CCCLXXIX: Resignation ~Multehx
In the darkened chamber, upon the throne, he sat, looking off into the distance, at nothing, yet at plenty. In a burst of black fire, another stumbled into the room. He groaned, several bruises and a few cuts over his body. He had hidden such things for quite some time, but he did not have the energy to forever.
As the demon made his way to stand before the man seated, the seated figure glared through the darkness. "T'lucan, why are you back here so early? And why do you look so haggard? And…where the hell is my staff?"
Tehxnot'lucan shook his head. "That lizard trashed me a bit…but, I just couldn't hide all the wounds from when his friends trounced me earlier. Didn't want to fight him showing I was hurt and bleeding, he probably thinks this was just an off day for me."
The seated Mayhem frowned. "T'lucan, where…is the bloody staff."
The Twilighter winced. "Well…the lizard. He took it…when I dropped it in the fight."
Mayhem's claws nearly shredded the arm rests of the ornate stone chair. "You…lost…it?!" he hissed, growling. "You incompetent fool!! That staff held a very rare stone upon it; I was planning on obtaining the rest as soon as I was more fully restored in body! I granted you permission to utilize it as I felt you a competent warrior who'd be able to hang onto it!" He spat, growling. "Obviously, I was wrong. I gave it to a total fool! A bungler who went and lost it!"
T'lucan snarled. "I do apologize for that."
Mayhem rolled his eyes. "Oh, apologies for such setbacks really do help. I mean, I intend to be greater than my father, and you go and destroy all I have accomplished in one single screw up!" He glared. "I thought I was getting a strong warrior when I employed you."
The offended demon's eyes took on a glint of cold, hating fire. "Are…you saying…that I'm weak in your opinion…"
"Damn straight I am."
At this, the situation seemed to change. T'lucan's claw shot out, grabbing his employer by the throat and yanking him to stand, cracking his petrified legs quite violently. His eyes met with those of the now shocked Mayhem's, and they struck a chord of total terror in the son of the Time Bender.
The green
demon's breath was hot, steamy, and reeking of total evil. "Listen here;
make no mistake, Mayhem, Sir, I, me, not him, is the strong one!
I am the stronger half! You know I am! When you hired me, you hired the best in the field." He growled
ferociously, raising the other's eyes to peer more closely into his own.
"Kindly. Never. Ever! Call.
He snarled, hurling his employer to the floor, who, in his petrified state, could not retaliate.
"That word has haunted him for all of his life, and thus, haunted me as well. I’d rather not be reminded of my roots and more pitiful period of my existence!"
Mayhem forced himself to turn over, holding out his hand in the trademark Shadow Blast firing position, but T'Lucan deftly kicked it, a loud snap echoing as it pitched violently to the floor. Mayhem bellowed in agony. Tehxnot'lucan took his sword from his back, it droning lowly as it fully activated.
"You…you have no control! You've gone beserk!" Mayhem shouted. "Stop this instant!! I know how you were made, I know how to unmake you!"
T'lucan glared and lashed out with his sword. There was a hollow thud and a rolling sound, followed by the sound of a slightly petrified body hitting the ground and cracking. "Consider this my resignation."
He turned towards the grand safe against the far wall. As he walked over to it, he said determinedly to no one in particular, "Time for me to seek employment elsewhere, after collecting my pay from you."
He opened the safe and rummaged around in it. After tossing aside numerous objects of varied value. Finally, he saw something that caught his eye and he took hold, removing it.
The thing was a slightly rusty blade still sticking out of a bit of rock. He smirked. It was almost cliché, how such things were of immense power indeed, and this fact stuck true from stories to life, he found. Slipping it under his cloak, he smirked, heading for the exit.
"Been a pleasure doing business with you." he smirked, the large oaken doors swinging shut for the last time he would pass through them.
