Chapter CCXXVII: I Blame It All on Someone Else ~Multehx

Multehx groaned, face down in the soft earth. The grass stirred slightly in the warm breeze. Coughing a few times and spitting out dirt and grass he had gotten in his mouth from being deposited there, he got to his feet and looked around.

Wherever he was, it looked to be out in the middle of the country. It was a summer's afternoon, the grass and trees were green, and a gentle breeze blew over the rolling hills he was among.

This made him feel cheerier than he had been feeling. He looked about for any signs of life. There were small animals from the forest, and insects, as were usual to these locations, but no people.

He began to set off up the hills when a pillar of black fire erupted before him. He leapt back and readied himself for any sort of confrontation that might result. As the flames died away, a figure stood in their wake. He brushed back a strand of his green hair and adjusted his cloak.

Multehx growled and folded his arms. The other looked at him with mock surprise.

"Oh! What? You're not glad to see me??" He faked being hurt by this fact. 707 muttered something under his breath.

"Cut the comedy, what do you want, you style thief."

"Heh, you should be flattered I look this way. Afterall, I think you're the double of me. No one but the real article could feel as comfortable looking so absolutely drop-dead handsome but the genuine article."

Multehx snorted. "Exactly, hence why I should say that and you should envy me for it."

Tehxnot'lucan smirked. "Touché, fellow looks sharer."

"Well, why are you here anyway, and where the hell is HERE supposed to be??"

T'Lucan shrugged. "Figured you'd get to that sooner than later; we do love being frank." He extended his hands in both directions. "Here, I'm afraid, I can't tell you the answer. That would be cheating."

"Cheating?! How so?"

"Dear, dear Multehx, as I've told you before–" T'Lucan grinned wide and folded his arms behind him. "Life's a game! Live hearty and live well, spare not going for the broke when the risk presents itself!" He paced for a bit, then turned and spoke again. "As for the first question, tres simple answer, my good man. The events which did happen seem to have stranded your little crew hither and yon across the spans of the grand multiverse."

"...say what?"

"Well, Lieutenant Nimrod, you recall all the strange stuff that happened – the lightning, thunder, planet shaking and all the special effects? That triggered some greater supernatural stuff, which flung you all in every which way."

"Well, why didn't you get stranded??"

T'lucan beamed. "I did, but then again, I picked up our shadow rituals faster, so I know how to fire teleport."

"...I really don't like you, did I mention that?"

"No, but your sword did leave that impression on me last we clashed, but anyway, so now you're all stranded here in who knows where, trying to find some way to do whatever it is you'll do from here; again, I know what you should do, but I can't reveal that." He grinned and winked.

Multehx groaned. "So, anything else I should know?"

His double thought a moment, and then nodded. "Yes, I would think so, you probably aren't half prepared for what awaits you down the road, so I'd be on the subconscious look out for any ways to get in some major training in a short period of time, or more man power to back you up. And that pretty colored princess lizard, well, my partner and I, we have a lair of sorts; I kidnapped her, and confined her there. Heh heh. To make this all just that much more fun for you – seems one of those huge evils is located on this planet, so good luck in not running into it; hope you don't die in too many nasty ways!"

With a laugh, Tehxnot'lucan was gone.

Multehx groaned and shook his head. "Not even worth it to try out the cell phone, it can't reach across dimensions. However, there is one man who could put me through... Grinning, he opened the cell phone and cleared his mind. He meditated on this for a time, but began to grow frustrated as nothing resulted. He tried harder, and still, nothing.

"Grah!! Every time I needed to call him in the past, some number just pops into my head, I dial it, and I reach him! But nothing! Hrm...I guess I try this the old fashioned way..."

Clearing his throat, he put his hands to his mouth and yelled at the top of his lungs, "You novice wanna-be guardian of existence, I need to talk to you, RIGHT NOW!!!"

His voice carried on the wind, resounded through the forests, and echoed across the plains. He waited for a time, but once more, the results were the same. Multehx shook his head, sighing. It was time for the old, old, OLD method: search and discover. He thought for a moment, then headed to the open plains, figuring nothing could go wrong on the open plains, them being plains, and so open.
