Chapter CXCVII: Darkness Closing In ~Kaye

Kaye opened her eyes slowly. Her forehead was still warm where the figure had touched her, healing all of her major wounds. She hadn't been able to wake up right away, so she had been unable to thank him.

But what happened? Why am I back on the Spectrum?

She stared at the ceiling for a few minutes as she went over what she could remember of the fight with Orson before she had been knocked out. She sighed as she remembered Josh's death. She had been upset about Josh's death, and had let her guard down. Orson had taken full advantage of that and knocked her out.

Did Kyanosa finish the fight?

Kaye sat up slowly, feeling completely recovered, if not a little disoriented. She swung her legs off the bed and stood up, moving about various appendages to see if they were all in working order. Once she was sure they were, she made her way to the door and opened it. The hall was quiet and she made her way carefully to the main room, pausing at the door. She looked around carefully, so as to not draw attention to herself. Most of the attention in the room was on the large figure in a purple shirt who was holding a yellow book, reading it intently.

Kyanosa's book…

She looked around the room again, noting the black haired teen was not in the room, but if his book was on board, then he was here somewhere. She ducked back silently and walked back down the hall. She walked past the room she had been in, and peaked into the next. It was empty. She closed the door and then moved down to the next, opening it.
Havering stood inside, his back to her.

Figures. She moved back to close the door.

"But I would think you'd want to see what's in here," Pseudo said.

Kaye blinked. Havering stepped to the side, and only then was Kaye able to focus on what was beyond him. Josh lay out on one of the beds. He gave off a soft green glow, and the fatal wound on his head was gone. On the next bed lay Kyanosa, glowing the same green color as Josh.

"Seems a bit of a waste if you ask me," Havering said with a smirk. "Two of your companions dead just to take out one Twilighter."

"Dead…" Kaye moved forward, and the Time Bender watched her with a smirk. Kaye ignored him as she moved in between the two beds. Her mind was strangely calm as she looked at Kyanosa's unmoving body.

"Of course it's not like they will be missed. That one boy was hardly ever around, and the other, well I'm sure at least a few people are happy he's gone."

Kaye reached out slowly, and pulled the headband carefully from Kyanosa's head. She clutched it tightly in her hand, looking down at Kyanosa's unmoving body.

Kyanosa…dead… A part of her mind darkened with the thought as it repeated over and over. She turned abruptly, walked past Havering, and out of the room.

Mazzic was coming down the hall as she exited the room.

"Kaye…" he started, but she walked past him, and into the room she had woken up in. She shut the door firmly behind her and sealed it against anyone else entering. All she wanted was to be alone.
