Chapter
CCXXXVI: It Takes Two to Tango, but Country Line Dancing… ~Mazzic
It was like a dance, it really was. Even Kyanosa, for once was not screwing everything up, and in
fact, was holding his own against the magically superior Orson. Kaye stood at
the side, throwing in a buffer shield whenever necessary, Josh was battling
against Mel with Rainy by his side, and Mazzic and Cydak were having a good old fashion beat down fest all
over the field.
But back to the dance thing...It looked as though the twilighters
were weaving in and out of each other's way, the protagonists danced along,
following their lead. Graceful as a swan, deadly as Multehx's
ego, the battle raged.
To the side, Multehx and Havering looked at each
other.
"We should probably start whompin' some twilighters now, we're letting the newcomers have all the
fun," Multehx mumbled.
"Yes, I was just thinking the same thing, I have Malachai,
you take Nictem," everyone's favorite
twilighter replied.
"You got it."
And then the two most powerful people in the Multiverse
joined the fray.
----------------------
Cydak yelled in Mazzic's
general direction, "You're going down human scum!"
Mazzic just smiled and stopped running. As Cydak turned, he dodged a punch to the jaw, but missed the
knee to his stomach and was knocked back a few feet.
Grinning, Mazzic replied, "Your reflexes are a
bit slow there, you want to end this now?"
"I think I do human...feel the power of Noh Vah!"
Much to Mazzic's surprise, the demon's fists lit up
in blue flame and a faster, stronger Cydak launched
himself in the direction of the clone.
Mazzic lit up with gold light and charged right into
the onslaught.
That was one of the first explosions.
----------------------
Kyanosa jumped back away from Orson, and, as it so
often happens in these fights, Orson stopped fighting (or casting in his case)
and looked at the angel-like figure with calculating eyes. "You're not bad,
not bad at all, unfortunately for you though, it will not be enough."
"So you say, however, you have yet to feel my true powers."
Laughing, Orson returned, "Almost 900 years, I have lived, and this will
not be the first time I have quashed so insignificant insect as you. We shall
see who is more powerful, yes, we shall see."
Kyanosa settled back into a fighting stance, holding
out his hand he motioned toward himself, "Come."
"Gladly."
Orson raised his hands and making a complicated hand gesture, intoned the
words,
"Dark Burst!"
A medium sized blast of dark energy flew through the air and made contact with Kyanosa's sword.
----------------------
Rainy had finally figured out what the heck was going on and managed to grab a
stick from the ground.
"Not what I'm used to but it'll have to do." Rainy passed his free
hand over it and the rod glowed a strange mixture of
white and gold. "That should make this a bit more formidable."
Josh on the other hand was in deep combat with Mel, who was extremely surprised
when she was bashed over the head with a large glowing stick. She was then
doubly surprised when a large current of electricity passed through her body.
"You @#%$!"
Realizing that she was outnumbered, she backed away, and looked innocently at
Josh, "I'm sorry I won't try to hurt people again, why can't we just be
friends?"
Josh replied, "I'd love to, ya see? It's just
that...pink's not my color."
"Stupid human I'll make sure you wish that you had never been born!"
Then josh whipped out his daggers and twirled them about. Mel was entranced for
a few seconds by the patterns woven through the air but snapped out of it.
Unfortunately for Mel those few seconds were all Josh needed to follow up with
a hit-bash, which though was unsuccessful at knocking Mel unconscious, stunned
her for a few more seconds, during which time Rainy charged up a lightning
blast and shot it straight at her wobbling form.
----------------------
Havering was having fun, it was the first time that he truly had fun in a
while, and he was (unsurprisingly) enjoying it. While Malachai
knew that Havering couldn't kill him, after almost 1000 years of life in this
pitiful multiverse, he knew just about how much you could
live through, and being a Twilighter, he could live
through more pain than most...this was not an appealing thought.
Havering also knew this and was, at the moment, singing Malachai
with some fire spells while using his mental prowess to hurl rocks...large
rocks...in his direction.
Multehx was having a nice little spar with Nictem as well. Rather than trying to kill each other, they
were rather testing each other's strengths and weaknesses, and, unfortunately
for Nictem, he was having a hard time finding one on Multehx. On the other hand, while Multehx
may have been of superior strength, he was having a hard time finding a
tangible weakness on Nictem too.
