Chapter
CCXXXV: This is an Adventure After All ~Multehx
Multehx still sat at the camp fire,
one eyebrow raised. He looked from face to face incredulously. There was Fulsta, eating a cooked bit of meat. True, he was a
bit...trippy, to say the least, but you had to have some way of relieving...well,
whatever it was that was bothering him. Then there was the white lady. She
seemed to be some higher "deity" figure or whatnot. Regal, outspoken...haughty as an English noble. He mentally
groaned and turned to the third and last member of this crew. Looked mortal,
young, had some thing going on with his hands...yeah, this kid might have
potential.
But...then
again, he looked awfully green. And not in the flesh tone, as someone was only
lucky to look that naturally that stylish. The kid probably did a bit of
hunting, the whole nature-living look pointed to this. But when it came to
actual combat....when it came to maniacal, power hungry, devious and vile
rogues of villains, or sadistic, twisted, evil robots...when it came to having
a fist put through your chest and then subsequently thrown off a building by a
hand around your spine....yep, that was when you knew what it was to fight.
But this...he sighed. These three might help him usurp one or two of the Council, but Pseudo was another story...
And C.R., he was
still AWOL, somehow, contact had to be re-established
there. And also, what of the other wanderers? And for
that matter, the bloody train??
Multehx groaned, muttering some greeting to the new-comer and walking away from the camp fire and to the edge of the clearing and the beginning of a forest. He folded his arms and shook his head.
"This is turning into a hell right out of American
Living...I just pray the others are faring well."
* * * * *
Scilas looked up at the sudden lack of door to the door out into the hall. He scrutinized the man for a minute. Finally, he coolly remarked, "And what do you have with him if we have?"
Redaz was about to reply when D'Nel spoke up. "Easy, assassin. I know this guy."
Scilas glanced at him, a bit taken
back. "Really? You provide useful information at
last??"
D'Nel glared heatedly at him. "And what's that supposed to mean?!"
Scilas smirked mentally and shook his head. "Forget it. So who is he?"
"Oh, from shadowing the agent back during the whole 'Zolott Affair'–"
"Which wasn't really nice enough to be a proper affair," Redaz interjected.
"I learned of this guy and first saw him on the big dark and scary ship-"
"The Genesis I think."
"Yes, the Genesis, the battleship with many an evil thing that tried to kill us-"
"But we used fire, and the schizo metal pants wearer did that rock thing and saved us from drowning."
"Well, maybe your group, but didn't help me any." D'Nel shot back.
"Well, you should have been. He was an interesting fellow, just like the wolf-kid, but stranger and less hairy."
D'Nel shrugged and continued. "Well, this guy was a real pyromaniac, not that that's a bad thing when you're trying to destroy a place. But like I said, he was a wizard type fellow. His name's–"
"Redaz,” The wizard said with a dramatic pose. “Master of fire control. The Lesser Known enemy of Pseudo Havering."
D'Nel nodded, impressed a bit indeed.
Scilas got up and stood in front of Redaz, extending a hand after a moment. "Well, any enemy of the Time Bender's a friend of ours." He thought for a minute then nodded, adding, "And you were around Kyanosa a lot, and still seem pretty in your right mind, so you must be a man of stamina."
Redaz nodded, shaking his hand. "Thanks, Mr..."
"Scilas. Call me Scilas."
Redaz nodded. "Alright, Scilas. Nice to meet you. So what's our first point of business?"
"Wastes no time getting down to work, always a decent quality." Scilas grinned behind the face-mask. "Well, first, I thought we could split up, check out the market-type-area here, and try to dig up some clues." He glanced at a clock on the wall. "We'll meet up here around, say...it's almost two now, so...three AM? We'll get some shut eye then."
The three agreed
on this. Each pocketed a copy of the room key before setting out for the packed
market and possible leads on where to go next.
