Chapter LXXXVIII: The Mysterious Meister Strager ~Naaro

Naaro leapt out of the boat on a hoverbike of some sort, trying to reach the home of the man who built Red Midas, Dr. Yoszhi von Denker, and get himself a new mobile suit. He looked up and saw a few pods dropping from the sky around him. *Great,* he thought, *the attack's already started!* He kept going, eventually catching sight of a white building resembling half a golfball. He drove up and hopped off the hoverbike, not paying any attention to the shots raining behind him from the force attacking Karmalia.

"Dr. Denker!" he cried as he rushed in. The doctor responded in his German accent. "Ah, hello, Herr Karukylis! Velcome to my lab. I have zumzing for you." Naaro smiled. "Great! Is it a new Gundam?" Denker looked at Naaro and shook his head. "No, it iz not ze Goondahm...it iz ze Zolstiz-Type Mobel Zoot." Naaro blinked. "What? Zolstiz-Type? What do you mean, doctor?" "I mean, ze Zolstiz-Type Mobel Zoot. More powerful zahn ze Goondahm," the doctor replied. Naaro gave Denker another strange look. "How can this...Solstice-Type Mobile Suit be more powerful than a Gundam?" Dr. Denker stroked his chin for a minute, then walked over to the wall. As he walked, a blast shook the lab. Naaro was knocked off-balance a bit, but maintained his footing. *Hurry up, Dr. Denker,* he thought, getting a bit impatient. The doctor then tossed a radioactive suit to Naaro. He caught it, and gave the doctor a strange look. "Put it on, Naaro," Denker, said, continuing, "Ve are goink in."

Once both Naaro and the doctor had put on their radioactive suits, the doctor walked over to an airlock door and pressed a button on it. He then walked into the small room with another door on the opposing side. Naaro followed, and the first door shut behind them. "Be very cautious, Mr. Karukylis...zis Mobel Suit iz very radioactive," Denker said as he prepared to open the second door. Naaro nodded, and Denker opened the door, pressing in a few commands on the wall panel. The two entered to see before them a mobile suit light and dark blue in color, with red and yellow in some places. It had a head resembling that of a hawk, with two spiked crests, one longer, one shorter, jutting into the air. "Zis is it, Naaro," Denker said, gesturing with his hands to the mobile suit in a grand manner. "Interesting...why is it so radioactive, doctor?" Naaro asked. "Ze Zolstiz Reactor it uses iz very powerful, and therefore produces lots of radioactive waves. Very deadly outside of a controlled area," Denker replied. Naaro sighed. "Well, how am I supposed to use it in combat then? If you haven't noticed, doctor, the planet's under attack." Denker chuckled. "Oh, do not worry, Mr. Karukylis, I have devised zumzing to control the radioactivity." With that, he walked over to the wall and pressed a few buttons on a panel. From the floor rose a device with two pincer-like extensions designed to go over the area between the suit's shoulders and head. They were mostly dark blue in color, with two large yellow bumps right near where the head would be. The device rose until it was high enough to be mounted, and was then lowered onto the mobile suit's body. It snapped on perfectly. Denker then pressed a few more buttons, and waited for a few minutes. The device was making several whirrs and bleeps. After his waiting was done, he said, "Ok, you can take off your zoot now." Naaro gave the doctor a strange look, took a deep breath, and depressurized the helmet of his radioactive suit, lifting it...

To his surprise, Naaro didn't receive any radioactivity at all. He looked over at Denker, who had also removed his helmet. "Wh...what happened?" he asked. Denker replied, "Ze Geiger pack happened. It iz a device that controls ze output of ze Zolstiz Reactor zo zat it may leave zis area." "Not bad, doctor," Naaro complimented, looking up at the mobile suit. He got out of his suit and began to walk toward it when Denker called out to him. "Stop," he called, "you can't touch it without radioactive protection!" Naaro stopped, and looked back at Denker. "Eh? Why?" he asked. "Ze Geiger pack does not control ze radiation running over ze Mobel Zoot's zurface," the doctor replied. "Put your radioactive zoot back on, and you may touch it zafely." Naaro complied, and then walked back over to the mobile suit. "Thanks, doctor," he said as he leapt up into the open cockpit. He sat down, and just before he closed the door, he remembered something. "Dr. Denker, can this mobile suit hail intergalactically?" Denker nodded. "Yez, zat feature has been added." "Great!" Naaro exclaimed. "Once again, thanks doc, this is a big help." Naaro closed up the cockpit. He then noticed two weapons coming out of the wall to his left. "You might need zem," the doctor called to him through the radio. Naaro nodded, giving a quick "Alright" through the radio. He grabbed the first one, a long heat saber, and attached it to his left shoulder. He could tell by the wireframe of the mobile suit on his control panel that it was designed to hold the long heat saber in the left shoulder, and to hold the rifle, a micronuclear cannon, in the left hand. He took the other weapon, the cannon, from the wall, and the roof above him opened. He took off into the sky. It was then that 4 Vipers fired their hyperlasers at him.

