Chapter CCLXIX: Time of Disaster ~Chrono

The bright moon sent a reflection into the lake which glared up at Chrono. He gave a sigh and somewhat of a smile. He looked up into the star-lit sky and stood up.

“It is getting really late…I need to rest,” he said as he spread his yellow wings and took off into the air.

The soft breeze felt heavenly on his face and under his wings. He came to a nearby village and landed at the border. He walked through a gate and looked around.

He saw a boy that was in his teenage years. He had somewhat of an English accent. The boy stared him down and asked, “Ayie govna‘. You look like a Yoshi. What is your name?”

Chrono looked at him. “Chrono Yoshi.. But you can just call me Chrono.”

“Aye…you have wings…not really normal are ya?”

Chrono shook his head.

“How fast do you think you can fly?”

“Never really considered that…I don’t really know,” Chrono, said looking at his wings.

The boy nodded then smirked. “So ‘ows about we race? I am the fastest runner of this village. Bet I could beat you.”

“No…that is okay…I am tired…and need rest.”

“Aye…I see now…you are scared that a poor little human like me could beat a strong healthy Yoshi like you,” the boy said.

He knew he had him when he saw Chrono’s expression change. Chrono eyed him, smirked, and said, “Okay then. You have yourself a challenge. Name the rules.”

The boy smirked and pointed to a tree away from the village.

“From that tree,” he said, “to the other edge of the village.”

Chrono nodded and the both walked over to the tree.

The boy began the countdown: “Three...two...one.…GO!!” he yelled as he took off.

Chrono spread his wings and darted off right behind him.

Wow…this kid is pretty fast…

They continued as Chrono took the lead. The boy, however, smirked and suddenly regained the lead.

Good grief! He is really fast!

They both continued into the village. They almost reached their goal.

Almost there…

But then, suddenly, something caught Chrono’s attention. He felt great energy coming from somewhere he did not know of.

What is this strange energy I feel?

Chrono did not stop flying. He continued as fast as he could, still focusing on the energy. He wasn’t watching where he was going, and at that moment, he slammed into the side of a house that was near the Blood Rose Inn. He yelled out from the pain and fell to the ground. The shockwave made a few logs that were leaning on a fence post fall on him as well. He was then knocked unconscious. The boy stopped and rushed back over to see what the matter was and saw that Chrono’s body wasn’t moving.

“Aye, buddy, wake up!” he said as he knelt down, but no response.

The boy got nervous and asked around for help. He got a few older men to help. They brought him into the Blood Rose Inn.

The boy ran up to the Innkeeper and asked, “Please kind sir, please spare a room for a wounded Yoshi.”

The innkeeper nodded and led them into a spare room.

“We will take care of him…run along now, boy,” the innkeeper said.

The boy gave a sigh of relief as he walked out. He gave a glance at Travallian and walked out. Chrono was still lying in the bed, unconscious. That blow to the head was bad.

A doctor walked into the inn and into Chrono’s room. The doctor put some bandages and ointment on Chrono‘s wounds, but did nothing else.

“All he needs is a little rest,” the doctor declared. He nodded and walked out.

The yellow Yoshi was now sleeping peacefully in bed, still hurting slightly from the wounds.
