Chapter XLVII: Havoc Breaks Loose –Multex707
Multex's mind usually retained the normal, cool, calm reasoning with a bit of attitude to it. Except when he knew RATCH was involved. Then, all cool, calm, smooth logicing tended to go right out the window as the fugitive and survivor mindsets barged on in, breaking down the door and generally causing all out chaos. His "Hey, I can handle ANYTHING. Yer talkin to the agent with attitude pal!" response to situations quickly shifted to "Oh *crap* this is going to hurt!" The agent glanced at the others, his gaze passing over the mortals and yoshis alike. He knew logically none of them would even feel the robotic monstrosity's approach, and most likely not even the Markior could. But Multex could. It had become a very honed sixth sense he had developed. After all; Havoc had hunted him down for a straight three years. One couldn't help getting a feel for his presence in those conditions. And right now, that sense was screaming for him to take to his heels and make bloody tracks OUT and AWAY for ANYWHERE except here. But there was that second factor that held him back. You see, though Ratch Havoc struck fear even in the Agent's heart, Multex *was* the best of the agency. He knew proirities, and right now, in an area full of "civillians", it was his duty to stand down his fear and take the threat head on.
"Get over there.." Multex instructed with utmost seriousness, pointing at the forest greenery to the left. The human and Yoshi assortment stared at him with puzzled looks. "But Tex...we can hel-" Lich began to state before being sharply cut off. "NO. This one's in MY ball park. Just listen to what I say and get over there. You have no clue what the heck is headed this way." The group finally nodded and moved aside, all but the Makior. The agent frowned at the protoss/Yoshi Guardian spirit and yerked his thumb at the others. "You too." "I think most certainly not." the spirit protested, frowning a bit. Multex felt his pulse heighten, that sense going haywire in his mind. "Look, normally I'd let you fight because I know you can, smokey, but this ISN'T going to be like any battles you've ever fought in. Yeah, your rival's going to be here, but if my guess is as certain as i feel it is, he's not even going to get to lift a finger for a good while." The Markior stared at the agent before him, giving a long and hard look straight in the eyes. "Just what makes you so sure of this?" "Simple...I know Ratch..and you don't. Now git over there!" Multex shouted the last part, wheeling to face the forest path he had traveled down, eyes deadset on the dirt road. He didn't know if Markior had moved or not, but the only thing the Agent had any care about at the moment was what was stepping from the evening's dark of the path, headed straight for him.
Seconds ticked on, and the Agent stood almost motionless in the center of the path by the river. As time wore on, a dull sound of metal impacting slightly deep on hard earth grew louder. From the shadows that were created by the overhanging trees came forth a bright, blood red glowing figure, followed a good pace behind by an immense, hulking, nasty as the come looking behemoth of a robot. Though the red, dark templar who Multex knew as lord Ulrezaj was quite intimidating in aspects, there was more fear to be envoked by simply glancing into the two, hard staring eyes of the seven foot, gold plated, sneering face of Ratch Havoc.
Ulrezaj bellowed, sending off his intimidating presence as he faced the Markior. "Somehow, you live, But No matter, for i shall easily Destory you once again!!" the dart protoss raged and was about to prepare an assult when through him stepped Havoc. The robots sneer fell upon the Agent, and was returned by a hateful glare, which seemed to humor him more. "Just stay back and enjoy the show, pal." The Dark Templar looked as if he could hardly believe his hearing. "..WHAT?!!" he bellowed, his red aura burning brightly. Multex and ratch both shared the same split second of total surprise before Ratch's expression turned to one the agent had only seen him use in situations where a show of just WHO was boss was needed. Ratch's eyes seemed to burn through the vaporous red energies that made up Ulrezaj's exterior and strike him dead in the eyes. "Don't...question...me." Ratch said, slowly and deliberately, his eyes and jaw forming the grin only a *very* twisted soul could muster; one of a sheer self confidence in one's own power to the point that those looking on soon felt unwary of their own. It was a sneer of sheer dominance in any situation over any who stood present there. "My boss may want you employed, but as my name says, I am the commander here." Havoc continued on in that chilling voice, "And as long as HE" Havoc emphasized, pointing a metallic claw at Multex, "is present, I am TOTALY in command. Just because you're not totaly solid doesn't mean I couldn't atomize you on the spot if I wanted, but my boss wants you so you shall be a good, obediant worker and OBEY." Normally, someone speaking in a similar tone to Ulrezaj would have sent him burning with fury at such demoting statements, but this wasn't someone. This was Ratch Havoc. A robot who had been KILLED; destructed about three times, to Multex's recollection anyway, and had returned unscathed as if he had never even been wounded only a few weeks after each of the incidents. Except the last one, but then again, against all logic of what should have been the final death of the sadistic bounty hunter who had Plagued his life for three years straight, multex's eyes beheld the sturdy form of his arch rival yet again. "It's because of Pseudo.." He mentally growled. "He knows of Ratch's abilities, and our rivalry. That's why the d*** bucket of rust is still alive!"
