Chapter XLIX: Sky Sights ~Ria
"AHHHH what is that?!" Gelid cried and dove for a nearby tree.
The other three stopped their walk and Draco changed his arm into a blaster to defend against the enemy. Adrian seemed perfectly calm however as she turned to face the Ice Dog. She knew there wasn't any creature, save a few bugs, anywhere near enough to attack.
"What do you see?" She asked.
Draco seemed to relax a bit, seeing she wasn't worried at all.
Gelid looked up at the sky. "There's water falling out of the sky. Why is there water coming from the sky?"
Adrian then realized that it had begun to drizzle slightly.
"It's rain." Alicia said.
"Rain?" Gelid asked. "What's that?"
Suddenly Adrian laughed. An act that seemed to scare the two humans, who didn't expect any such noise out of her.
"Gelid comes from a frozen planet right? He's never seen rain before, only snow." Adrian said. "Gelid, rain is just snow when it's not cold enough to freeze."
"Oh." Gelid said. "Sheesh, now I feel like an idiot."
"Don't worry." Adrian said. "I'm sure we're all going to see things we've never seen before this is over." She patted his back.
Draco and Alicia seemed shocked into silence. Adrian glanced over at them. "It's just humans I don't like." She said.
Draco rolled his eyes. "Well that's just great."
"Actually I don't think that's very good." Gelid said. "What do you have against humans Adrian?"
"Well not only are they non magical, but they seem to take advantage of everything, and take everything for themselves." Adrian said. "As a rule, they're just not the most pleasant species you'll meet."
"I am taking offence from this." Alicia said almost angrily.
"Fine then. Before you were pulled onto Zolott, when was the last time you were in a forest? When was the last time you saw a clear blue sky and breathed fresh air?"
"Well that's not..." Draco faltered, looking at his creator.
Adrian shook her head and shrugged. "Humans are just more viruses then they are real creatures. You kill your own for no reason, you're selfish and uncaring, and destroy what you touch."
"Not all humans are like that?" Alicia countered. "Some of us actually care. We try and save the environment. We don't kill."
"But it's still an exception rather then a rule isn't it?" Adrian crossed her arms.
"Sadly yes." Alicia said. "But you're not helping anything having an attitude like that."
"She's right." Gelid piped up. "You can't treat these two like they're the whole human race."
Adrian nodded. "Fair enough. Though you never had to meet the humans who were on Zolott."
Alicia frowned. "What do you mean?"
Adrian turned away without an answer. "I'm going to go up and have a look around. See if there's anything nearby." Without hesitation she began her change into beast form. A few seconds later a griffin broke through the tops of the trees. Adrian felt her own pleasure mix with the griffin's as they soared upwards on the wind's back. She even forgot what she was doing up there for a while as she enjoyed the wind and the flight.
Suddenly a fireball flashed past in front of her. She pulled back and looked down to see Draco. She read his lips to say. "See anything?"
Adrian lifted her eyes and searched the forest. To the west she could see more mountains, definatly not what they wanted. Up ahead she could see what looked like a town nestled in the trees by the river. She knew at once that it wasn't of either auran or human architecture. With one last glance around she headed back to the ground.
