Chapter CLXVI: Arrival ~Ria

Adrian opened the door just as Kaye was coming back from her slightly embarrassing and totally useless intrusion on the quiet goings on of the main part of the train.

"Oh, hey," Kaye said.

"I need to move around a bit," Adrian said.

"Be my guest."

Kaye bowed out of the way, allowing the Auran past her into the hall. Adrian moved down the halls, looking around the inter-dimensional train, since she had not had time to before. There were several other rooms, and the ones that were open looked the same as the one she had been in.

A door to one of the other rooms opened as Adrian passed, and turned to see Ratch coming out. He nodded a hello to her as she discovered he was heading the same way as she.

"You thirsty too?" he asked, moving into the room at the end of the hall, which turned out to be the kitchen. He flicked on the light switch and moved over to the refrigerator.

"Not really, just looking around."

She studied the robot who was pouring himself a glass of some liquid she couldn't identify.

"It's a bit boring with nothing to do," she said.

There was a short burst of fire, and a figure appeared – well somewhat appeared anyway.

"And without further ado, I have returned," an overly loud, pompous, and British voice said.

Adrian narrowed her eyes slightly at Havering, who looked around, his eye pausing on Ratch.

"Wait just a bloody second. What am I doing in here?"

Ratch regarded him coolly as he sipped his drink.

"Misjudged your spell a bit, vulth'n?" Adrian asked.

The ghost Twilighter regarded her as one would regard a pile of something nasty on one's shoe. Of course Adrian was looking at him the same way, but that's beside the current point. Kaye had explained to her why the Spectrum Travelers had teamed up with this demon who had tried to, and eventually succeeded in, destroying Zolott. And as much as she wanted to slide her sword through his neck, she would accept his presence, if for no other reason than it was CR's wish. Of course it didn't keep her from regarding him as that pile of something nasty on one's shoe, but at least it kept the fighting to a minimum. Okay, maybe it wasn't beside the point.

Havering walked calmly past her.

"Where's CR?" she asked.

Havering didn't bother to turn around. "Caelum, with the agent." He then chuckled. "Looked a little beat up when I left him too."

Adrian gritted her teeth and followed after the Twilighter, weighing the consequences of hurling a lightning attack at his back. She had promised herself that she would no longer make harsh prejudice decisions against anyone, but considering Havering's rap sheet, she felt she had the right to hate his very being, as nonsolid, and see-through as it was.

The Auran saw Lich walk past, looking slightly ruffled as he made his way to the engine room. Looking out the window at the far side of the room, she could see a planet in the view, grey and bleak as they made their way closer. The train shook a few times as they approached, and after a few minutes they landed, dust falling on the Spectrum. Lich came out of the engine room, and walked over to the door, still looking only straight ahead as the door on the side of the train was opened.
