Chapter CCCLXXXI: Am I Useless? ~Rainstorm
"This cloak is doing me absolutely no good at all. I can't even see because the damn wind is whipping my hood about."
"Stop, let me try something," Rainy said, feeling quite disturbed by the recent change in weather. He was rather annoyed at the weather at the present moment and decided that it needed a change. As much as he liked storms, this wind was getting on his nerves.
Ray Noh and D'Nel stopped to humor the blue lizard, wondering what he was going to do. He began to speak a language neither of them quite understood, but rather it seemed like gibberish to them.
"What the hell is he..." D'Nel started; but before he could finish a giant flash of light flew forth from Rainstorm's hands and his wings began to glow. His voice got louder and louder and Ray and D'Nel were quite worried that someone might notice his hijinx. So Ray grabbed him by the hood and dragged him into a nearby alley with D'Nel following close behind.
"What do you think you're doing?" Rainy asked, quite exasperated at being disturbed in the midst of his spellcasting.
"Do you think it's a good idea to make a damn spectacle of yourself in the middle of the street? It's not safe," said D'Nel.
So after much grumbling Rainy started again. But before he could get completely into it Ray Noh shook him again.
"What now?"
"Try to keep your voice down this time."
"…I'll try," said Rainy, quickly losing patience.
So again, the precipiwizard began to mutter to himself and again the flash of light erupted leaving Rainy suspended in the air, his glowing wings gently flapping. D'Nel and Ray Noh had to shield their eyes and were thrown to the ground in the following air shock that radiated from Rainy. After a few seconds, they got up and brushed themselves off wondering what that spell was supposed to do in the first place.
"Uh…did it work?" Ray asked, confused.
"…I didn't sense any sort of change…" Rainy said to himself quietly.
He had never before experienced a failure in his magic and this was quite perturbing to him. Crux popped out of his cloak right then wondering what all the commotion was about. But she saw the frown on Rainy's face and decided it may be better for her to stay inside and so she quickly retreated back to her sleeping spot.
At the same time, two figures appeared at the end of the alley, looking very intrigued by what Rainy had just done. Ray and D'Nel turned to look at them, but Rainy was too deep in thought to notice any of them for the moment.
--------------------------------------------
Tachi and Chrono were contemplating going down the alley to talk to the three odd looking people, but they hesitated.
"Think this is a good idea Chrono?" asked Tachi. "After all, we don't really know them, and it could just be co-incidence..."
"I think we should go check it out. It's worth a shot. Besides, maybe that Yoshi there will be able to help us out. That Prism person from before seemed nice enough. Besides, he and I have something in common: we're both winged Yoshies!"
So with that, Chrono started down the alley and marched right past D'Nel and Ray who were still quite confused about who this person was and why they had failed to notice them.
"Excuse me, but can I ask about the magic that you just cast? Do you happen to be the cause of all of this odd wind going around?"
"…"
"Uh…Mister...uh..." Chrono stumbled as he turned to Ray Noh and D'Nel finally acknowledging their presence. "What happens to be this one’s name?"
D'Nel just kind of stared at this new Yoshi for a moment and wondered what was going on. However, he did after a moment of thinking remember that this Yoshi had asked a question. Now what was it.....?
"Sorry, what?"
"I asked what this Yoshi’s name was."
"Oh, Rainstorm."
"Mr. Rainstorm? Hello?"
"AUUUUGH!" shouted Rainy, startled out of his thinking and brooding over failing to stop the wind. "What?!"
"Uh, do you happen to be the cause of the wind around here lately? It seems different, like not natural. I just so happened to see a flash of light come out of this alley a moment ago, was that you?
"Yeah, that was me. Ha! Lotta good that spell did," Rainy said as he started to mumble to himself again.
"Are you controlling this evil-feeling wind?"
"No. I was actually trying to stop it just now," he said as he extended his hand to Chrono. "Rainstorm Seraph, First Rank Precipiwizard at your service."
"I'm Chrono and that wolf…err…human…err...werehuman....err werewolf…uh…nevermind...my friend down there is Tachi," said Chrono, throwing a wave to Tachi to come down. "Would you mind if we joined you for a bit? Maybe if we stick together here we'll figure out what this wind is all about."
Rainy was in agreement and Ray and D'Nel really didn't care either way, so all five walked out of the alley and looked around.
"What now?" asked Chrono.
"Who knows?
We've been all around this damn universe and I have no clue what's going
on," answered Rainy still in a bad mood because of his failed magic. "And
by the way, call me Rainy or Rainstorm; ‘Mister’ just doesn't sit right."
