Chapter XXIV: Overseen -Ria

The next day Adrian woke early. The pictures she had seen in her mind were still clear and she'd had little sleep thinking about what they could mean. She considered asking Ragon what they could mean but decided against it. She didn't feel threatened by the visions or the creatures in them. There was no need to worry her master over nothing.

She moved out of the house and headed down to the river where she usually went when she had to think about something. They river ran deep and clean, showing off the smooth water worn stones at the bottom. She pulled off her shoes, letting her feet dangle in the water.

The forest sounded oddly quiet for this time of day along with being humid. Adrian let her fingers trail in the water, shaping the ripples into random pictures with her magic. She glanced up at the sky to see a number of gray clouds dotting the sky through the gaps in the trees. She then realized what it meant. There's a storm coming. A big one by the looks of things. She thought to herself.

Adian stood up, searching the wind current that blew through the trees. Something she caught in the wind didn't seem right. There was something unnatural and almost magical about the wind. she moved over to a tree and changed her hands and feet just enough, to griffin's claws, that she could scale the tree. Once in the upper most branches she pushed one last branch away. In the distance a cliff rose out of the trees at the edge of a mountain chain. These mountains were never crossed by the aurans. It was the limit of their land but Adrian saw something on the cliff, that she had never seen before.

Two creatures were on the cliff. It was to far away for Adrian to see any more details about them. Suddenly another creature appeared. A shout of rage was carried down by the wind, but the words were twisted beyond recognition. She could also feel magic of great concentration from the cliff. Suddenly one of the bodies was lanced with light and suddenly disappeared. One of the other creatures disappeared as well as a cry of rage echoed down the cliff wall. Someone died. Adrian thought simply. Someone of great importance.
