Chapter XLIV: The Newcoming Newcomer -Josh

Damn English work...

It was 3:00 PM for Joshua. He slammed his locker shut, jamming all of his homework in a disorderly fashion, right down his backpack. It was hot, school was almost over, and Josh was almost ready for a long overdue break from this hellish forced work. He walked out the door, and caught up with his friend, Kyle to heckle him before he boarded the bus. Joshua, however, walked. He usually walked alone. The only people he would walk with were people he couldn't stand. All so uncreative, and secretly bitter.
As he walked home, he spotted something... weird on the sidewalk. It was a dark blue. Almost actually WAS the sidewalk. It was too embedded in the concrete to be something lying on it, but too far jutted out to be something in it. He kneeled down, taking his backpack off, and touched the strange plasmatic substance.

Curiousity is what killed the cat, so people say. But Joshua was sure curiousity never led one through a spiraling dimensional vortex to a void beyond the grasp of human thought.

"Where AM I?", Josh muttered, soaked to the bone. Wherever that... THING had led him... Well, it wasn't home. He was in a river, much like the one by his home. The same small islands, the same paths. It was almost identical. Except... This river was MUCH cleaner. Joshua closed his eyes and pondered the situation. After a few minutes of thought, he wasn't getting anywhere, but when he opened his eyes, he was shocked at what he had seen.

He was... at least a story up. Floating there. Just like that.
What the...?
He didn't seem to have any control of it. He was just floating there, helpless.
"Um... Can someone get me down?", he yelled, as if he knew this place already.
