Chapter XXII:Should Old Aquaintance Be Forgotten -Multex707

Multex groaned from his seat against the sicamore. His vision was still very stattic ridden in his robotic eye, and there was a nice crack down it too, and his diamond eye was spattered with dirt. He has been listening to the wind in the trees, and some faint echoing sounds that occasionally scared the birds away. By now, the feeling was back in his arms and he could open and close his fists, but his legs were still far from normal condition. After a bit of building his arm strength, he finally summoned up enough to move a hand into his top most inner pocket and draw out a small, red lense, apparently resembling his robotic eye's shape. Sliding the lense between his last two fingers, Multex winced as he smacked his knuckle hard into his cracked eye, sending the hairline deeper into it, and then smacking it again until it shattered. Groaning, he cleaned the broken lense pieces from the empty hole, then slid the replacement lense in. "Well, half vision back...with some fog." Catching his breath and relaxing his right arm, the agent used the strength in the left one to brush the filth from his Diamond eye, freeing up his vision in it. He wasn't too pleased by what he could now see either. Approaching from straigh ahead, sword drawn, was the flyer. Only it was out of flight mode and in it's humanoid form. Multex groaned and opted to remain still, as he knew struggling would only give this creep something more to smirk about. The mechanical figure stopped as it now stood over the Agent, looking down as if studying a new animal to be discovered. The two remained quiet for a long time, simply staring at each other, until, finally, the flyer moved a foot foward and knelt down, putting his blade in it's sheath. "Intending on talking before doin the deed, eh?" Multex questioned, somewhat lacking his cocky sarcastic edge. The mechanical eyes looked him over once more before finally a sound like an exhaled breath came from it. "I doubt I could even lay a hand on you...since you seem to have someone out there who wants to do it himself." Multex nodded as best he could. "Yeah....have a lot of those. So...what faction might you be from? Be nice to know who else i can add to the "people who want me dead" list." The mechanical being made a sound that resembled what you could call a smirk. "I'd be from ISADBA. I know you've had run ins with others of us before, so you must know you're worth a pretty penny to the right people." For the first time in their conversation, the agent relaxed up a bit, smirking himself. "Interstellar And Dimensional Bountyhunters Association....yeh, I've had a few good ones with you guys before. What's the price up to now a days, been ages since i dropped by." The hunter made a whistling sound and appeared to be grinning as much as possible without a mouth. "Six figures, nearing seven." Multex looked a bit surprised. "...That's IT? Geeze...I must be slowing down! It's the vacation that did it, most likely." The hunter laughed in reply and shrugged. "Must be. Well, it seems you're still as blasted confident as ever, just like they said. Legs under repair, arms 59% operational and still with the humor in the face of death. This is just the norm for you now, isn't it?" The Agent grinned at that one and chuckled a bit. "Unfortunately, yeah. ..so, If you're not going to earn your pay, help me up already will ya?" The bounty hunter chuckled and put the agent's support over a shoulder, heading in the direction of the forest. After a bit of travelling, Multex turned his gaze to the helpful foe. "So..what're you called back home? Need to know so i can schedule an appointment for you trying to finish me. I'm pretty booked up currently though, I'm warning you, so you'll have to take a number." The robot laughed and shook his head as they edged along. "I'm known as Vaurix. Expert of run and guns, Air or land combat, and surpassed most others of the orginazation in Shadowing a target. I'm not even going to ask yout name, 707." Multex grinned slightly. "I'd think you a rookie if you had to you know." Vaurix nodded, that grin still in his eyes. The two continued talking as they moved along, both having a lot of similarities in their job, and both realizing the other wasn't going to try and end it all right there. Not as things lay. Instead, the foes continued the conversation, not knowing when their next pleasant one may be, as always is living in their lifestyle of a series of unending fights.
After about fifteen minutes of traveling, the two stopped in a clearing by a small stream, Veaurix helping the Agent to a sitting position against a tree before himself taking a seat upon a rock, opposite. "So, seems we're both stuck here until the one responsible for this Rubik's Cube of a planet gets his, eh?" Vaurix questioned. "Yeah, that's about the half of it. Demonic lunatic who caused the big "events" two years ago back home." The agent replied, watching the bounty hunter's expression change instantly. "..What??...You mean, the thing behind...all that is HERE? Wait-a-sec! That one who broke up our battle...is...HE?..." Multex nodded and Vau whistled, shaking his head. "Damn...if there had been a breifing of this, I sure as hell wouldn't have trailed you through the rip. Dang...So, that...Sir "what's his name" is that punk in the cape and helmet?" "Sir Pseudo Havering...yeah, he's here. Suckered me in with a threat of hurting folks." "Because he wants the diamond, right?" "You've done your homework, eh vau?" Multex smirked. Vaurix nodded and tappes his foot, thinking. "Yes...but, why go to the trouble of creating an entire world just to get that when he could drag you halfway across the Rip and just fight you flat out? He has to have an alterior motive.." Multex nodded. "My thoughts exactly. He has some master plan he's always talking about. Have no clue in hell what that is, except that he wants power, a lot of it, and it has something to do with that wierd necklace he's always wearing." Veaurix glanced up, a bit puzzled "Necklace? Was it that black, spikey looking thing on the chain around his neck?" "Yeah, that. He nearly ripped my hand off when I grabbed that in our battle back home. Means something to him...and it should mean something to us, like a place to start investigating." Veaurix pasued, then grinned slightly. "Investigating? We? Heh...seems we've reached another same conclusion.." Multex returned a sly grin. "I figured that what we both want will come about by the same thing, I want to stop this nut and get back home, you want to try and collect on me but you can't until Pseudo's offed. Might as well work together on this one." "Solo, of course. I don't want it to be thought i was paling around with you back home and all, and I doubt you'd want that for your reasons as well." Multex nodded. "Of course. Solo it is, with occasional meet ups so we can find out a bit more." Both extended their hands silmutaneously and chuckled at that before shaking. "Well, I'm going to scout out a bit of the territory west of here.Didn't fly over that way yet since I've been following you. I saw there's some sort of town or whatnot directly north west of hear a good ways. Why don't we meet up there later on, after exploring this terrain?" Veaurix suggested. Multex nodded in agreement. "Sounds good to me. Meet there in a few days or so. Do try to keep out of the ever watching lunatic's way until then so I don't have to get sidetracked savin your rusty metal ar-" Veaurix raised his hands, grinning. "I won't. And you don't try to go any where until you've at least hit 70% repair on this legs. Else you'll just blow your systems again i estimate." Multex rolled his eyes and waved a dismissive hand. "I didn't ask for a doctor so git movin wingboy. I'm able to handle my own situations just fine. Worry about yer own hide." Veaurix grinned and shot the Agent his trademar gesture of a thumbs up followed by a clenched fist and arm back gesture. "See ya around, Agent." "You too, Hunter." Multex replied with a causal grin. He watched as the bounty hunter switched modes and rocketed off, soaring at just above treetop height. Then, Multex707 turned his attentions back to the stream he was facing, groaning and shaking his head. "More boring that being in the hospital.." he muttered as he was resigned to the torture of pleasant naturesque sounds while he recovered.
