Chapter LXIII: Run-in with the Pentastar ~Vector

Vector sat behind the controls of the Andromeda and sailed the ship through the void of space. Luckily, vector was familiar with the area, and knew where to go to find Zion. He still searched the controls for a hyperdrive, though. He had hoped on reaching Zion in mere minutes, instead of the several hours it was taking them. Rynn had already yelled at him for pulling a few stunts that only a fighter should do. Vector argued that he needed to know what the ship could do. Rynn argued that he was trying to kill Naaro. Vector had already mastered the basic controls, and found the weapons, and so was satisfied. He checked the navigation computer once more, and continued on his course.

Richter Sprint stood on the deck of the Pentastar and stared out into space. He had made it too late to Fa’diel and had somehow been teleported back onto his ship. To add injury to insult, the Spectrum had flown through the mammoth ship, damaging 3 decks, and killing 23 of his men. He scowled at the thought. He needed the Creation’s Weapon; his entire plan rested on that one device. He smiled, his mood lightened by the thought of finally controlling the entire yoshi species. His mission would be complete, and he’d be hailed as a hero to the empire. A young crewman turned from his station in the crew pit, and spoke up.
"Admiral Sprint! We have something on sensors, sir," the crewman said. "It looks like a small transport. Unknown design."
"Watch its moves, ensign," Richter said. "If it ignores all hailing frequencies, and tries to avoid us, move in to capture it. Do NOT destroy it. That is an order."
"Yes sir!" the crewman said. He turned back to his station, and tapped a few keys.
"That ship has Vector in it. I know it." Richter said to himself. "And with him out of the way, my job will be easier."

Vector woke up from his slumber at the controls by a beeping. He turned his attention to the crystalline control panel, and pulled up a report on the cockpit HUD. They were getting close to a ship. It was a very big ship. It was hailing them, and identified itself as the TIS Pentastar. That was bad news; if Richter found them, Vector would most likely be killed, Naaro and Rynn wouldn’t make it to Zion, and the creation weapon would fall into either Richter’s, or the twilighter council’s hands. That was a bad situation.
"Rynn! We have a slight problem!" vector yelled. Rynn made her way to the cockpit, and looked out the window.
"What is it, Vector," Rynn asked. "Is there anything wrong with the ship?"
"No. But there will be. A nine-mile-long battlecruiser is hailing us. It’s the Pentastar. My archenemy, Richter commands it. If he stops us, we’re all doomed.
"Well, can’t you avoid it," Rynn asked "or is it too fast?"
"Its not that it’s too fast," Vector said, "But that it can just stop us where we are, and reel us in like a dead fish."
"I see." Rynn said grimly. "Can you get past it?"
"I can try." Vector said, "But I can’t guarantee anything."
Vector pushed the throttle to full, and headed for the Pentastar as fast as the little ship could go.

"The ship ignored all attempts to hail it, and now its headed for us in what seems to be an attack." The crewman that had spotted the Andromeda said.
"Charge the tractor beams. I want that ship captured." Richter said.
"Aye-aye." The ensign replied. He made a signal across the bridge to the gunnery officer.
The Pentastar wheeled around in space, pointing itself at the Andromeda. It was nearly done charging its tractor beams when the smaller ship flew over the bridge, nearly hitting it, and then disappeared from all sensors.
"Its gone!" the ensign yelled.
"What do you mean, it’s gone?" Richter spat. "It couldn’t have just disappeared!"
"Well… It did, sir." The ensign said, his voice quaking with fear. "It must have a cloaking device."
"Hmm… That is entirely possible." Richter said thoughtfully. "Pay it no mind. Resume previous course. Enter hyperspace on my mark."

The Andromeda sat perched on top of the Pentastar’s sensor antenna. The Pentastar began moving, and the little craft floated off of the larger one. The battlecruiser elongated, and jumped into hyperspace, leaving the Andromeda alone in the void. Its engines kicked back on, and it continued on its way to Zion.
