Chapter XXV - Revealing the
Dream ~Rynn
Rynn was in the passanger part of the train, her back against the window, Kai in her lap. He was making noises and smiling up at his mother, his ice blue eyes shining. She smiled back at him, ruffling his tiny shock of ice blue hair. Naaro wandered over to her after a short conversion with Lich. She noted that something about him seemed...well...off.
"Sit down, love. Talk to
me."
Naaro
looked over at her, sighing, "What's there to say?"
Rynn tilted her head at him, and even Kai grew quiet.
"Ka,
" she said, using the Drakoni word for
soul, "You haven't been the same since last night. Now tell me what has you so troubled."
He nodded, and took Kai from her
arms, rocking the little one. The babe smiled up at his father. "Just a
dream I had."
She nodded, "Go on."
She moved closer and lay her hand on his arm.
"It all started with a vision I had while we slept."
He went on to explain what he'd
seen, rather haltingly. A strange, red world, sky scorched by millennia upon
millennia of war...the living dead roaming the battlefields like herds of
cattle...great temples of dark power, rising above the war-torn, lifeless
wasteland...and in the middle of it all, a being of evil, the epicenter of the
planet's devastation. Rynn gasped as he went on.
"I decided to enter the Void
for answers, and was left with more questions. A strange man told me to turn
back, and when I pressed him for more answers, he forced me back. That's why it
was so hard to wake me this morning. The tie to the Void was severed and it
knocked me out cold."
Rynn nodded, thoughtful. Perhaps this was a sign of some sort. She glanced down at Kai, and smiled. He was asleep. Gently she took him and gave her husband a kiss on the cheek.
"Perhaps you should see the
fellow by the name of C. R. He seems very wise. Perhaps he can reveal
more," she told him. "But, who are all these people? And how do you
know so many?"
Naaro smiled. "Well...perhaps I shall tell you, my angel."
She sat back as he began his tale about the others.
