Chapter CLVIII: The Tyrannosaurian Returns ~Rexxor

Rexxor slowly opened the doors of the derelict tower, huge dust devils spinning in the background. This world had long been a harsh desert, a result of the pestilence brought on by its leader, Rexxor himself. He was back on the Tyranosaurian homeworld, and back at his lab. He entered slowly, looking around and examining the dusty, cobweb-covered walls of his old fortress. As light flowed into the main hall, other things besides dust particles moved.

"You wretched insects..." Rexxor growled, extending his backscythes and taking out his chain whip.

He took one step forward, and from the darkness darted eight winged, six-legged beasts that had the tails and claws of scorpions. Rexxor swung his whip at one, sending a psychic shockwave through the chains and right into the beast. It exploded. Rexxor then jumped back as three tail tips struck the ground where he had stood an instant earlier. He rushed forth, and all three beasts were cut to pieces by his backscythes. Four more. Two of the creatures decided to try some strategy, and charged at Rexxor from both sides. Rexxor thrust a hand at one, shouting "PsiCircle!", and enclosed it in a ball of neural static, disrupting its already-minute brainwaves and freezing its actions, then whipped around toward the other and used the Stinger move, hardening his chain-whip into a sword and stabbing the beast. With a quick spin, he struck the 'frozen' insect with his spiked tail, tearing into it and dropping it. A claw then flew right over his shoulder. He leaped backward with his backscythes and cut into the beast, tearing it apart. It was then that the remaining creature tackled him and stabbed at him with its tail. He blocked with his chain whip, and unleashed a PsiCutter, sending a blade of neural energy right through the beast's head and severing its brain's ability to work, thus killing it.

He tossed the creature off of him, disgusted, and dusted off his clothing. To make sure he scared off any other potential intruders, he tossed his hands into the air and said the old codeword he used to activate the lab: "Scion". He didn't know what it meant, but it had been his favourite word since he had read it in some scribbled ancient text he found in the old libraries of the Tyranosaurian capital. It was the only word he could make out. As the last sounds of the word left his lips, torches lighted up in the corridors of the old tower, and the lab become operational once more.

Rexxor proceeded through the main hall to the elevator, and ascended to the main lab level, where he stored all of his...creations. As the elevator reached the top level and the door opened, green light filled the tiny elevator. Rexxor walked out into the lab, and before him were several rows of gigantic stasis tanks filled with glowing seagreen fluid. Within each tank was a mutated Tyrannosaur, also known as Rexxor's former brethren. He smirked, and walked up to a computer on a platform. The platform suddenly elevated above all the tanks, revealing even more along the ceiling and upper reaches of the walls. Rexxor typed in a few commands on the computer, and he was presented with a very, very long list compiling all the mutations and derivations of Tyrannosaur he had. Acid Rex...Flame Rex...Giga Rex...Two-head Rex...Scythe Rex...Insect Rex...Apearm Rex...Cyclops Rex...the list went on forever. Rexxor kept looking through it until he found just what he was looking for.

"A-ha!" he cried. "Here it is!"

He pointed to the name "Shadow Rexling". Next to it was the number "20", indicating how many were in storage. He then came upon the "Devourer Rex" and the "Winged Rex". The last name he was searching for was then found...it was the "Morph Rex", one of his most powerful creations. It was capable of morphing into any shape or size, for its body was made entirely of metamorphosis fluid. The "Winged Rex" was, as its name suggested, gifted with wings, and the "Devourer Rex" was a beast with drastically overdriven hunger, so much so that it pushed its body to limits most of the other Rex mutations could not reach. The other creation, the "Shadow Rexling", was a creature much like Rexxor himself, but without the backscythes or spiked tail. Shadow Rexlings were masters of deception, and could kill practically anything without the victim ever knowing of their presence.

He typed in a few more commands, and several of the stasis tanks released their creatures. The Devourer Rex and the Winged Rex came first, and awoke seconds after being freed. They would have killed each other normally, but Rexxor's control restrained them. The Morph Rex was next. It took on a human form, and, since it also was gifted with a much higher-class brain than its fellows, said "Good morning, master" upon awakening. Rexxor gave Morph Rex a nod, and released the Shadow Rexlings. Four stasis tanks opened, each releasing five. They clamoured about and made raptor-like noises in their throats as they awaited their master's orders.

Rexxor smiled, and thought to himself, *It's time to finish my job and take my revenge...your days are numbered, Naaro!*
