Chapter XXXV: Tech/Magic -Draco

"Alright, everyone down! These things are as annoying as they come." Draco pushed Alicia to the side as Adrian backed away. There were two hovering overhead. One fired at Adrian, and she easily deflected the shot back at the ADU, damaging it a bit. The second fired at the doctor, and hit dead on. She cried out a bit in surprise, but got back up on her feet and continued to run to safety. It surprised Adrian that she withstood the shot. "Hey! Pick on someone your own alloy you little punks!" He had his arm cannon charged, and fired the large shot at one of them. It hit and destroyed the target as the shot continued on. He rolled to dodge a blast from the second, and took the opportunity to charge his arm cannon again. He released another charged shot, but this one missed because of the unstable flight of the damaged unit. He jumped back to avoid another shot and charged again, but before he had a chance to retaliate he saw a flash as the flier was destroyed by Adrian, who slashed it in two. "Neat little knife you got there. How do you make it all shiny and powerful and stuff?"

"Magic." She replied as she put it away.

"Hmm, makes sense." He turned to the doctor, and they both shrugged. They wouldn’t bother to question things anymore. Then Alicia got up and dusted herself off.

"And how did you escape unhurt? I saw you get hit, and humans are supposed to be weak."

"Gee, sorry to disappoint you." She glared at her, and then pulled back the side of her jacket to show Adrian two small devices, each with a meter on them. One was lit up less than the other. "These are energy shields. They keep me from getting hurt, and teleport me to safety from a fatal blow. Kind of like an extra life. But once they teleport me they’re destroyed, so this means I only get do die twice...so to speak." She smiled. "Hmm, seems I’m down to 90 percent on this one."

"Then don’t get hit next time." Draco said with a grin.

"Oh shut up!"

"Fine. Hey, weren’t we supposed to find out what was going on? Like why we’re here talking to a mage even though we come a from a place where you’d be labeled as an idiot for believing in magic and then thrown in an asylum where you spend the rest of..." The doctor shut him up by putting a finger to his mouth. He grinned, and then took his helmet off as she began to talk, so he could dry it out. If he didn’t have the rest of his suit, it would be very hard to tell he wasn’t exactly human, with his brown eyes and black hair.

"You’ll have to excuse the idiot? So, can you explain where we are, how we got here, and more importantly how we can get back home?"

"As for where you are, the planet is called Zolott. As for your other two questions I don't know." Adrian said.

"Well, at least we know the name of the planet." Draco added. "That might come in handy in case of an emergency." He rolled his eyes.

Suddenly an older looking man ran through the bushes. He also held a sword ready. "Ria, what's going on?" He asked eyeing Draco and Alicia, ready to strike.

"Relax master. They're lost." Adrian said. "This is Draco and Alicia. And this is my master Ragon."

Ragon relaxed, putting away his sword. "And what are those?" He pointed towards the severed halves of the ADUs.

Alicia explained, and then went into a detailed story of what had happened in the last few hours. She noticed that the old man didn't seem surprised at all by what she was telling him.

"We've seen it all before. This is a strange planet. It's been around as long as any other world." He sighed. "I've seen pieces of other planets come and go for hundreds of years."

"Wait." Draco said. "You've seen...hundreds of years? Humans don't live that long...oh that’s right, nothing’s supposed to make sense here. How forgetful of me."

"Well we are not humans anyway. Humans are such weak creatures." Ragon said.

"Oh really? And what exactly are you?" Alicia asked, getting more and more interested, even after the apparent insult. "And how long have you been alive?"

"We are aurans. And it's been a bit more then seven centuries."

"Seven hundred years?" Alicia asked in shock with eyes wide open.

"Give or take. We don't keep that close of track." Ragon said. "Now would you like to get under some shelter for the night? You can decide what to do tomorrow."

"Sure, we could use a nice rest. Gives us a chance for the satellites to get back up. Then we could communicate at longer distances and teleport."

"Good. At least we won’t have to do any cross-country traveling the hard way."

"That’s a lot of magic. Humans aren’t supposed to be able to use any magic, like your shield and teleportation." Adrian pointed out as they began to walk toward the village. The doctor almost growled at that remark.

"Why do I feel so inferior right now?"

"Hey, you’re not that bad. I mean, you built me after all." Draco reassured her.

"WAAAAAAH!!!"
