Chapter CIII: The Thin Line Between Nobility and Idiocy ~Naaro
"Heh," Meister Straeger chuckled as his head vulcans tore through another Razorback. His J-Vector gundam was easily outmanuevering both the Razorbacks and the Viper mechs below, even outclassing the Auroras in manueverability. He turned as a formation of Razorbacks trained their sights on him and fired 3 shotgun rounds. The Razorbacks fell to the ground below, smoking and spinning. In the skies over Stardust City, the skies were darkened by the Razorbacks as if a swarm of locusts were descending upon the city to chew it to bits. That was almost accurate, as they were sieging the city quite well. Straeger trained his sights on 4 Vipers firing hyperlaser blasts at the city, and his chest panels opened, revealing J-Vector's 80mm drive cannon. The Vipers were quickly made into rubble by the high-velocity, high-powered bullets, and Straeger let out a chuckle. "You people would bring a tactician to tears," he jeered as he blasted another Razorback formation out of existence with his shotgun. Straeger had a look up in the high atmosphere, and could see two large warships in the sky. He shook his head, and said to himself, "Their soldiers might bring a tactician to tears, but their warships can definitely do a number on this planet..."
While this was going on, Stardragon and Horus were nearing the site of the military base where Naaro had left Halcyon on Yoshitopia. They could see a volcano cone-like formation in the distance. "That doesn't look good," Naaro said, analyzing the formation with his scanners. "There's a power source in the heart of this formation. It's intense...causes my scanners some strain," A.L.I.C.E. stated. Naaro nodded, and replied, "Alright, thanks A.L.I.C.E. 6400, Saph, the main battles are on North Yoshin around North Yoshin City and South Yoshin around Stardust City. You two go on ahead, I'll join you shortly. Good luck." "Alright Naar, see you on the battlefield," 6400 said as Naaro jumped off of Stardragon in Horus, landing at the base of the formation. Stardragon then took off and flew southeast according to A.L.I.C.E.'s reading indications. Naaro watched them fly off, then turned to the formation. He scaled it, wondering, *What happened here? Did a volcano decide to suddenly form right under the base or something? I'd think it'd be pumping out lava if that were the case...* He stopped Horus as close to the formation's top-hole as he could, and brought it into a kneel. He opened the hatch, and hopped out, walking a good distance away from Horus and removing his suit. He stowed it in a backpack he was carrying, and put it on, taking out Ocelot, extending it, and leaping into the hole, unaware of what lie below.
He landed on a strange platform that made a clang sound when he landed on it, like metal. He felt the platform..."Ow!" he cried, quickly drawing his hands away. It was hot, and definitely metallic. "Lumin Glow!" he cried, snapping his fingers. A ball of glowing heat energy appeared over his head, lighting the dark chamber. He had landed quite far down in the formation, and the sunlight could not reach him here. He looked at the floor, giving it a careful examination. He quickly located a large burn hole about twice his size, as well as several bodies immortalized in silent pain by strange obsidian shells. Several cabinets and other furniture were also frozen in the shells, their current state showing their drawers (if they had any) losing their contents to what must have been some titanic earthquake. *This is really, really weird...it looks like this all happened very fast. Hell, not just very fast, extremely fast...they're already encased in obsidian and I left here not more than a few hours ago,* Naaro thought, quite puzzled by what he was seeing. Mentally instructing the Lumin Glow spell to follow him, he leaped into the hole, descending into the next chamber.
After descending a good 4 chambers, he finally reached the heart of this strange labyrinth. His Lumin Glow spell was fading, so he could not see very well. His perception also gave him the feeling that this was quite a large room. Taking both of these into consideration, he cast a much more powerful Lumin Glow spell this time, and the entire room was illuminated. What he saw astounded him. 5 scientists gathered around a table, all frozen in obsidian coffins. They appeared to be working on something, and also appeared to be the first hit by whatever had caused the base personnel to be frozen in obsidian since they looked as if they never had known what had hit them. Naaro walked up to the table, and saw what was on it: the Halcyon. He reached for it, removing it from the table and lifting it up. It was glowing weakly. He looked at it carefully, and then its thoughts were revealed to him. A great light above, and 5 beings dressed in white with several obscure instruments. One of the beings touches upon it, and everything goes white with a huge burst of energy. Screams fill the air for a fraction of a second, silenced by the intensity of the burst. There is a horrible shift in the terrain as the base is blown away...left in its place is a cone volcano, caused by the burst's pull on the land. It also revealed to Naaro something shocking: the obsidian coffins of the personnel contained not bodies, but highly poisonous gases. Unfortunately for Naaro, he was told that because Halcyon had noticed the gases escaping the finger of one of the scientists.
