CCCXVI: Festive Foregoing ~Multehx
And so, the Yoshies did have merry enjoyment in the village. And the Dark Lich obviously witnessed the spectacle from his safe positioning. As did Malachai. But the events that occurred on the precise moment as clouds wafted past the moon and darkened the landscape, a harbinger did strike.
At first, there
was only a simple glinting in the heavens within a cluster of stars. Then, a
shrill whistling grew louder and louder still. The mass blazed towards the
planet's surface, a ball of fire engulfing them as they shot for terra firma.
Instead of the expected impact and devastating earthquake that would result,
the mass simply collected upon the ground. It rapidly began to collect and
reform into a massive figure. The being's body shone of metal, it had shoulder
plates for shoulders, and its body simply topped off at a collar. The mass then
continued to form along its back. Slender steely tentacles formed off it,
banded at numerous spots along each. In their grasp was a motionless, round
body. Upon its face was a diamond of amazing blue depths and an almost elliptical
eye within the metal plating on the left side of its head that was simply black
nothingness.
The being stretched out its arms, shaking slightly and emitting an ungodly low growl to the heavens as it stretched. As it relaxed, it slowly turned in the direction of the village over the horizon. Its nonexistent eyes narrowed and a demented grin did not spread over its lack of face.
"I've been looking for you, Malachai" it snickered, cracking it's knuckles, "but it seems I finally hit the jackpot. I'm detecting numerous lifeforms that way, and your signature looms over the place like a foul bird, lying in wait to strike."
It chuckled in the same low tone as it slowly walked towards the village. "Don't rest easy yet, I think I'm going to beat you to the punch. And no one's around who can stop me."
It glanced over it's shoulder at the motionless figure in its clutches. It remained motionless.
"Hmm, no smart-ass response for once, eh? Suits me just fine."
Nonth snickered, continuing on his
way. He only hesitated for a moment, as a severe electric shock overcame him
and he collapsed to both knees. His body twitched as the current continued. He
rambled something incoherently, trailing off as the buzzing and voltage faded.
He knelt there for a time. Then, rising to his feet again, he started once more
for the village as if nothing had ever deterred him.

The festivities continued in the village. Everyone continued their means of amusement. Some danced, some played music on their rather primitive instruments, and others simply engaged in banter. Markior lectured to some of the elder members of the tribe, explaining the various points of Yoshi history he was well-versed in. Naaro sat and watched some of the young Yoshies play their games around the bonfire built for the occasion. Only Lich and Ark stood at the verge of the village. They were focused on something nearing them from the forest just beyond. A crashing could be heard from the trees, and on occasion, one would topple over under some amazing force indeed.
From the timbers walked a very massive...well, it wasn't human. It stood at about ten foot even, no neck or head rising from its collar, the earth shaking slightly at it's every step, and something...very familiar being carried by the metallic tentacles protruding from its back.
After a few moments of walking, it towered before the two. It held its arms folded hostilely over its chest, seeming to glower down at them.
Finally, in a voice that rang of cold steel and as forceful as the volcano, it spoke. "So..." it simply stated, going silent again.
Lich gripped his boomerang tighter as a reflex reaction. Out of nowhere, this new behemoth lowered its body and reeled its tendrils back. Then, with a violent and abrupt snapping forward, it sent the object it was toting hurdling towards the more orange of the two. The thing knocked Lich clean off his feet and smashed him deep into the ground.
He scoffed, obviously unimpressed. "Pathetic." he simply stated as he began to walk towards the center of the village.
Mere moments
later, the music suddenly died off and the talk subsided.