----------------------
Mazzic and Cydak were a
blur.
Cydak was indeed as powerful as he boasted, but the
fight did not end as easily as he thought it would. Mazzic,
while providing a challenge, however, was not fighting at his full potential
yet and was letting Cydak’s fighting style sink in.
Then Mazzic made his move, jumping high in the air,
he swirled
his cape in front of him, which stirred up the dust at his feet. As the dust
rose, Cydak lost sight of Mazzic,
both the visual, and the power signature, and as he looked around, was
surprised to see a glowing fist standing out in the fog.
“Flurry!” At this word Mazzic
dashed straight through Cydak, who was too confused
to defend. As Mazzic slid stylishly to a stop on the
other side of Cydak, he clenched his trembling fist
and Cydak was thrown backward as the pain from Mazzic’s 17 punches finally set in. Spinning around for the
kill, Mazzic was surprised when Cydak
also turned, and kicked Mazzic in the stomach, as Mazzic was launched toward the heavens,
Cydak jumped and slammed his hands, hammer fist style
onto Mazzic’s head. Mazzic
was thrown toward the ground at a speed that was more then should have been
physically possible.
----------------------
At this time we look over to the other peoples not yet mentioned.
Redbok was hurting badly over to one side and was
tending to a large gaping chest wound.
Saphire was deftly defending herself against rapid
attacks from Fahna.
6400Infinity was dueling with Jadea.
Vole was still unconscious.
Necrominus was the other side of the planet irate as
hell, and with no arms.
Nero was also still unconscious, though he was waking up fast.
CR and the rest of the crew were still in the fiery cube.
----------------------
Kyanosa held on to his sword, luckily, as the burst
of dark flames enveloped it. When the wave past, he was not to
surprised to see no Orson directly in front of him, instead the Twilighter had used this time to run behind the archangel
and prepare another attack.
"Dark Rune!"
Orson sketched a figure in the air with his finger, when he had completed the
path his finger had followed lit up with purple flame. Pointing at Kyanosa he set the spell into effect.
The rune contorted and became a large fiery purple dragon, which sped toward Kyanosa...,and it was at this
moment that he decided to take to the air to avoid it. Unfortunately, though
not totally against Kyanosa's expectations, the
dragon followed him.
[[Your gonna regret this, Old Man]]
----------------------
The Lightning strike looked as though it hit Mel...and it should have, other
than the fact that when a whole lot of magikal energy
gathers in one particular area, strange fluxes are bound to occur.
Mel had appeared behind Rainy and slamming a fist straight to his kidney.
Unfortunately, since she is not really that strong, the yoshi
only grunted and spun flailing wildly with his enchanted blunt weapon.
Unfortunately for our heroes, and fortunately for Mel, she managed to dodge to
the side and send a fire spell at his unprotected side.
Luckily for him, Josh had sent one of his daggers whirling in the path of the flame
knocking it off course, where it blew up an unsuspecting tree.
That was when Kyanosa flew over and a large fiery
dragon blazed around Mel.
Her last words were, "You know guys? I really am beginning to dislike that
damned Orson."
Mel passed out.
Josh and Rainy looked at each other.
----------------------
Malachai was still avoiding Havering at all costs, he
alone among all people knew what could be done to him, and he wasn't liking his prospects.
Kyanosa flew over...dragon close at his heels.
Multehx was having just about enough of the crap and
whipped out the quicksilver and distracted Nictem
with a few random shots. While he blocked the bullets with a buffer shield, he
didn't notice the green twilighter running straight
for him.
Nictem never knew what hit him, and was knocked out
cold on the ground at
----------------------
Kaye had been watching this all from a distance, throwing in her powers when
necessary.
She now noticed Mazzic falling, with immense speed,
toward the ground.
Throwing all her might into her latest effort, she managed to slow Mazzic's decent to something reasonable, when Nero came up
from behind her and put her into a choke hold.
A hand over her mouth muffled her scream.
----------------------
Mazzic opened his eyes, and watched as the stars
danced in front of them. Then he noticed the ground.
Putting out his hands, he rolled awkwardly and got to his feet, but narrowly
hand sprung out of the way.
Dodging skilfully he managed to make his way over to Vole's unmoving body.
Back flipping over the twilighter, he reached into
Vole's pocket and grabbed the first thing he could...The Necrotelecomnicon,
first edition. Using it as a makeshift shield he held it up in front of a quick
punch from Cydak.