Returning to the present from his thoughts, Multex noted that the dark templar had appeard to have backed off from Ratch a bit, looking slightly less ready to destroy the Light protoss. Havoc snickered at yet another victory of intimidation on his part and turned once again to face the agent. "Back from the grave again, eh, Freak?" Multex growled and poised his hand over his right coat pocket. "Don't get to comfy, because yer goin right back, Tin jaw." The robots sneer deepened, and he assumed a reading stance. "Three times was your charm, Freak. Now It's time for your luck to run out, the dirge to play, and the mourners to cry as I bury you right here right NOW!! Prepare for the void, Agent, because You AIN'T Gettin lucky this time!!"
As usual, Multex landed the first few shots, having drawn the Quicksilver from his pocket and fired like a madman at various areas on his metallic foe. And, as in all their struggles, only one or two shots of the many actually breaking Ratch's defenses and striking an opening. Havoc bellowed with an enraged warcry and lunged forward. Now, though large objects tend to accelerate from zero Mph quite slowly, once they get moving, they have enough force and speed with their weight to topple most any smaller object in their path. And Ratch Havoc was sheerely MASSIVE. As he closed the gap, Ratch swung his immense right clawed hand out at the Agent, only a fraction of a second too slow as Multex nimbly dodged, and instead the blow felled a towering Dogwood in his place. As the tree toppled and fell, Havoc merely growled and took the falling timber on his shoulder plates and back, not appearing at all burdened, and with a yell the robot had thrown the once standing tree at his target. Multex was fast, but he wasn't *that* fast. The agent went soaring as the trunk of the tall tree smashed into his chest and legs painfully, and as he landed the massive timber nearly crushed him as it rolled over top. "It's moments like this I thank god I don't have normal bones!" He cursed into the depths of his mind over the pain, and forced himself to flip to his feet, landing in a crouch. A quick glance of the area showed no immediate sign of his attacker, but instinct soon shot up a very vivid image in his mind. "S***!" he cursed and immediately rapelled himself from the ground, distancing himself from it as far back as he could. The whole forest shook as Havoc's full weight drove his boots deep into the soft soil, and sending most of the observers or those in the near forest reigion toppling as the aftershocks. Luckily, Multex had timing on his side and came into contact with the ground as soon as the last shockwave was dissapating. "That would have crushed some limbs.." he noted, as deftly he threw out his arm and from within his Agent Coat sleeve a small disc-like object shot into his hand. It was about the side of a small frisbie, and about a little near two inches thick. A gold M was embressed in dead center of the disc, and it had numerous cog like protrusions on it's sides. With a strong throw and snap of his wrist, Multex sent the disc spinning through the air straight for Havoc. The robot had just enough time to curse under his breath before the dics hit him squarely in the side. The resulting explosion as the mine detonated was enough to be called a small fireworks show, or a very medium sized inferno. As the rush of air slowed a bit, Multex noticed the others looking intently at the blast. "Feh..they actually think that might have finished him? If anything I've just MAJORLY Pissed him off!! And perhaps blown a plate loose if I'm lucky.." Unfortunately, the agent was quite accurate. The billowing flames and the very heat of the air suddenly wavered and started a sprial pattern inward. As all watched, the very remenants of the inferno were caught up in this vortex and swept inward into a fair sized, glowing crystal which adorned the mid chest and dead center of Ratch's upper torso armor. With a cold glare, Havoc glances at his side, studying a burnt and nicely dent riddled section of his plating. "Finally scratched me with one of yer toys, eh? Well, allow me to show you how it's done!" Acting quickly, Ratch had both arms extended and each hand's three claws spread open, recealing a brightly glowing blue sphere in each palm. "Crud! He's been charging them!! Gotta act qui-!" In mid thought, the agent was caught by the massive dual blue blasts fired from Ratch's twin palm cannons. The beams carried Multex off his feet and lifted him slightly above the treetops, Havoc sneering the whole time. "I believe, as you always said, "Adios, Farewell, and Adieu; until we meet again", Freak." With a final laugh, havoc's eyes flashed their bright green glow and the beams pulsed, suddenly intensifying. With the pulse increase, the agent was sent flying into the sky, and was seen arching downward in his fall near what of the horizon was not blocked by the timbers.
Blowing the steam from his palms, the robot smirked as he watched the horizon, then turned to the Dark Templar. "Stop gawking and get a move on! The boss doesn't like to be kept waiting." With those words, the sound of activating turbines dully reverberated and the massive robot suddenly shot skyward, the thrusters on the back of his boots flaring with blue fire. He was gone from sight in mere moments, leaving only the blackened patch of earth as proof of him ever having been in the clearing.