Up he fled, the gas moving at a horribly fast rate. All 5 scientists had shattered as Halcyon let out a sonic wave from regaining its power, and now a cloud of deadly gas was on his tail. He leapt with all the force his legs could provide, and eventually found he had no more platforms to leap up to. "Damnit..." he cursed, looking down. The shattering of obsidian was a telltale sign that the poisonous (and corrosive) gas was getting closer. He was surprised to find a rope drop onto his shoulder. He looked up and saw no one. Naaro then tested the rope with a firm tug, and it did not fall down to him. He quickly climbed, and crawled onto safe land. He then realized that the gas probably wouldn't stop at the entrance and turned to shut it, just as Halcyon told him not to waste energy...the gas had stopped at the hole. He then felt a gun to his head, and a firm voice told him, "Turn around."
As Naaro turned, he saw 5 guards. One held the gun to his head, and the other four had their rifles trained on him. "You are hereby a prisoner of the Tairez Empire, disgusting Karmali. You are no different than the accursed Yoshies you aid." Naaro growled, and the Halcyon glowed bright. "Leave me be..." he muttered. The soldier heard him, and laughed, backhanding him hard to the ground. "You've got some insolence, telling us to leave you be. Scum like you deserve to be eliminated!" The soldier pointed his gun at Naaro, and Naaro glared at him. That's when Halcyon gave off a bright flash of light, blinding the soldier. He let out a cry and covered his eyes, dropping his gun. Naaro wasn't one to let opportunity escape him, and rushed the guard, cutting him in two with the Halcyon. The 4 other guards, whom had been preparing a shuttle, began firing on Naaro. The Karmali warrior leaped high into the air, using the sun as his ally to keep his opponents from spotting him. He dove on one and tossed him into the volcano, then slashed the heads off of the other 2 in one swift stroke. The remaining soldier ran for his life. Naaro trained the tip of the Halcyon on him to fire, but, strangely, Halcyon refused to fire. The soldier escaped to the transport, and took off into the sky. Naaro groaned, and rubbed his face. "@#%$ soldiers..." He looked at Horus and saw a dead guard beside it. A smile crossed his face, and he put his suit back on. As he did, he noticed that his suit was receiving a message...the voice was female, and he recognized it immediately. "Rynn!" he cried as he rushed up to Horus and leaped into the cockpit, taking off immediately. He pinpointed the location of the signal and made haste toward that location.
Meanwhile, back in North Yoshin City, the havoc was obvious. The Tairez Empire was ravaging the city, Vipers bombarding it with hyperlasers and various airborne craft strafing the building with bombs and lasers. In a bunker below the Elder Council, one of Yoshin's most proficient generals (and a Xymander defector during Yoshin's war with that race), Zargon, proposed a daring plan to the elders. "There's a weapons satellite in orbit above Yoshin...if we can go and activate that satellite, we can wipe out the enemy with one shot!" "That's insane," one of the Elders protested, "You can't possibly fire that satellite on the warships! If we miss, Yoshin is doomed! Didn't you see it fire on one of the Yoshira Del Sol islands?!" "I did, and I've done research on this satellite," Zargon stated, continuing his bid. "It's called the GODS, or Global Ocular Destroyer Satellite. An unknown user tapped into its systems via computer and caused it to fire on Merijan Island in the Yoshira Del Sols. It wiped the island off the map. If that thing can wipe an island off the map, then we will definitely have a chance against those giant warships in the sky with it." Another elder, calmer than the last, stood and spoke. "Zargon, let's say your plan is put into action. We need to get up there in order to activate the satellite, and that's going to be difficult, considering that the enemy fleet is blockading the planet." Zargon nodded, and replied, "I've taken that into consideration as well. I'll use Djinn Gundam's Turtle Armor to protect the team as they penetrate the blockade."
The elder nodded. "Alright...but, if you're going to protect the team, who's going to be the team leader? Someone needs to get them inside the satellite, and, if it's a weapons satellite, I would gather it to be well-defended." Zargon nodded. "It is well-defended...very well-defended." The elder gave Zargon a look that begged him to answer. Zargon obeyed, and continued, "I know who can get us in there...and, with your permission, I'm going to gather our team and contact him." The elders looked at eachother grimly, then to Zargon. Cyno spoke at last. "Well, we don't have too many other options, do we? You may do as you please, Zargon...save us from these invaders." Zargon nodded. "Thank you, elders...I will be leaving within the hour." With that, Zargon left to make his preparations...and to call Naaro to be the leader of the team.

