Chapter XXXVIII: In Good Company -Havering

Far away from the mock world of Zolott, where mysteries were still yet to be unraveled, and many a year ahead, we turn back to Parallel Earth. But this time, it's not the time frame from which prosperity reigned. No, instead, we look at the dark futuristic year of 2000V AD. Though this was the age that gave birth to the heroic mechanical being of justice, Omega Maroack, it is also the time of the reign of the global corporation, Alpha Technologies. Though putting on a public friendly facade, just walking by the main head quarters would send chills of deathly evil radiations through any metallic spine. Though recent events triggered by Omega's return had finally shut the corporation down, for some reason, the main headquarters remained fully in tact, save the damage caused in the events Omega had needed to cause to accomplish the task of putting them out of buissness. However..all is not quiet in the abandoned corridors of the eighty five story building. In a massive technical assemply labratory on the top floor, behind a reinforced metallic, pass card entry only door, a machine stands, droning loudly, turbines roaring with power and throwing off jolts of electrisity in all directions. Only a lone figure stands, watching the massive mechanical masterpiece busy in it's toil. A look of determination marked on his face;scrutinizing eyes taking in everything observable and a bit more to boot. The fact that since Alpha Tech's shut down, a number of robotic/biotic specemines still remained in the global head quarters was no secret to this being. He was also quite aware of the hulking, sharp toothed menace poised and ready to leap for his neck with those evilly sharp clawed digits. The attack came with a roaring fury. The roar shook the very walls, and still the figure moved not a muscle. With a sudden rattle of unghastly chains, however, the roar was cut short. The beast fell to it's knees, prying at the tether to which the rod and blade before it's eyes floated. With a slight sideward's glance, the being looked out of the corner of it's eye at this freakish monster. He said nothing, no moved not a step, but meerely narrowed his colorless, blue trimmed eyes. With a sudden decisive movement, the sickles coil seemed to rattle a cackle of blood thirsty glee, lifting the behemoth off it's feet and into the air. Chains rattled as the creature felt it's breath being squeezed out. Then all was cu short with a decisive SNAP and a sound of internal shattering. The body fell limp to the ground, and the murder weapon simply released it's grasp, retracting like an obediant servant to where it's handle lie in the observer's hand. "Pity.." Sir Pseudo Havering stated simply as he turned his gaze back to the massive equipment.
--------------------------------------
Hours passed, and still Havering stood, unmoving, eyes fixed on the mechanical devices. Occasionally, his glance would turn to a lever, or a dial, and automatically it would flip or turn, albiet the fact that it had never been physically touched. As it neared the twelth hour of his observance, the Time Bender finally raised a hand to arms length, and turned to face the fallen mutant. "Rehvcithktal Dhurvihnyos Finale Sahnctumin, Revhinighn Reveerojhigin." Havering chanted in demonic tones. The extended palm of his hand began to grasp dull whisps of black and grey fog. With each word, the corpse at his boots steadly began to grow more ashen, greyer by the syllable until it was ashen white with hues of stony grey where minutes previously, life had still lingered. The whisps of fog, both black and grey, which swirled inches above Havering's palms began to suddenly draw inward and elongate, seeming to condense. With a few moments and a sudden bright flash of blindingly white light, a soft resonating sound, like glass being gently struck eminated through the room. The Twilighter grinned slightly, admiring his work. Indeed, the ashen grey crystal resting in his gloved hand was remarkable. "Perfection...every aspect mastery in the finest degree.." Havering said to himself as he studied each side of the crystal. "...the Necrosylte as I knew it would be."
As if on recognition of the word, the Necrosylte resonated dully. As if on perfect timing on the Time Bender's part, the vast electronics suddenly dulled upon completion of their task. The central unit of the room encompasing machine released a jet of steam from the immense heat generated in it's task as a large door on the side slid open with a low hiss. Havering anticipated what was to follow down to the instant. Leaping inhumanly high, the demon evaded a charging metallic punch aimed for his person. The process had always had this side effect on the creation, Pseudo noted. They were always beserk and extremely agressive upon completion. Moving faster than the mechanical, armorless skeleton of the robot, Havering had the creation in an unescapable hold, poising the Necrosylte crystal in his hand as he maneuvered it around to mid torso on the metallic chest. With a loud resonating chime, the crystal burned and welded itself on with the metal, resulting in a loud wail of extreme agony from the bearer of this suffering. With a sudden spasm, the metallic skeleton in Havering's grasp jolted, then went limp. "Only the second time, but you didn't put up quite as grand a fight as havoc did. He managed to *bruise* me. But, then again, you weren't built for the same purposes. Now, for the second point of buissness..." Havering let the metallic body slide to the floor as he made his way from the room, down a series of corridors and up the stairs. Moments later, he arrived at his destonation: the roof.
-------------------------------------------------
Noone could have guessed what happened, but the authorities were baffled on how the largest building in town could suddenly dissappear in the middle of a lightening storm. They suspected perhaps a chemical leak in the area, inducing halucinagenic effects, thus the cause for not being able to see anything but a vacant lot where the massive Alpha Tech Headquarters stood only the night previously. However, had they looked on a vast, baren wasteland of a mountain, on an island surrounded by turbulant black waters which crashed against it's rocky coast years and dimensions in the distance, they might have been more sucessfull indeed. And through all this, havering simply smiled, refilling his glass and savoring the stong armoas.
