Chapter CCLVI:
Time is an Illusion ~Fulsta
The days seemed
to pass with very little of relevance being said between the group. Tensions
between everyone and Fulsta began to mount. He knew
who they were and what their deal was, but they knew less about this native
then they did about this world. He was always watching them.
Lady North could
have sworn on the breezes she saw someone watching her walk toward the
designated bathing lake. She would even wake at night to find Fulsta in the trees looking down at them. His horrid red eyes
almost seemed to glint in the moonlight; she just despised him from the start.
Kentaro was more confused and scared of him then anything. He always seemed to have a smug feeling to him, as if he knew more about Kentaro than Kentaro knew about his people as a whole. He couldn't shake the feeling that something bad would happen.
Cat senses; never did get used to them though, I mean
he does catch some good food around here, and I do like food...I guess he's ok, he would think to himself now and then when those nagging doubts started
to eat away at his mind.
Multehx didn't care how anyone acted right now. Someone could have walked him into a bear trap and out if it could help get him some coherent perspective of where in the Seven Circles of Hell he was. No denying Fulsta was creepy, but so was just about everyone else he knew. At least the guy had a sick sense of humor, unlike the Lady who perpetually was in stick up ass mode, and the kid was too naïve to understand anything at all.
I'm still not too sure how much longer I should stay
with these...people, he kept thinking to himself as
they walked through the light brush.
Fulsta was still trying to figure out
what exactly was the time. It had been bothering him since he had been on the
rock...if at all it had to be ten in the morning, but it felt more like eleven.
This bothered him as it was hard to deduce when lunch was. No matter. He heard
a twig snap to the left of them, he stoped and raised his hand for them to
stop.
The group stoped Kentaro bumping into Fulsta and giving a high pitched yelp.
"Shut up you fool; something is out there," he said through gritted teeth.
"What's out there?" asked Tehx.
"Hmm, I'd say a human," he said carefully.
"Wait, what do you mean, ‘human’? I thought you were one!" Kentaro accused him.
"Did I ever say that?"
"No...but I thought..."
"You thought wrong," he said, glaring at the kid.
He turned back and crouched down slowly drawing a kriss-blade sword from under his long flowing cape.
Suddenly a bolt flew through the air with a crack and was narrowly dodged by Kentaro with much acrobatic fitness. He landed on top of a tree branch in a pounce position.
"That was easy," Kentaro said, regretting that statement. Just then a flurry of about seventy bolts came from all directions of the brush. He quickly flattened and the others on the ground did so too, trying their best to avoid this flurry of never-ceasing fire.
"Well I guess they mean business," Savat said griping his sword tighter.
"Yah think?!" yelled Tehx to Fulsta. "What are we going to do?!"
"What do you think?" he said, slowly standing up and quickly jumping toward where an arrow had come from.
A sickening
sound could be heard, and then the sound of dripping blood pierced the
momentary silence. Fulsta emerged covered in blood,
and carrying the man’s still beating heart in his hand. He held it up in the
air, and then brought it down and took a large bite from it...