A blue, winged mobile suit stood in the middle of a field, being fired on from all sides. While it fired shots back at those attacking it, they were in vain, as the heavily-armored Vipers shrugged off most of the shots and the airborne fighters were fast enough to dodge. "Help me!" Rynn cried out over her radio, hoping someone would hear. While she was a competent pilot, she hadn't fought in a mobile suit since the Xymander War, and the Tairez Empire's forces were much different than those of the Xymander. Eventually, a hyperlaser blast from one of the Vipers hit where it counted, on the wings. Rynn screamed as her suit fell forward and hit the ground hard, slamming her head against the cockpit door. She closed her eyes tight, practically hearing Kai's screams from his crib back in Drakonia. It was the only sound as she prepared for what was bound to come...but didn't. After about a minute, she opened her eyes and blinked. Why wasn't she destroyed? Just then, a message came through on the radio. "It's not safe out here with all the goons, baby...what are you doing?" She recognized the male voice as Naaro instantly and shouted back joyfully, "Naaro, you came for me!" Naaro gave a slight laugh, replying, "Of course I came for you, you're my love!" Naaro helped Rynn get her mobile suit, Aquilus, back on its feet, then told her, "Alright baby, get to safety...the Tairez Empire is attacking this planet." "Tairez Empire?" Rynn asked, unaware of who they were. Naaro replied, "Pro-human, anti-yoshi group. Nasty folks. Now get going, angel, they're all over the planet...get back to Kai and get to some sort of underground shelter. They shouldn't find you there." Rynn nodded, replying, "Alright love...you stay alive for me, okay? I don't want Kai to be fatherless...and I don't want to be a widow." Naaro gave a warm laugh, the kind he gave when Rynn and he were sitting by the fire back home talking, and replied sincerely, "Don't worry love...not even the Reaper could keep me from you and my son." With that assurance, Rynn gave a teary-eyed "Good luck" and took off, heading back toward Drakonia.
"She cares quite a lot about me...what better reason could there be not to die, eh?" he said to himself, smiling. He then received a call on his radio. "Naaro, come in...Naaro, come in..." It was Zargon, the Xymander defector that had risen to quite a prestigious position in the Yoshinian Army ranks. "Zargon, hey! I don't hear battle sounds in the background...why aren't you fightin'?" Zargon gave a chuckle, and replied, "Naar, I need you to come to North Yoshin City. We're going to launch a team of mobile suits to try and penetrate the enemy blockade and access that weapons satellite floating in orbit beyond the blockade. It destroyed Merijan Island a few hours ago, and we're pretty sure it can wipe out those warships that appear to be the flagships of this assault." Naaro then asked, "Then what about me? Why'd you call me, Zargon?" "I need you to lead the team since I'll be protecting it from the blockade with Djinn Gundam's Turtle Armor," Zargon replied. Naaro blinked. "Zargon, that's crazy man! I don't know if you're aware of this, but one set of Turtle Armor can't stand up to repeated laser fire from a warship as big as those, much less protect all the team!" "Hey, don't lose faith in me pal. You saw how good that Turtle Armor was at the Battle of March Station and in the battle against Gundam Götterdämerung. If it can stand up to that monster machine's Cannon Array, I think it should be able to hold up against those warships." Naaro reluctantly agreed with an "Alright", then asked, "When does the operation commence?" "In about an hour...hurry over here, we'll probably be ready to go by the time you arrive." Zargon replied. "Got it, be there as quick as possible," Naaro assured Zargon. He then took off toward North Yoshin City.
Zargon walked into the hangar of the underground base and found 5 Skymaster mobile suits being prepared. They were Gundams, much like Aquilus and J-Vector, only they had Luna Titanium alloy instead of the stronger Gundarium alloy for armor. As part of the Yoshinian Army's elite Yoshi Assault Corps (YAC) taskforce, they were also armed much better than the inferior Yo'shar mobile suits. The standard equipment for a Skymaster consisted of 1 double-barreled gattling gun, 2 60mm vulcan guns in its head and two self-aiming guns of the same kind in its knees, 2 beam sabers also stored in its knees, and 8 funnels in its secret chest silos.
