Chapter LXXXIV: New Alliance? -Ria
Adrian and Gelid watched as the female human said something about a hut. This led the robot with the red eye to climb up the tree. The human then lay back against a tree and seemed to be watching the sky.
Adrian glanced at Gelid trying to decide what to do. That robot was the first real clue to finding out what could be happening on Zolott. Before she could come to a decision however, there was a low growling from behind her. She turned around, drawing her sword as she did so. She had been so tied up in her thoughts she hadn't even realized something had come up behind her. A large wolf was standing in the shadows. Its teeth were bared.
Gelid growled as well, his muscles were taunt and ready to move at a second's notice.
Adrian narrowed her eyes.
"Fang?" The human came up behind her and Gelid. "Who are you?"
Adrian started to pull magic into Deathbringer. "I actually followed that robot you're with. I wanted to ask him a few questions."
"Join the club." The human muttered mostly under her breath. "Why exactly do you want to talk to him?"
The wolf had calmed down as had Gelid. Adrian felt it safe enough that she relaxed her sword as she answered. "I had a vision, with him in it. I'm pretty sure he could explain what's happening on Zolott, or at least give some sort of an explanation."
"Zolott? What's that?"
"Zolott is where you are." Adrian said.
"So that's where we ended up." She said thoughtfully.
"So you're an offworlder too? We seem to be getting a good number more then usual recently." Adrian said. "My name is Adrian and this is Gelid."
"I'm Artemis and this is Fang." She replied. "So you're a native to this place?"
"No one here really is native to Zolott. It's not the way the planet works. But my tribe has been on Zolott for a long time." Adrian replied.
Artemis nodded though Adrian was sure she didn't completely understand. For most it wasn't exactly a normal concept.
"Well it's late and I was planning on getting some sleep before tomorrow." Artemis said.
"And where will we be headed tomorrow?" Adrian asked.
"I'm not sure." Artemis replied. She said something to Fang that Adrian couldn't understand and the two made their way back towards the tree that had the hut.
"That Fang guy's quite interesting." Gelid said. "Told me all about how their little piece of forest got pulled out of it's normal spot and landed here. Artemis came with it to protect the animals and such."
"That's unusual for a human." Adrian replied. She replaced her sword in its sheath on her hip and glanced towards the tree where Artemis had gone.
"I really don't think you give them enough credit." Gelid said with a yawn. "They're not that bad of a species.
Adrian didn't reply. She moved to the side of a tree facing Artemis' tree and sat down. Gelid lay down next to her and in a few minutes he was sleeping like a baby. Adrian lay awake for a while, not thinking about anything in particular. The stars seemed brighter in this section of Zolott, even if they were foreign. Deep inside Adrian had a strong feeling that she was where she was supposed to be. She leaned back and closed her eyes.
