Chapter LII - A Secret to
Hide, or Flying Pan Field at
Ian glanced up. It seemed to be Mazzic and Prismaya returning. He stopped whistling "Winchester Cathedral" and went back to fixing a cupboard handle. Having adjusted it, he walked over to Mazzic.
"Anything I can do, sir?" he asked.
Mazzic
said no and dismissed him.
He walked over to Prism, who was looking out the passenger car window and asked the same thing.
She looked surprised and said "Uh...no thanks?"
He nodded and began to walk away. He stopped to fix the rug, and then continued into the engine. CR and Omega looked over.
"Ah, Ian, good boy, what brings you in here?" CR asked.
"I don't really know..."
Ian scratched his head, looking over to the main scanner. "Anything
happening?"
Omega shook his head. "Not really. Just the scanner is picking up two new lifeforms. Mind going out and seeing what they are? Probably a rabite and a villager chasing it."
Ian nodded and proceeded out of the train. Across the way, approaching, were a capsule body-shaped blue and white robot with sunglasses, and a blond haired young man, wearing a red shirt, seemingly complaining to the robot. Ian groaned slightly as they neared. The robot stopped the young man and looked this new kid over.
The blond haired young man asked, "Excuse me, boy, do you know where we are?"
Ian replied abruptly, "Fa'Diel."
The young man looked to the robot, then back. "Well, think you could point out any towns hostile to us?" .
"Depends. Who are you two?"
The young man seemed to smile
cockily. "I, boy, am D'Nel Albright; soon to be
famous pirate of the multiverse! And this is my
sidekick, Ray Noh."
Ian put a finger to his chin, thinking. "Funny, I don't recall hearing anything of you two." He ignored Ray restraining D'Nel from pounding him in rage and went on. "So, I doubt the towns here have, since I tend to be well informed, and places like this…well...they're lucky if the lone paperboy doesn't forget he has a job to do." He shrugged. "Country bumpkins are odd."
D'Nel, who had reasonably calmed, cleared his throat. "Er-Hem, Yes, and do you thin-"
He was interrupted by Ray who cursed in a surprised voice. He had a strange hand held device pointed at Ian that the boy instantly knew provided read outs of someone's abilities and power.
He frowned and harshly whispered, "Yes, the results are no lie, and you will not mention those results to ANYONE!"
To make sure of this, he took the scanner, removed the batteries, hurled them into the bushes and handed it back. He paused, then handed over several silver coins with odd markings, the "Centos", a type of currency from one planet.
"Take this cash and get lost
you two." he rasped.
As the ne'er-do-wells ran off, he fixed his cloak, and proceeded back to the Spectrum.

Prism sat in her usual spot. Her eyes were not fixed on the surroundings of the train as usual...oh no, she focused on something far more interesting: the human boy. No, not that one. Ian. He constantly ran about, doing this or that, not resting once. In fact, she had yet to see him sit down, let alone retire to the sleeping quarters.
He's more than what he appears to be, she thought to herself, before realizing that she once thought the same about another.
She shrugged it off, and asked
the boy for a drink. She received it almost instantly, before the boy moved on
to the next car. She looked towards Lich, who seemed to be in a rather bored
daze. "Do you know anything about him?"
"Hmm?"
Lich blinked, snapping out of it.
"Ian," The Hoshi said
in a soft whisper. "Do you know anything about him?"
"Not a thing," the orange Yoshi replied with a yawn. "Though you would think he'd want some sleep by now."
They watched as Ian returned to
their car, going about his business. To remain inconspicuous, Lich picked up a
random magazine (Unfortunately, I believe it was Cosmopolitan), and began
reading it...but Prism continued to stare at the boy. After a short period of
time, he noticed, and turned to her with a smile.
"Do you need something, Princess?" he asked politely.
Prism frowned and crossed her arms.
"Shouldn't you get some rest?" she asked. "It's not healthy for anyone to stay awake this long...especially humans."
The last part had been tacked on
due to the age-old Yoshian belief that humans are
lazy, as they once used their kind as a transportation animal.
"I'm fine," Ian replied cheerfully, before going back to whatever he was doing.
Prism huffed slightly, before asking:
"Who are you
anyway?"
Ian stopped what he was doing, turned back to Prism, and simply smiled, leaving the Hoshi rather frustrated as he once again turned and went about his business.
Prism stared at him suspiciously,
before leaning towards Lich and whispering, "He's hiding something."
"Either way," the Yoshi replied, "We're not gonna find out any time soon. Hey, according to this 'hot guy' quiz, I'm a 7 on a scale of 1 to 10!...though I think the question regarding the size of my nose kinda threw it off."
He frowned contemplatively, as Prism rolled her eyes and once again looked out the window.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Ian mentally groaned as he re-entered and cleaned the table. The Yoshi and Hoshi were getting suspicious. He smiled politely as he stood...but curiosity got the better of him.
"Say…" he began,
"if you knew him, who was the bloke who owned the gun and what was he
like??"
Prism thought, and was first to
speak up. "Well, his name was Multehx707, and he was a rather strong
fellow..." she paused, coughing slightly. She didn't notice Ian slightly
smile. She continued. "...he was quite unlike anyone I had ever met
before...and quite helpful on numerous journeys..."
Ian nodded, hiding a smile, "Yes, is that all?"
She nodded, and he walked from
the car into the engine. CR looked over and nodded. He was in the process of
picking up a flaregun. He directed Omega to activate
a setting on the train. The robot flicked on a red switch, and immediately, the
train rose from the ground and started to move, as well as activating a strong
magnetic field around it. CR fired the flare out the window, then
threw a small metal device, much like a watch, out it, and somewhere onto the
horizon. As the train kept a nice speed to it, avoiding a hail of pans and the
like flying behind it, Scilas leapt out the door,
vanished for a bit, and leapt back in holding Saph on
one shoulder and Kaye on the other, Jade next to Saph.
He sat them on the floor, then stepped aside as Ratch
(drawn by the field), flew in through the door, crashed into the wall, and slid
to the ground.
The metal of the armor in 6400's
chest armor made him next. He crashed in next to the robot, also sliding to the
floor dazed. Lich ran in, yelled something about a "Guardian Council, and
needing to attend with his brother", and leapt out the door. CR silently
wished them luck as the train gained altitude, and sped through a Rip Hole.
There was a slight delay as the train smacked into something metal, but it was gone before any of the passengers had time to wonder.