Skymaster, as it namesake suggests, could also fly, making it ideal for a space mission. Zargon then walked down from the catwalks to his own mobile suit, Djinn Gundam. It had Gundarium Gamma alloy for its armor, in addition to Chobham armor plating on certain parts of its body. It was armed with a powerful 175mm cannon, a pair of head vulcans, and a beam saber. Its Turtle Armor hung above it, slowly being lowered onto it by technicians. The armor opened up as it lowered, snapping onto Djinn Gundam and covering its chest and legs. Zargon hopped into the cockpit using the hatch on the Turtle Armor and on the body of Djinn Gundam itself, beginning to put the finishing touches on the suit for this mission. About an hour later, he received word that Naaro had arrived. "Just in time," he said with a smile as he looked over at the fully-prepared Skymasters, all with their pilots within. He closed up his cockpit and took off, joining Naaro outside. After exchanging the basic pleasantries, the team took to the sky, and to space, heading straight for the blockade, Zargon at the front in Djinn Gundam.
"Alright, go full-speed through the blockade, I'll hold off their fi---" Zargon halted his orders as he saw the two massive warships block off the direct path to the GODS and launch a plethora of fighters and turbolaser blasts at the team. They then received a transmission from Richter. "So, insolent lizards, thought you could get past my blockade and destroy me with that satellite? I'm afraid not! My squadrons will make you pay for your stupidity!" "@#%$," Zargon cursed, continuing, "Alright guys, we'll have to fight this blockade until I can open up a safe path for you...Naaro, you and the Skymasters hold on as long as you can...if it gets too rough, get outta here. Got it?" "Got it Zar," Naaro acknowledged, firing his wrist vulcans at a Razorback formation. He and the 5 Skymasters formed a circle, backs facing toward the inside of it as they sprayed fighters with vulcan and gattling bullets. Zargon darted toward the two flagships of the assault, the Pentastar and the Ragnarok, to try and give the team an opening. Meanwhile, on the Pentastar, Richter intercepted another of Zargon's transmissions, hearing the name Naaro, as well as the response. His face was crossed with a vicious smile of delight. "Well well well, the one whom I sought has decided to fall right into my hands, has he? Perfect!" He turned and ordered, "Lieutenant Delroy!" A man with blue eyes and orange hair turned to the admiral and saluted. "Yes, Admiral Sprint!" he responded obediently. "Go get me the pilot of this mobile suit," he commanded, pointing at a vid-screen displaying Naaro's mobile suit. Delroy saluted, giving Richter a "Yes, sir!" then heading for the hangar bay. When he arrived, he turned to two other Aurora pilots preparing to go out. "You two!" he shouted. The two pilots stood at attention and saluted. "Yes, Lieutenant?!" they responded. "Take my wing...I'm going after one of those robots out there," he demanded. The two pilots gave an affirmative, and climbed into their fighters. Delroy climbed into the cockpit of his own customized Razorback fighter, and the 3 fighters took off, turning toward the mobile suits gathered in a circle before the blockade.
Zargon was flying quick raids between the two flagships as Delroy and his wingmen launched, his turtle armor absorbing even the powerful shots of the flagships' defense lasers. He was peppering the hulls of the two ships with as many 175mm cannon shots as he could get off, trying to make an opening for Naaro and the Skymasters. *@#%$...sure hope I can open up a path for Naar and the others,* he thought as he darted between the flagships. By now, Delroy and his wingmen had closed in on the mobile suit group, having dodged their shots with relative ease. "Stay on my wing," Delroy ordered as he flew closer. He decided to send a transmission to Naaro and try to get him to surrender peacefully. "Enemy pilot, this is Lieutenant Maxis Delroy of the Tairez Imperial Fleet. Your attempt to defeat our fleet is futile. Surrender now and you will be treated with humanity." Naaro gave a laugh, and responded, "Ha! Evil empires don't know how to be humane!" Delroy gave a slight growl, and launched a pair of Harrower missiles at one of the Skymasters. The powerful missiles made direct contact, one impacting on the Skymaster's right shoulder and the other right in the cockpit. The pilot's loud scream made Naaro cringe. He turned to the 3 fighters strafing his team and fired his wrist vulcans at them, blowing one out of the sky. The 2 remaining fighters turned back around and fired on another Skymaster, destroying it as well. The pilot cried out in pain, and Naaro got rather irritated with Delroy and his wingman. "Alright you bastards...time to try out these microlasers!" With that, he pressed the trigger for Horus's microlasers. A number of small, tennis ball-sized pods deployed from Horus's shoulders, 50 to be exact, and filled the sky with strings of purplish lasers. Delroy looked around in fear and disbelief. "What the hell?!" he cried as 8 lasers tore through his wingman. He desperately dodged the lasers flying around him, his battle composure destroyed by the havoc. In his haste to avoid the lasers, he flew right into the path of Naaro's wrist vulcans. Naaro wasted no time in tearing Delroy's ship to bits with a spray of vulcan fire.
