Chapter XCII: Alara's Entrance ~Rynn
Rynn stood on top of a hill, overlooking a valley below. She had decided to bring Kai out, let him see some of the sites this world had to offer. He was in her arms, making noises as he looked around. Down below them was a small town and beyond that were some mountains. It was quiet and peaceful here. She rather liked it. She felt like she didn't have a care in the world.
"Well well well..." came a voice behind her. "What do we have here?"
Rynn turned, the voice sounding very familiar. In front of her stood a yoshi, long blonde hair flowing in the breeze that carressed Rynn's body. The new yoshi had purple skin and a ruby colored belly, with eyes to match. Wings spread out from her shoulders, colored the same way. Rynn's eyes went wide. Kai gurgled at the new arrival. "Alara..? Can it be you?"
Alara nodded. "Indeed, it is I. " A hint of malice flashed in her eyes. "And how is my former best friend?" She glanced down at Kai. "Ah...I see you have a child...Do I know the father?"
Former best friend? What did that mean? Did Alara think she left her to die? "I am fine, and no you don't know his father. But Alara...what do you mean, former best friend? I don't understand."
The amethyst colored yoshi sneered. "You don't remember how you left me to die?" she nearly screamed, then composed herself. It wouldn't do for her to act so childish.
Rynn shook her head. "No...It wasn't like that, Alara. I tried to save you...I even returned with more of our friends to save you...we just couldn't get back in. The whole temple closed up..." She looked at her, tears in her eyes. "I thought I had lost you..."
Alara sneered. "Well, here I am. In the flesh." She drew her sword. "Remember my servant, Synia, the one who gave you that burn?" Rynn glanced down at it and nodded. Kai had grown quiet. "Well, I am here to finish the job!"
Rynn screamed, trying to shield Kai with her body as Alara came rushing forward, her sword glowing. She dodged the attack at the last second. Alara growled. Rynn took to the air, firing a blast of fire down at Alara. Alara jumped back and opened her wings, taking to the air as well. "You forget, Rynn, I can fly as well!" With that, she launched an attack, firing ice shards at her enemy. Rynn dove and zigzagged, trying to dodge the shards. Kai was crying, clinging to Rynn's top.
She rubbed his back, trying to calm him a little. "Shhh..my little Tir. Mommy won't let the bad lady harm you." She turned and fired a blast of lightning at Alara, who meerly dove out of its way.
Alara shook her head. "Such a poor fighter, Rynn. I've had time to learn...It's all I had time to do," she said, launching another attack. More shards flew from her hands.
Rynn dipped and dove, trying to escape. Kai was crying harder now. She screamed in pain as a shard tore through her wing. Another shard tore through her other wing, and she started crashing down towards the ground. Kai's screams were louder. She wrapped her wings around him, trying to shield him as they fell.
Alara dove down for the kill. Suddenly Rynn vanished before her eyes and Alara pulled up. "How...? How did she do that?" she asked herself, looking around. Rynn was nowhere in sight.

Rynn, who had her eyes closed, opened her eyes as she felt a soft bed underneath her. She looked around. "Huh? What had happened?" She opened her wings. Kai was on her belly, still crying. At least he was fine. As she rubbed his back, she looked around again. Home. She was home. But how?
"Tir," she said softly," shhh...we're safe. We're home." Slowly Kai quit crying and looked around. He gurgled happily, loosening his grip on her tunic. She slowly sat up, and unhooked his hands from her shirt, and layed him on the bed. Her wings hurt and needed tended too. "Stay here, Kai." She walked into the bathroom, and using a few bandages, patched her wings. She walked around the house, looking for Naaro. He was nowhere to be found.
Going back into the bedroom, she picked Kai back up, and grabbed a blanket for him. She wrapped him up in it. "Ber," he gurgled, reaching past her. Rynn turned, to see the maroon bear on the dressing table. She smiled and handed him the bear. "Goober," he said, tighting his grip on the soft animal. She rewrapped him as he held the bear and went outside. She'd find Naaro if she had to travel all over Yoshin.
