Chapter LXXI: Vector Walks -Vector
Vector sighed. He had been at the Nexus for at least 3 days. He was usually never anywhere longer than 24 hours. He searched out the Markior. "Is there a desert or ice field anywhere near?" Vector said. Markior shook his head, and Vector’s hopes for a good time were dashed. He walked outside, and looked all around the Nexus. He was sure there was some sort of populated city SOMEWHERE on the planet. He knew from experience, that no matter how inhospitable the planet is, there’s people. He wondered where Lich disappeared to. He looked at his chronometer, and frowned. "Damn piece of junk." He cursed. Kyle walked up behind Vector, and in surprise, grabbed Kyle, and shoved the muzzle of his blaster into his chest. Kyle’s eyes widened, and he gasped. Vector noticed it was Kyle, and holstered the weapon. "Sorry, Kyle. I’ve been edgy lately." "Evidently." Kyle said. Vector looked through a closet, and found a pack. "Going somewhere?" Kyle inquired. "Yeah." Vector said. "I can’t stand to stay in one place for long. I’ve always been on the move." Kyle looked at vector’s blaster, and opened his mouth, but Vector cut him off. "Yes Kyle, I’m from the future." Kyle looked at him. "What happens to me in your time?" Kyle asked. "You’re dead." Vector said. Kyle looked at him in shock. "Don’t worry." Vector said. "You probably will live for a long time. I just doubt you can live for 1,078 years." Kyle looked at him in disbelief. "Yes." Vector said. "I am from the 29th century. Trust me. You’ll never want to see it." "Yes I do." Kyle said. "I bet everything’s perfect." Vector looked at Kyle for a moment. "HA!" Vector said. "Look, I’m going to leave now. Hopefully, I’ll find Lich, and even more hopefully, some trouble. Vector started out the door of the Nexus, when he heard Markior call his name. "Where are you going?" Vector turned, and looked at Markior. "I’m going to look for Lich." Vector said. Markior looked at him. "Well, He has been gone for 3 days, and he just ran off. That’s more like my behavior. Not Lich’s." Markior looked at him sternly. "Your own thoughts have betrayed you, Vector. You’ve been lying, though I sense that you are worried for Lich." Markior said. Vector looked down at his feet. "I might as well just say I approve of you going, because I’ll turn my back on you, and you’ll be out of sight." Markior said as he sighed. "Just try to return with Lich." Markior added. Vector was already gone.
Vector ran through the trees, and came out onto an open field. He looked, and noticed he was on a stretch of plains. He could smell ocean water, and knew the ocean had to be within 30 kilometers. He walked for the rest of the day, and the grass slowly turned to sand. There wasn’t a cloud in the sky. He stopped walking as the moon started peeking over the horizon. He checked his compass. He was heading south, and from what the little computerized instrument told him, he was about 2 kilometers South of the equator. He lay down, and fell asleep, breathing in the cool night air.
