CCCLIX: The Wind and the Wizard ~Redaz
Redaz sat next to the Maestro. He looked out into the woods but kept his mind on the odd man. He didn't like when people were so utterly knowledgeable about things they shouldn't be. CR had supposedly removed Zolott from everyone's memories, Redaz knew this from both D'Nel and Scilas, and his own experience of having forgotten it, for a while. This man on the other hand knew that Redaz had been on Zolott, despite having never been there as far as the wizard had been informed. Moreover, he had presented this information unprompted, suggesting he had known it for some time. Redaz didn't like being uninformed, and he was currently grossly uninformed.
"We're being followed," he stated quietly. Ratch and Kenzo were having a quiet conversation, something about lizards and decent human beings. Only the maestro heard what he had said.
"We are not moving," he turned his head toward the wizard, despite the fact that his eyes were covered, "or am I beginning to lose my senses?"
"I mean we've been followed. They're still there."
"I have heard nothing on the winds, I have sensed nothing nearby."
"They're good. They're discreet, but they're there. I can feel it."
"Intuition is a poor tool, wizard. Perhaps you're simply paranoid."
Redaz stood and stepped away from the small camp they'd made, "Send one of them to get me when you're finished resting. I fell it rude to make us stop a trek you started in the first place and then make them think it's in their best interests."
He strode
through the trees hoping to put some distance between himself and the Maestro.
Perhaps whoever was following them would be easier to stand. If nothing more,
finding them would show the Maestro a thing or two about intuition.
