Chapter
CCXXIX: Threshold ~Lady North
Lady North stopped outside of Kyara'nya's
door, her hand resting lightly on the handle. She sighed and looked up at the
white marble ceiling, wondering what it was all coming to. Everything was
becoming so boring lately. She was really nothing more than a mother to the
Children anyway, since she left Aa'ron to run the
lines. Da'ana felt there was something missing within
herself. Something that had not been there for a long time, and something that
she missed deeply.
"You novice wanna-be
guardian of existence, I need to talk to you, RIGHT NOW!!!"
The woman groaned inwardly. Well, she was the one who just wished for
more excitement. And maybe, if she was lucky, it would delay the answer she had
to give her brothers the following morning. Her hand fell from the handle to Kyara'nya's door, and she raised the front of her dress
slightly to make for easier climbing back up the stairs to the Observation Room.
"Aa'ron, give me the stats," she
told the High Priest who was furiously pushing away at buttons on the main
control panel.
"Well, I have his location, but neither he nor the location has a
name that shows up on the profile. It's not too far, but seems like the area
has been having...issues...lately with different beings want to take stuff
over, I guess. Anyway, I can have a portal ready for you in about five
minutes," he told her.
Lady North nodded, and sank into her lavender chair, breathing in the
soothing scent.
"Have you thought about the answer you're going to give your
brothers?" he asked her, glancing her way from the keyboard. Da'ana sighed again, closing her eyes and pressing the
heels of her hands into them.
"Not quite. I just don't know what to do Aa'ron.
I need to get out of here so bad. I should just go take a walk out on the snow
dunes and see if I can find another dragon egg to incubate. That would make use
of my oodles of time."
"Well...yes...but first..."
"I know I have to take care of this. Is the portal ready yet?"
"Yes, Lady." the High Priest said, as a blue door materialized
between two white pillars on the side of the room. Da'ana
stood up, tightened the braids in her hair, and then opened the door.
"Aa'ron?" she asked hesitantly.
"Yes, my Lady?"
"Erm...never
mind."
And with that, Da'ana stepped through the
threshold, and closed the door.
