Chapter CVI: Why Are Yoshies So Slow Anyways? ~Multehx

C.R. put his hand to his head, groaning. Ian looked overcuriously and Jaded spoke up. "So, what's the scoop in the universe to have ya in pain, mister twilighter?"

The Rip Watcher looked over, dumfounded. Jaded simply smirked. He SOMEHOW had seen past the disguise and noted C.R.'s species- a first for any being! C.R frowned. "Wait-a-sec, how'd you know I was one?" Jaded smirked and poked his chest with his broken sword. "You never breathe. Yer chest never moves an inch." He then shrugged. "Many other things too, but that's the most elementary evidence."

C.R. shook his head. "Clever observations.," he muttered. LOoking up he quickly added. "No one else knows that-" He shot a glance to Ian and back to Jaded, "So we keep that hush hush." Jaded grinned and nodded. "Of course." The demon, knowing he could trust the mercenary, was satisfied by this. Scilas seemed to be taking note of the conversation, but his eyes shot back and forth, monitoring everywhere at any sound. Ian was fixing that green cloak of his, and Jaded was leaning against the inn with his eyes shut. C.R. marveled at this, because his senses told him that Jaded was even more aware then Scilas at the moment; even with his eyes closed! The Twilighter shook his head. "That merc is somethin else." he muttered to himself, grinning, then nearly jumped in surprise as Jaded's eyes flew open and he slammed a fist against the wall.

"Dammit!! Where the hell is that blue lizard mage guy? The Council is probably almost upon it by now while we wait for his sorry slow @#%$." Scilas muttered something under his breath, then grinned innocently as Jaded glared at him. Ian shook his head, and C.R. sighed. True, the merc's language was harsh, but he had a point. It had been over two hours since their arrival...then another thought struck him. Where had Omega gotten to??

Then as if to answer the question in his mind, Omega hurried up to the group. "Guys! Guys!!" he yelled as he drew nearer. Jaded frowned and looked over. "What? What is it, Mr. Roboto? And where were you?" The robot pointed off towards a dark forest, filled with gnarled trees. "I got a readin and ran off after it."

"Reading? Of what?"

"Well, seems there's a massive energy source. It's on a very remote frequency, so I doubt anyone sensed it. It's the same frequency of those sword parts, but it's in that forest, and it keeps moving as if it were alive and moves erraticly as if it was making conscious choices of which way to go to avoid something." He ran a few steps back towards the forest and pointed. "Come on! Let's get after that thing while it's still not too far off and get us one just waiting for us to claim it!"

The heroes nodded, and began to sprint off in that direction. All but C.R. who abruptly stopped, remembering Rainy. He quickly drew an odd pen from his shirt's breast pocket, and scribbled on the wall "This Way to C.R. and Co." Of course, being one of his unusual trinkets, the writing was that of a flashing neon that could get even a rock's attention...provided the rock was smart enough to read, and had some sensory apparatus.
