Chapter XLVII - The Benefits of Neosporin ~Kaye

Everyone in the Spectrum stared at the open door for a few minutes without talking. Once the initial shock was over, there was random cheering from some of the occupants of the inter-dimensional train, while others got back to their normal routine of whatever they had been doing a few minutes before.

Mazzic, on one hand, couldn't figure out whether to shut the door Kyanosa had left open upon leaving the train. He was still convinced it was some kind of joke, and as soon as he moved to close the door, Kyanosa would jump out from his hiding place, and reboard the train.

Kaye, on the other hand, had lifted her partially squished backpack with a flick of her hand (the good one) and put it in a corner out of the way, ignoring the fact that blood was dripping from the dozens of cuts on her hand. She then proceeded towards the glowing male/female sign that depicted the bathroom.

She pushed the door open (again with her good hand) to see a navy blue skinned dragon with brown hair, running water over her arm.

"Oh, hi." Kaye said. "I don't think we've met yet. I'm Kaye."

"Rynn," The other woman said.

"I'd shake your hand, but let me get the glass out first," Kaye said.

Rynn blinked and looked down at Kaye's hand, which was still dripping blood at an even pace.

"Oh, what happened?"

"I fell," Kaye replied. "And the hand landed on a bit of glass."

The Arcanian stuck her hand over the sink, and turned on the faucet with the other hand. She bit her lip as the water ran over the wound, washing off the blood, as well as most of the glass pieces, which had not deeply embedded themselves. Once the blood had all washed away, Kaye found, and carefully extracted the other pieces of glass using her powers.

"Much better," she said finally.

Then she placed her hand under the still running water and whispered a spell: "Waters of healing, bind skin anew."

Immediately the wounds closed themselves, stopping the blood flow. She did not fully heal them however, because wounds healed completely with water, did not heal as thoroughly as those left to heal on their own.

"Well, that's handy." Rynn said.

Kaye nodded, only then noticing the mark on the dragon's arm, which was what she had been running the water over. It looked like some kind of burn, and by the color of scales surrounding it, (the blue scales had a slight red tint to them) it looked like a burn of some kind.

"Your arm okay?"

"Yeah. Just a little burn, nothing to worry about," Rynn said.

"Oh, well if you want me to make it stop hurting, just tell me," Kaye said. "But for now I've got something I have to do."

Rynn nodded. "See you later."

Kaye pushed her way out of the bathroom, and back to the main part of the Spectrum. She shuffle through her backpack, ignoring the items that had been squished, until she found the first aid kit.

"Is your hand okay?" Mazzic asked.

Kaye nodded. "Just putting a little Neosporin on it."

She squeezed some of the gel onto the partially healed cuts on her hand, and then wrapped a thin protective bandage around the whole thing. With that done, Kaye packed the first aid kit away and swung the pack onto her shoulders. The Arcanian then moved towards the still open door.

"Wait, where are you going?" Mazzic asked.

"Where do you think?" Kaye replied, and disappeared out of the Spectrum.