The blue fist went straight through the book, shredding all the pages.
Vole's eyes shot open.
Cydak gave a horrified screech, and was promptly
beaten to a pulp by the physically superior Vole.
*At least that one is out of the way* thought Mazzic,
and then he saw Kaye being dragged away.
----------------------
Kyanosa had been flying around like a madman trying
to outrun the dragon but was beginning to lag.
[[I need to just get around a little bit...There!]]
Kyanosa went straight for Orson, at the last minute
he pulled up and flew overhead, disappearing from Orson’s failing vision. Then
the dragon came, and headed straight for the old bugger.
“Hah! Is that the best you can do to me?” Orson exclaimed, as he held out his
hand and the dragon dissipated. Then he turned around and saw Kyanosa standing right behind him.
“Checkmate.”
Kyanosa slammed the hilt of his sword into Orson’s
temple. Orson wobbled about a bit, and fell over with a resounding *thump*.
Kyanosa grabbed his head in apperent,
and changed from archangel power to parasol power.
“Jeez! That old geezer is pretty tough! Let’s see if he has any marbles on
him.”
Kyanosa again changed powers and whipped out the
supping beam! (Check the SEDA). Holding his hand in Orson’s general direction
he activated the power and a blue light went from his hand to Orson’s chest, and almost to Kyanosa’s
surprise, a black and red marble flew to his hand. Looking at it, Kyanosa gasped and absorbed the power as quickly as
possible.
{{Wouldn’t want anyone to see this...}}
----------------------
The rest of the crew, still in the sphere, was either watching the battle, or
watching CR tactfully defeat anyone he could in a pleasant game of chess.
----------------------
Mazzic slid in front of Nero, “Where do you think
that you are going, twilighter?”
Nero grinned, “Oh, just over yonder so I can kill this innocent little psychic.
She was doing too much to protect you fools and now it is time for her to die.
But I’ll give her a chance, but it may cost you a bit too. I have a pair of
dice here, 6 sided, un-weighted. What say we make a little wager, no?”
“What kind of a wager,” contested Mazzic, remembering
his earlier episode with Poker.
“Let’s say that if I roll a two through a six, the girl dies, and you go with
her. A seven through eleven, and I let her go. A twelve, and...well...that would be telling,” Nero grinned.
Looking at Kaye and back at Nero, Mazzic made up his
mind.
“Go for it”
Nero tossed the dice, and a strange thing happened. Rather than the dice
rolling around on the ground and stopping, the dice began to spin.
Mazzic glanced at Kaye, who was in deep
concentration, then at Nero, who was also deep in
thought.
One die stopped spinning and burrowed into the ground, getting lodged in so it
could not move any more...ONE.
Mazzic clenched his fists, this was not good, unless they got a six on this roll they were both screwed.
The other die did not stop however and continued to spin faster and faster,
until it exploded.
Nero screamed and dropped Kaye. “My dice! Look what
you did to my beautiful dice! You bastards, you will pay...” Nero growled and
turned around.
Nero met Mazzic’s fist and collapsed into a heap.
“Well that’s another one down.”
----------------------
Havering was getting tired of this fight, especially sense Malachai
was not fighting back.
“I’m growing tired of you weakling Twilighters. I
shall end this now.”
Havering charged up a Shadow Blast, but also, caught up a rock behind Malachai.
“Shadow...Blast...Maximae!”
Havering’s arms shot forward and Malachai put all his
defenses to defending the fireball.
This was just as Havering expected, and he sent the boulder straight for Malachai’s head.
The leader of the Twilighters never knew what hit
him.
Then the Fiery cube around the other passengers of the Spectrum winked out.
----------------------
The remaining Twilighters took one look at their
surroundings and regrouped in the center of the
battlefield.
Fahna looked at Jadea,
Vole, Cydak, and Redbok,
“Well I’m not really good at elemental Magik, but I
can try this out.”
She stretched out her arms and a blast of air knocked every non-twilight
council member, with the exception of Havering, out of the area. Then the rest
of the Twilighters floated up in the air, and came to
a rest at her feet.
“Alright guys, we’re vastly out numbered, our leader has fallen, and we’re
losing. I think we need a plan.”
There was general agreement among the rest of the conscious group.