"Yeow!" Naaro cried as he barely dodged the shots. He landed, and then tried to figure out his weapons. He had planned to do so upon launching, but apparently the attackers were closer than he had expected. Naaro scrambled to dodge the blasts of the Vipers as he checked out his weapons. A hyperlaser grazed the suit's left arm, doing almost no damage, but causing enough turbulence for the micronuclear cannon to fly out of its hand. Naaro turned the suit in the direction of the hyperlaser only to be struck from behind by two more. The suit fell to the ground, and the 4 Vipers began closing in. He was pinned down. Naaro tried to move the arms of the suit, but they wouldn't budge. "Damnit," he cursed as the Vipers closed in and prepared to fire...

*Shhlnk!* The sound spread across the field as one of the Vipers was cut in two. Something very fast and very hot had pierced its tough armor as if it were nothing. "What the hell?!" the leader of the Viper squad cried out over his radio to his subordinates. Both gave him an equally-shocked reply, and then another of the group was sprayed with a flurry of 80mm bullets. It fell. Suddenly, one of the remaining two Viper pilots caught sight of their attacker. "Up in the sky!" he cried through his radio, aiming and firing a hyperlaser. It was a blue mobile suit, with a radio antenna and two horns on its head. On its back were 4 variable-position thrusters in the shape of a cross. In addition to those, it also had several other thrusters. On its left arm was a small shield depicting a skull wearing an eyepatch, and in its right hand was a yellow scimitar-like blade. The pilot let out a chuckle, and easily dodged the hyperlaser shot. "Greetings boys! 4 on 1 isn't fair odds, ya know...now that it's even, we can start to play!" Both Vipers then opened up on the mobile suit, which easily dodged the shots.

By this time, Naaro had gotten back on his feet, and picked up his micronuclear cannon. He looked over at the Vipers, then the mobile suit in the sky. The Vipers seemed distracted enough. He tried to find some sort of guide on the weapons, and within a minute he found it. After 4-5 minutes of speed-reading, Naaro finally had the weapons down, as well as the suit's name and designation, the 'STMS-66X Horus'. "Time to even the odds," he said as he took aim with the micronuclear cannon. He pulled the trigger on the arm controller, and at first, nothing happened. He sighed in frustration. Then, however, the controller began to shake. The arm was shaking as well. Waves of energy began to shoot across the surface of the arm holding the cannon, and the cannon itself began to charge up, glowing. The flow of energy across the arm became steadily more and more copious, and the arm controller began shaking more violently. After about a minute, there was a spark of blinding light at the barrel of the micronuclear cannon, and it fired.

Naaro looked on in shock as a gigantic laser was flung loose from the barrel. The Viper pilots turned to look, and their last words were screams as the beam turned them and their mechas into microscopic dust. A huge, blinding explosion followed, lasting for about 30 seconds. When it subsided, Naaro gaped at the crater. "Nice weapon..." he muttered as he kept his eyes fixed on the crater, taking it in. "Yes, quite nice indeed," he heard through the radio. "Huh? Who are you?" he replied. A chuckle came through, and then an answer. "Just call me Meister. Meister Straeger." Naaro nodded. "Why'd you help me?" he asked. Straeger replied, "Because 4 on 1 isn't fair odds. By the way, the planet's under attack by the Tairez Empire. You probably haven't heard of em, but anyways. I'm gonna go mess with em, you can come along if you like. Ciao." With those words, Meister Straeger and his J-Vector gundam took off at top speed, quickly disappearing from the scene. "Tairez Empire..." Naaro muttered. He thought maybe he had heard Vector mention them once or twice, but he wasn't sure. Either way, he considered it a good idea to call to the Spectrum for some help. He sent the intergalactic call, saying, "This is Naaro, Yoshin is under attack. Please send backup." He waited, then repeated. This went on for about 10 minutes, until he saw a massive explosion...it was in the direction of Yoshitopia. He took off at full speed, wondering what weapon had hit the small continent...
