Chapter
CXXXVII: Day Two – “Finishing Up” ~Naaro
After another rigorous day of training, Naaro sat beside Rody before a
crimson fire, Might and Light laid before him.
"You are done," Rody told him, both their
eyes closed. Naaro opened his eyes, and looked down
at the two tonfers. He took one in each hand, and he
felt them graft their power to his spirit. He had felt a great increase of
power in himself these past days...in his duel with Rody,
he had nearly matched his master in combat. "With practice, you will be
able to defeat that which lie before you, be it mortal
or immortal. Your powers are well on the way to greatness...they shan't fail
you." Naaro nodded to Rody,
and said, "Alright then. Thank you, Rody." Rody nodded his acknowledgement, and Naaro
rose. As he looked up at the stars, he muttered, "Hmm...I wonder where I
should go now." Though it wasn't meant for his ears, Rody
heard it, and replied, "I can send you somewhere." Naaro was a bit startled, but soon decided to take Rody up on his offer. "Where?
Where could you send me?" he inquired. "Back to that train you were
on," Rody replied, adding, "Back to the
battle." Naaro gave Rody
a look of astonishment. "
Naaro appeared on a hill that gave him a great
overlook of the battlefield. He saw Multehx, Pseudo, Vole,
Jadea, and several other Twilighters
he did not recognize. He also caught sight of the Spectrum, the four who had
gone to Earth fighting against the Twilighters, the
ones who had remained on the Spectrum since his last visit, and the 3 yoshies. "I seem to have missed a lot," he said
with a chuckle, readying his tonfers. He was now
dressed in a greatly-oversized red karate gi that
flowed behind him like a cape as he moved, paired with black hakama pants and geta (Japanese
sandals for those of you who don't know what they are). He leaped into the air
and chose his target, eyes searching the crowd. They settled on a blue-skinned Twilighter with robes colored in
many hues who looked rather beaten, but still a worthy adversary. He smirked and
pulled the hand containing Might back…then flung it forward, as if it were a
dart. It was a direct hit, striking Cydak in the head
and sending him flying into the dirt a distance from the main battlefield. Naaro flew down, grabbing Might before gravity brought it
to the ground, and leaping toward Cydak, tonfers ready. The startled Twilighter
had just gotten back up when Naaro struck again,
landing a pair of blows with Might and Light on Cydak’s
jaw. The Twilighter’s head whipped back as blood and
teeth escaped his mouth. He was quick to recover, and fired a Nohvah-charged punch at his adversary. Naaro
was hit, and Nohvah pulsed all over his body. He
cried out in pain and dropped. Cydak flashed a
menacing smile and sent a kick into the side of Naaro’s
head, tossing him earthward. Cydak raised his foot to
stomp Naaro hard, but the Karmali
was ready, grabbing Cydak’s foot just as it began its
descent and giving a turn. Cydak howled in agony as
the hearty “snap” of a body part breaking escaped his ankle. Naaro put one hand on the ground and shoved himself into
the air, giving Cydak a kick of his own, this one of
the two-footed variety. The Twilighter’s noseless face landed in the dirt as Naaro
landed gracefully on his feet with a quick midair uprighting.
Cydak picked himself back up, slowly, and groaned. He
had to stand on one leg thanks to the breaking of his ankle, and looked rather
pitiful as he hopped in a turn to face Naaro. “You
reptilian wretch!” he spat, enraged at his assailant. “I’ll make you pay for
that!” With that threat, Cydak leaped forth and
launched a plethora of hooks, jabs, and other pugilistic movements. Naaro was struck several times, but saw his opportunity and
dove into it, smashing Cydak in the jaw again with
his tonfers. The Twilighter
soon regretted his decision to attack the Karmali as
his shattered jaw caused his chin to collapse and introduced him to a new
meaning of pain. A cry of suffering flew from his mouth as he put his hands to
his mouth. Naaro looked at his tonfers
in disbelief. “These things can shatter a jaw in one good hit!” he cried,
ogling the glowing items. His mind then returned to the situation at hand. Cydak was reeling; it was time to finish him. With a deep
breath, Naaro ignited his tonfers
in holy energy, flickering as if it were flame. He pulled both of his arms
back, eyes glaring a hole through Cydak. The Twilighter was much more concentrated on his pain at the
time, so he didn’t notice until it was too late. Naaro
thrust forth his tonfers, and they pierced the demon’s
hide like sacred daggers. Cydak’s eyes became wider
than most would think possible, and a peculiar silence seemed to spread over
the entire planet as the holy energy of Might and Light invaded Cydak’s dark organs. The silence ended as Naaro ripped the tonfers from the
Twilighter’s chest and took a few steps back,
expecting some sort of explosion. His suspicions were confirmed as Cydak’s body turned into a white silhouette of itself
before vaporizing itself in a black and white column of energy that reached to
the skies. This caught the attention of the entire battlefield, many of the Twilighters looking around in a panic wondering where it
had come from. Fahna was the first to realize what
had happened, with the words: “Whyr damn it, those
rejects got Cydak!” Naaro
walked back into the vicinity of the battle with a smirk of pride on his face,
remarking, “A beautiful sight if you ever saw one, eh?”
