There was defiantly a lot of glaring going on, since both parties knew the other on sight. The upturned tables were more from people jumping up to take pictures of the two people with weird colored skin, than from any of the aforementioned people attempting to show off their strength before the fight. The shredding curtains were a result of Jadea having trouble drawing her katana in the small space between the upturned tables, the tourists, and the window.
The explosion was small, and limited to an amazingly small spot about a foot across. (Josh measured sometime during the following fight.) It was called an explosion simply because of the explosion type noise it made, as well as the fact that there wasn't much else to label it. No one's exactly sure how it originated either…
Oh right, back to the plot.
"Damnit." Mazzic muttered.
"Language." Kaye said.
"Spanish isn't it?" Josh asked from a spot no one could see.
"El gatolito come los flores bonitas" said Kyanosa.
"If you four are quite finished." Vole said. "Hand over the Creation's Weapon."
"What'll you give us for it?"
Both Twilighters looked slightly surprised.
"How about your lives?" Jadea suggested.
"Sorry, we already have that." Mazzic replied.
"El gatolito come los flores bonitas" said Kyanosa.
"The kitty ate what?" Vole raised an eyebrow.
"Why couldn't the Weapon have been in Japan, I know Japanese." Kaye said with a sigh.
"Because you know Japanese." Kyanosa stated simply.
"Enough small talk. If you don't hand over the weapon right now, you're all going to be in a world of pain."
"El gatolito come los flores bonitas" said Kyanosa.
"And your little cat too." Vole snapped.
The yo-yo Kyanosa was holding whipped out, smacking Vole in the area of his face where his nose would've been had he had a nose.
"You dirty little human!" Vole swore. In a flash Kyanosa flew backwards as the Twilighter's bo slammed into his stomach.
Mazzic shot forward with a growl of rage, driving his fists at Vole. The demon countered with his bo, and then danced nimbly out of the way. During this time all of the tourists, as well as year round inhabitants had suddenly all remembered other places they needed to be, and the room was emptied.
Kaye ran back to Kyanosa, who was pushing himself to his feet.
"Are you okay?" She asked.
"Fine and Dandy." Kyanosa said rubbing the place Vole had struck him.
"You wouldn't hit a lady would you?" Kaye heard Jadea say from behind her. She turned to see Josh had once again reappeared, and was standing ready, watching the female Twilighter's katana warily. Mazzic and Vole were still fighting around the room, the slower Mazzic taking a few good hits from the bo.
"Lessee. Yo-yo and stone? Nope, too heavy. Yo-yo and fire? Ooo, that could be fun." Kyanosa pushed the three needed marbles together and a small disc of fire appeared above his hand. Kyanosa ran forward, firing a disc out in front of him, straight at Vole. "Watch out! It's hot!"
Vole turned to knock the disc away, and was caught in that second by a strong punch from Mazzic, taking advantage of the distraction. Vole flipped backwards to avoid the next blow Mazzic had aimed. "Cheap little bastards aren't you?" He said with a grin. "You won't be for long." There was a flash and the Twilighter sped forward, his bo humming towards Mazzic's side.
"Winds of Protection surround and hold." Kaye said quickly. Vole's attack slammed into the air just a few inches away from the Spectrum Traveler, as if hitting a brick wall. Mazzic turned to smile at Kaye before he and Kyanosa turned to attack the confused, and slightly annoyed looking Vole.
Kaye turned her attention to Josh and Jadea. Josh had backed himself up to the wall, forcing Jadea to stay in front of him. He has pulled a knife from somewhere on his body and was busy parrying Jadea's attacks with her blade as best as he could. She suddenly flashed a smile and seemed to disappear. Josh looked shocked, trying to figure out where she was going to attack from, but Kaye hardened the air around Josh, stopping the attack, which came from the left side, in mid air.
Jadea jumped back as Josh took the opportunity to move forward, slashing out at her with his knife. Every attack she launched against him after that was parried either by Josh's own skill, or a flash of green.
"You stupid little human." Jadea screeched, jumping back after another handful of unsuccessful attacks that could've easily been mortal blows. Josh didn't seem to know what was going on with the barrier, but there was a confidant smile on his face, as he seemed to dare the Twilighter to attack him again.
Mazzic and Kyanosa were fairing extremely well against Vole as well, with every attack against them being stopped. Kyanosa threw fire discs forward, causing Vole to either dodge or knock them away to avoid being hit, which gave Mazzic time to slip in and hit him.
"Jadea." Vole finally snapped, flipping away from the pair of humans. The second Twilighter darted away from Josh to join Vole on the opposite side of the room.
"You pathetic little life forms shouldn't stand a chance against us." Jadea growled, looking slightly ruffled. "How were you blocking those attacks?"
Vole looked the four humans over. "None of you have magik strong enough for that kind of barrier." He said looking at each of them in turn.
Jadea suddenly looked up at Kaye, her eyes questioning. "You. You weren't fighting. What were you doing?"
"She doesn't have an magik." Vole said. "Not anymore than these other…suddenly he froze, his eyes going wide. Oh by Whyr, look at her psychic power."
Jadea's eyes flared murderously. "I knew it was you. How can a human have so much power?"
Kaye found herself able to smile, even while looking at two demons with incredible power. "Actually, I'm an arcanian. It's natural for us."
"You @#%$." Jadea growled. She reached down, her hand grasping the first thing it found, and she flung it forward. Kaye put up her hand, as the projectile slowed in its path, and she took it gently from the air.
"You will see us again. And next time you won't be so lucky." Vole said. Jadea slipped her katana back into it's sheath and both demons disappeared from the slightly, okay amazingly, wrecked café.
"So that was you doing the barrier thing?" Josh asked.
Kaye nodded. "It was really easy because neither of them used magik. Magik's a bit harder to block because it tends to spread out when hitting something. Physical attacks only need a little something in their way."
"Well we appreciate the help." Mazzic said. "See, you're not useless after all."
Kaye nodded with a smile.
"Whazis?" Kyanosa had pulled her hand forward; peering at the object Jadea had thrown at her.
"Oh, it's that old spoon again." Kaye said looking at it. "It is kind of cool looking actually."
"La Cuchara de Deslustre, con no aún una Orilla Levemente Aguda." Kyanosa said.
"Will you quite with that phrase." Josh asked in annoyance.
"No, he said something different this time." Mazzic said.
Kaye picked up the spoon and looked at it closely. "Hey, it actually says that on the side."
Kyanosa was already flipping through the Spanish for Dummies book. The other three waited as he said. 'Hmmm, hmm…uh? Hmmm."
"Will you give me that." Mazzic grabbed for the book
"The Spoon of Dullness, with not even a Slightly Sharp Edge." Kyanosa announced with a triumphant smile, shutting the book.
Mazzic, Kaye and Josh all blinked.
"Maybe something's lost in the translation?" Kaye suggested.
"Wait a minute. Do you think that could be the Creation's Weapon?" Mazzic asked.
"The Spoon of Dullness?" Kaye raised an eyebrow.
"With not even a Slightly Sharp Edge." Kyanosa added nodding.
"I would think it'd be a little more impressive than a spoon." Kaye said, succeeding in snatching the book from Kyanosa's grasp. He parried by grabbing the spoon from her. She, deciding it better for him to have the spoon than the book where he could get more annoying phrases from, let him keep it.
"You could be right." Mazzic said. "It must be some kind of souvenir or something. Now let's get out of here before those Twilighters decide they want a rematch."
"Or we have to pay for the mess." Added Josh.
Kaye and Kyanosa followed Mazzic out the door. Josh had disappeared to somewhere yet again.
