Chapter XX - That Good Ol' Paranoia Feeling ~Jade
Jade lay awake under the starry
night. The others silently slept, or at least she was sure they were asleep
from the soft, soothing breathing sounds she heard. It was quite late now: the
sky was a crimson blue, painted with tiny speckles of bright stars. She gazed
up at them, her mind amidst them...
She scratched her head silently
and mumbled to herself. She didn't trust any of these freaks around her. Their
species ranged from warm-blooded Yoshies to weird-looking robots. She had been
keeping an eye on them all, watching them in case there were any false moves.
The one that interested her most was that Scilas…she
could tell he was an assassin of some sort; quiet and ominous but extremely
powerful…she didn't trust him the most. Of course it was regular of Jade to not
trust anyone.
"I'll keep an eye on that one..." she muttered, her two front hair bangs hung over her face, which was shadowed out in the darkness, leaving a mysterious air to her mood.
Her tail was curled up
comfortably as she brushed her right hand against the scar on her face. Her
claw tips softly traced the permanent badge of shame, as she continued to think
to herself. But…she had that feeling that she was being watched.
She despised that feeling. Someone's feeble eyes dared to look at her, watching her every move. It made her growl in annoyance when she felt this feeling because it also brought on a feeling of helplessness....
Helplessness. Weak. Alone.
She hated and despised those
words. And she hated it even more that these words bothered her. They were
just... words. Weren't they?
She snapped out of her senseless
thinking and ran her long reptile tongue over her fangs. Her mouth was dry, as
she was thirsty. Her unexpected trip left her exhausted. She had already been
captured by weird Archon things, frozen in a cell, and captured by giant ugly
bugs. She was tired beforehand, as well, and needed to get a longer rest to be
at full power.
She slowly got up and looked around the campsite.
"Thought I saw a pond of some sort not far..."
She brushed a strand of hair out
of her face and floated gently towards an underbrush
of weird plants. At least she thought they were plants...this was her
first time going into space and she would only look out for one person: herself.
Although...she had to thank that horrid human for saving her.
Her thoughts drifted away as she disappeared not too far away into the underbrush. She would find some water for herself and nobody else, and she'd keep her eyes open all the way. Avoiding any onlookers…
