Chapter CCX: Not Found on eBay Any Time Soon ~Multehx

The ground crunched under Vaurix’s every step. Scilas’s mind panicked wildly as he continued to try to get the strength to even raise his head, but none came to him. In moments, he was looking up at the robot standing over him, arms folded.

Vaurix tsked. “You really were a disappointment, you know?”

Scilas forced a wry smile behind his mask. “Well...I would guess you’re quite learned in what that’s supposed to look like.”

Vaurix’s eyes widened with rage and he lifted his boot to stomp it down and crush the assassin’s skull. Scilas closed his eyes, preferring to take the final blow honorably. He could hear the wind rushing by the descending foot as it plunged downward. His still working muscles tensed reflexively.

A loud CLANG! echoed throughout the air.

Opening his eyes, Scilas saw Kenzo standing over his opposite side, hand still extended from the mighty punch. Vaurix had skidded back standing, trails marked where his boots had dragged across the earth. He shook his head wildly, then focused on the Mechna Knight, eyes seething with anger.

“Y-y-you DARE interrupt the GREAT VAURIX DELEZZAH from his sport?!?!”

Kenzo grinned sans a mouth. “Heh, kickin a man when he’s down; pretty pathetic sport, if ya ask me.”

Steam billowed from the robot’s joints as his fists shook with rage. “You shut up!”

The knight chuckled and shouldered his massive axe. “Hmm, you sound just like the schizo kid now, ya know that? That’s a favorite a his. But you lack the cool hair; you really might want to try for a toupee I’d say.”

“SILENCE you metallic MORON! Robots don’t need hair!!”

“So natural low self confidence, hmm?”

“Not at all!! You lack hair and you seem pretty damn cocky!!”

“I’m a knight, we wear helmets, so it wouldn’t matter.”

D’Naayh!! I tire of this! I’ll just eliminate you here and now!”

Holding the BAAX defensively, Kenzo grinned. “Come on, Mr. Roboto; let’s see just how great an EX-Infect is!”

Vaurix growled deep in his throat. The green aura surrounded him then died down just as quickly. He crossed his arms, threw them out to the side, threw both elbows back at his waist and emitted a burst of steam from his joints.

He turned to the side and threw one hand out pointing at Kenzo. “To the junkyard with ya!”

His wings spread in an instant snapping sound. Spinning on one foot, the wind began to pick up around him, soon forming a mighty tornado around his body. When the massive funnel of wind reached about nineteen feet above the ground, the green robot leapt out of its base backwards. Thrusting a hand at Kenzo again, palm open this time, Vaurix didn’t move an inch. The tornado, however, began to instantly and quite rapidly bear down on the knight.

Instantly the strange wind phenomena tore Kenzo to individual pieces of armor, carrying them around and upwards in its torrents. Finally, it dissipated and the pieces rained down, clattering into a pile on the ground. Vaurix laughed evilly.

“HA! What irony! I guess his bravery far out-weighed his durability! Well–“

He cut himself off from completing that statement as the pieces began to shake rapidly, flying from the ground and reconnecting themselves into the form of Kenzo Yhezl.

Vaurix fumed. “WHAT?! How can this be?!”

Kenzo chuckled and took up his massive axe in one hand. “You obviously don’t know much of our kind; that sorta tickled really, I will admit.” Taking a fighting stance again, his eyes grew serious. “Now, it would be my turn I believe.”

Twirling the handle in one hand, the knight focused more intently as he charged on his opponent, leaping off the ground as he drew closer, landing on the robot’s shoulders with his boots, pushing off with all his might and soaring into the sky, then finally descending rapidly, axe held overhead in both hands. As he landed, his knees bowed and the axe came blazing down, full force. Vaurix just stood motionlessly as Kenzo removed the blade of one side of the double-sided weapon from the green head-shield, where it had embedded deeply. Near instantly, a hairline crack formed down its center, from front to back. Then, the crack was audible as it split neatly in two.

Hurriedly stepping back in shock, the robot’s hands flew up to hold the injured part of himself. “That...that was SOLID METALLOY!!... How the DEVIL did you destroy it so easily?!?! And with such a crude weapon!!”

Kenzo smirked and slowly advanced. “Dunno, shall we test it some more?”

Vaurix stumbled backwards and turned, starting to shift into his flight-mode and run at the same time. He gave a short hop and shot into the air, soaring back up the mountain. Kenzo wound back his arm with the hand holding the axe handle, and heaved it with all his might at a short distance from where the robot was flying. The axe spun through the air, gleaming in what little sunlight still shone over the horizon. Its aim proved true as it collided with one of Vaurix’s wings; denting it and turning it down slightly. As the axe fell to the path below and clattered to a stop, the robot began to barrel-roll wildly in the air, his flight path turning downwards at a sharp angle. Within moments, the sounds of an echoing crash greeted Kenzo’s ears. Then, silence.

Shaking his helmet, Kenzo held a metal hand out at his axe. It vibrated in the same way the individual pieces of him had, then shot from the ground over and into his waiting hand. Shouldering it again, he turned, walked over, slung Scilas over one shoulder and headed back for the spectrum, shaking his head.

“You know, I really hate doing that, but some of ‘em just ask for it…”