"Sir!" one of the ensigns on the Ragnarok shouted, facing the ship's commander, Lieutenant Reno Kefka. "What is it, Ensign?" Lt. Kefka asked. "Sir, there is a mobile suit attacking the defensive emplacements of our ship and the Pentastar with a heavy cannon. It's heavily-armored, and our lasers are bouncing off of it as if they were nothing." Kefka gave the ensign a glare. "Why are you bothering me with this, it's only one mobile suit!" The bridge suddenly shook violently, throwing Kefka down hard on his face. With a half growl, half groan, he rose from the ground. "Blow it out of the sky with a Hyperlaser Cannon shot. Let's see that lizard resist one of those!" he barked. "Yes sir!" the ensign in charge of weapons shouted in reply as he began powering up one of the Ragnarok's cannons. At the same time, the ensign at the helm maneuvered the massive ship away from its sistership in order to give itself room to fire.
"Yes!" Zargon cried triumphantly as he watched the Ragnarok pull away, opening up a path to the GODS. "Naar, the path is open! Take your remaining Skymasters and head for the satellite, I'll block the shots of the ships," he said. "Alright, going right now!" Naaro replied as he and the 3 remaining Skymasters flew toward the satellite. As they passed between the two ships, both fired on them, but Zargon and Djinn Gundam were able to keep them protected. They made it out of the blockade, and headed straight for the GODS. On the satellite, several thousand eyes about the size of a tennis ball focused on the 4 mobile suits. They were black with five red dots in a cross pattern on them. Richter then caught sight of the mobile suits heading toward the GODS. He shouted in anger at Lt. Kefka over the comlink, "What the hell are you doing?! We just let them through, they're heading for the satellite!" Kefka replied, "Sir, I'm going to destroy the mobile suit running between us, sir!" "With what?" Richter shouted. "With a Hyperlaser blast," Kefka replied. "What?! You idiot! It's one mobile suit! Turn your Hyperlasers on that satellite and fire, NOW!" Richter demanded, not happy with his subordinate. "Y-yes, sir!" Kefka replied, obeying. The Ragnarok's Hyperlaser trained its sights on the GODS and prepared to fire. "No! I can't let it destroy the satellite!" Zargon cried, heading for the path of the laser.
"Hyperlaser at 100% power, sir. Fire?" the weapons ensign stated. "Yes, fire," Kefka replied, turning to the GODS to watch its destruction. The Hyperlaser then let its blast fly, and Zargon flew in front of it. Naaro and the others turned and saw the horrific sight of Djinn Gundam's Turtle Armor being struck by the Hyperlaser. "Zargon!" Naaro cried out, receiving no response. Kefka blinked as the laser finished expelling its power build-up, yet GODS had not a scratch on it. "What...how...how did it make it through without any damage?!" Zargon had lost the lower half of his body when the Turtle Armor buckled and ripped off Djinn Gundam's lower half. His spacesuit allowed him to stay alive as the wreckage floated, crackling with electricity, ready to blow. "Zargon! You alright?!" Naaro cried. "Save Yoshin, ol' buddy...get inside the GODS and fire it on those flagships...fire on the flagships..." Zargon said weakly. With that, the live wire that Djinn Gundam had become reached the point of no return, and exploded in a decent-sized fireball. "Zargon!" Naaro cried out...it was no use. He gave a deep sigh, and turned to the GODS. "Alright boys...it's now or never," he stated grimly. He gave the Ragnarok a bitter look, then raised his micronuclear cannon. "Take this!!!" he shouted angrily as he pulled the trigger. The cannon powered up and launched a massive blast, ripping a large hole through the lower decks of the massive ship. The bridge shook violently, Kefka bracing himself on a control panel. "What the hell happened?!" he shouted. "Sir, a large beam blast just ripped through subdecks 3, 4, and 5!" an ensign shouted in reply. Kefka growled, and turned back to the planet. "Sir!" he shouted to Richter via comlink. "What is it?! You've already failed me once, what do you want?!" Richter replied angrily. "Permission to hit the planet with a Hyperlaser blast, SIR!" Kefka requested. Richter replied, "...alright Lieutenant, fire away. Perhaps it is indeed time we upped the ante of this assault." "Yes, sir!" Kefka shouted in reply. He then turned to his weapons ensign and menacingly stated, "You heard him...start killing those @#%$ lizards." The ensign could sense the maliciousness and anger in the lieutenant's voice, and quickly obeyed.
