Chapter XLIX - Short Post: A
First! ~Multehx
He moved silently aside in the tree. Jaded noticed the two new visitors in the area, and had felt the shockwave of the explosion. Deciding it was getting too hot for him, he leapt gracefully to another branch, ran along it, leapt to another, flipped to a third then stopped. He turned to see another figure on the branch, leaning against the tree.
It was definately built like a man, wore standard dark blue ninja gear, had a katana in a scabbard on a red cloth belt, and a yellow scarf with exotic designs, and a few strange sigils on it. He nodded once.
"Scilas."
The assassin nodded back and sat on the tree branch, leaning on the tree still, with his legs bent slightly, his hands resting on each other with his arms around his legs.
"It's been a bit..." Scilas commented.
Jaded took a seat as well, dangling his legs. "Yes, it has." He looked over. "Since hunting down D'hran, right?"
Scilas nodded his head slowly. "Yes..D'Nel's old man. We got divided around the bar on Shoruhn."
Both looked at the ground for a bit, then Scilas looked back up.
"You ever hunt him down and close the deal?"
Jaded half smirked behind his bandana. "We were partners for twelve years...what do you think?" Jaded grinned behind his mask. "I thought so. I wanted to ace such a skillful thief."
"Must have been a challenge. Never found him or caught up with you, but I bare no grudge."
Jaded stood up and folded his arms. "You know the code. A mercenary never waits up when it means endangering the job."
"Yes, I know. It didn't quite fit me, so I quit and became an assassin."
"Right.....say…isn't that the kid's jacket you're wearing?"
Scilas chuckled and nodded, fixing the collar of the red jacket. "Yes, it is. Lifted it for fun during an encounter on Parallel Earth against him and the robot with the boy and the other robot. Tall gold one, Havoc."
Jaded nodded, hesitated, then spoke up. "Is..the train clear…by chance?"
Scilas
stood. "Yes…’cept for the Watcher, Omega, Havoc,
the Hoshi, the clone, and the boy...and I doubt the first or the last would
mind hiding you...as the first probably knows this all, and the last...well...he's
got
his own agenda."
Jaded nodded as Scilas got to his feet. "Then, let's get to work. I have my reasons for stowing away..."
Scilas leapt to the next tree. "As I guessed." he said before they continued.
Getting back to the Spectrum was easy. Pulling a smuggling on board was even easier. The beds were just high enough off the ground for Jaded. He grinned to himself as the door shut.
"Pay off…here Jaded comes!"
