Chapter CCCXXIX: Not Quite the Marriott ~Prism

"Are we there yet?" Prism muttered as she and her rescuer shot through the sky in the form of two small stars.

"Almost,” Daedalus replied, his green glow flickering in slight annoyance. “Be patient, already. It's definitely worth it. The favorite inn of all my travels."

"I certainly hope so," the princess replied. "Even in this star form, I still feel filthy!" A tiny rumble came from her cyan glow. "And rather hungry too."

"Ah, there it is now." the bodyguard announced, moving towards a nearby planet at a rapid rate. "Follow me."

Prism twinkled as if nodding and shot after him. They descended through the atmosphere at top speed, and came to the charred skeleton of a building.

Daedalus circled the inn nervously before reverting to Hoshian form. "No...what happened here?"

Prism reverted as well, narrowing her eyes. She was much cleaner now; the star form had burned off much of the dirt that had collected on her rainbow skin, though she still looked in need of a bath.

"Is this the wonderful 'Blood Rose Inn' you were talking about?" Her nose wrinkled in disgust. "Whatta gyp!"

She straightened her ponytail, the feathers of her wings ruffling slightly in frustration.

"Nevermind. I'm going to see if there's a freshwater lake or hot spring around here somewhere. You go through town and see if anyone is willing to provide us a meal for a fair price. I'll meet you back here in an hour; and please, don't follow me if you wish to remain alive."

"Yes, Your Highness," Daedalus grumbled and trodded away.

Prism sighed and took to flight, scanning the wilderness below with her sapphire optics. After a few minutes, she spotted a hot spring in the darkness.

"What perfect luck!" she squealed happily as she descended. After checking the area to make sure nobody or no danger was nearby, she quickly doffed her clothing, untied her ponytail, and stepped into the hot spring.

"Ahhh, perfect..." she sighed, sinking into the steaming water.

Meanwhile, Daedalus didn't quite have the same luck. So far, five different families had shunned his request, and he was beginning to feel quite annoyed.

"Of course that could be because most of them are trying to sleep," he muttered to himself. "But of course I don't think Prismaya realized that." His attention was diverted by two figures in the dark. "Someone's actually up this early? Excellent, maybe they can help."

He crossed his fingers and approached the figures. One of them looked a great deal like a Hoshi. He had yellow skin, long golden hair, and golden wings with red tipped feathers. But the boy wasn't a Hoshi, otherwise Dae would have sensed the starpower within. He was a Yoshi; though a Yoshi with great potential. The second figure appeared to be a humanoid of some sort, though he sensed much more within him as well. Dae instinctively put his hand on his sword hilt as a precautionary measure, and approached the two.

"Hail and Hello, good sirs. Might one of you be able to spare me and my mistress, Princess Prismaya, a meal? She has just been rescued from an awful prison and has yet to eat. We will compensate with a fair price."