As Naaro and the 3 remaining Skymasters flew toward the GODS, the thousands of 5-pupiled black and red 'eyes' covering the surface of the weapons satellite focused on them. The Plasma Ray and Plasma Beam Cannon batteries (the latter being more powerful and in smaller numbers than the former) took aim, while the Plasma Shock Cannon batteries, largest of GODS's defensive weapons, remained in place. Out of nowhere, the batteries began firing. A beam cannon blast pierced the torso of one of the Skymasters and caused it to explode brilliantly. "What the---laser batteries?!" Naaro cried out, dodging several shots. The other 2 Skymaster pilots began doing the same. "Alright boys, we're gonna have to go in fast! Keep up your doding, and look for openings!" Naaro ordered, starting his approach. "Yes, sir!" the two Skymaster pilots replied, following. As they flew swiftly toward the massive satellite, one of the Skymasters was destroyed by sustained Plasma Ray blasts. The remaining Skymaster pilot was lucky enough to survive the lasers until Naaro found an entrance. "In here!" he cried as he flew inside, the Skymaster pilot following. They proceeded through the massive corridors of the satellite until they reached the central control room. Back outside, the Ragnarok had commenced its firing. One blast had already hit Yoshira Del Sol and incinerated the main island's population as well as that of several surrounding islands. It was preparing another blast, this one targeted on Karmalia...and Naaro's loved ones.
After touching down in the control room, Naaro exited Horus and went to directly program the GODS for firing. He found a computer floating in the strange material filling the control room, and floated up to it. He typed in the commands for an offensive fire, and 3 options came up. One was the Telescoping Cannon. Another was the Death Wave. The last was the Astral Screamer. All 3 had completely incomprehensible writing next to them. *Which one do I pick?* he thought. He suddenly sensed his loved ones suddenly being in great danger. This provoked him to quickly choose the Death Wave. He set the target to the Ragnarok, climbed back into Horus, and departed along with the Skymaster pilot.
"Ready to fire, ensign?" Kefka asked. "Yes, sir, power at 100%," the ensign replied. Kefka smirked, and ordered, "Very well. Fire." Back on the GODS, a large, trapezoid-shaped weapon rose from the surface of the massive satellite. The several 'eyes' (also known as Optical Sighters) acquired their target, and the Death Wave fired. A wave of distortion passed across space toward the Ragnarok, then began to reverberate over the hull. It was a sonic wave. Within the mighty ship, a horrible sound began echoing through the hull, piercing the very brains of the crew and causing their heads to explode. Kefka gripped his ears in pain, and looked around as the heads of the ensigns exploded. "Oh my god...what's happening..." he groaned, falling to the ground. The wave then turned itself into a sonic boom, and billions upon billions of cracks spread through the hull of the Ragnarok. The crew of the Pentastar looked over at their sistership, their attention completely diverted from the battle. The entire crew of the Pentastar (including Richter) watched as the Ragnarok shattered, sending out a wave of temporal distortion before it exploded in a fireball that would make a victim of the Hiroshima bombing feel lucky. The crew of the Pentastar covered their eyes and turned away as the brilliant flash of light occurred, followed by the unleashing of a gigantic wave of flames. Richter's mighty ship got a good sizzle; the smaller ships around it received a horrendous amount of damage or were simply incinerated. Below on Yoshin, both soldier and civilian were jubilant as millions of tiny pieces of metal no larger than a half-dollar fell to the surface. The Tairez Empire's forces on the planet itself had also been smashed, evident by the MS Yo'shars and yoshies tossing various-sized chunks of scrap metal into piles and furnaces.
Naaro and the remaining Skymaster pilot returned to the surface as heroes. As Naaro re-entered the atmosphere, he turned back to look upon space..."There is a thin line between nobility and idiocy...you are definitely on the noble side, my friend. Sleep in the peace and tranquility of the afterlife, Zargon...may the Eternal Guardians of the Beyond, Great Warriors of the Karmali, watch over your righteous soul." With those words of final best wishes, Naaro put his pointing and middle fingers to his lips, kissing them and touching them to his forehead, the Karmali way of saying "Rest In Peace". He then turned away and flew toward Karmalia, not wanting to bother with the victory ceremony in North Yoshin City.
