Chapter
CCCXII: A Second Meeting? A New Weapon ~Chrono
Chrono began coughing as he was pulled out of the building’s debris. When he
was laid on the ground, he began to breathe roughly. His breathing slowed somewhat
as he opened his eyes.
“Never do that again!” a familiar voice shrilled in his ear. He cringed
as he heard it, and then smirked, somewhat.
“Heh…sorry. Had to do what I had to do,” Chrono said, smiling at Jeremy.
He slowly sat up, rubbing his head. Making his staff appear, he raised
it into the air above him. A sudden beam of light engulfed him, and quickly
faded. He and his clothes were completely soot-free. The blood from the cuts
had even disappeared and all that could be seen were the cuts. He slowly stood
up, leaning on his staff for support.
Chrono turned his head and looked at his wing. It was broken. A minor fraction, however. He growled somewhat under his
breath. After he growled, he sighed. He knew he wouldn’t be flying for a bit.
The woman that the baby belonged to walked up to Chrono.
“Thank you…thank you so much…I couldn’t live without my baby…I don’t
know what I’d have done without you,” she said, and slowly kissed Chrono on the cheek.
At that instant, Chrono began to blush
uncontrollably.
“N…no problem at all…” he stuttered a few times.
The young woman giggled slightly.
Near there, little did they know, a wolf was hiding behind a building,
watching them. The wolf seemed human-like. It had long blonde humanish bangs and long hair coming from the back. It had a
wolfish smirk on his mouth. It was up to something. Or
waiting.
Chrono gave another sigh. He looked at his staff, knowing he didn’t have
healing powers. The yellow Yoshi shrugged it off and gave somewhat of a
chuckle. Suddenly, without warning, a message went through his mind.
Meet me in the forest out of town, the message said.
Chrono looked around, almost shocked. He looked at Jeremy, then at some of the
people around him.
“What was that?” he muttered to himself. He looked at Jeremy again and
said, “I will be back in a few minutes… I… have to go check something.”
Chrono began to run off out of the town and into the woods close to the town.
He slowed to a walk as he entered the forest.
Wow…I had more energy than I had thought, Chrono thought to himself.
There, he saw an odd, yet familiar looking character by the lake in the
middle of the forest. He had a cloak surrounding his body.
Chrono walked up to him. “Were you the one that sent me that mental message?”
he asked.
“I am,” the person replied.
“Wait a minute… you… you’re the one that gave me my staff!” Chrono said as he got closer to him.
The elder nodded slightly.
“Why did you call me here!?” he said in surprise.
“I am here to deliver a message,” the elder began as he walked closer to
Chrono, “Someone close to you is in danger. When you
get rested, you have to teleport to a planet called ‘Umihaikyo’.
There, someone close to you will be exploring. You have to protect them.
Something bad may happen to them. You must be careful.”
Chrono looked at the elder with a strange expression on his face. “Someone close to me?” he asked.
The elder nodded. “Summon your staff,” the elder said.
Again, Chrono looked at him with a strange
expression, but shrugged and did as told.
The elder rose his hands and faced his palms
towards Chrono. He started to chant something in a
completely different language. Suddenly, a golden ring appeared around Chrono. He gasped, not knowing what was happening. Then, the
ring of light grew taller and wider, engulfing Chrono.
Soon after, the blinding light dimmed. It slowly faded. Chrono
was still shielding his eyes. When he lowered his hands, he noticed something
about his staff. It wasn’t the same staff anymore. It wasn’t even a staff now.
It was a pure topaz-bladed, golden handled sword. On the two cross-guards on
the handle, the points were crescent moon shapes.
“Whoa…” was all that Chrono was able to say.
He also noticed that all of his cuts were gone and
that his fractured wing wasn’t broken anymore.
“It’s called the Sword of Dreams. The topaz blade will never break and
the edge will never dull. You will need this later. All I can say to you now is
good luck,” the elder said.
A snap of a twig came out of no where. Chrono
jumped around to see what it was. It was just a small raccoon scrambling up a
tree. He sighed and turned back around to face the old Yoshi. But to his
dismay, he wasn’t there.
“What the…” he said and looked around. He sighed, knowing the same thing
happened almost ten years ago. “Crazy old man…” he muttered and started to walk
out of the forest.
The words of the elder Yoshi kept repeating in his mind. Chrono shook his head as he made it back into town. He kept
staring at his new sword.
“I am going to need this later?” he repeated.
He looked at Jeremy as he approached him.
“I am back,” Chrono said.
