Chapter XXXIV - Just to Pass
the Time ~Kaye
"I think it's more or less impossible for it to be quiet with this many people in a train." Kaye replied to Mazzic. "But if we're going to try and relax…"
She paused, pulling her backpack onto her lap and shifting through it.
Mazzic looked at her slightly puzzled.
"You hungry?"
She passed a sandwich wrapped in seran wrap to him.
I know I packed them. I wish
I'd had a little more time to organize. Ha!
She pulled her hand out of the bag proudly clutching a small box.
"More food?" Mazzic asked.
"Nope. Playing cards."
"Are you kidding?"
"Well, I think I've got travel Monopoly in here somewhere too," Kaye replied.
"Um…no. That's okay."
"So, are we playing poker?"
Kyanosa had somehow managed to untie himself faster than last time. Kaye made a mental note to use different knots next time.
"We need a few more players. Hey, Prism…" Kaye called. She could sense the Yoshi was thinking heavily about something, and maybe she could use a little fun, but the multi colored woman didn't seem to hear her as she headed towards the sleeping quarters.
"How about you, Jade?"
"Not on your life," the Koopa replied.
Kaye frowned slightly. There were so many people with heavy thoughts on their minds. It wasn't good to worry about things all the time. Especially if there wasn't anything you could do about it at the moment. Kaye pulled the cards out of the pack and began to shuffle them.
"Excuse me," she said to the rest of the contents of the room. She blushed slightly when they all looked up. She had never been very good talking to large groups. "Um…does anyone else want to play cards?"
"We're playing poker," Kyanosa announced proudly.
