept across Kaye's face. It was not a friendly smile, but more of a mischievous one. She turned from the window and grabbed a bag from her dresser and a coil of rope from her closet. She tossed the rope to CR. He sighed in relief as Kaye walked through the air to the train and stepped inside.
