Chapter LXXXVIII: Attack of a Madman -Vector

Vector was tired. Extremely tired. At the end of the day, he went to the small room in the basement, and lay down. He shut his eyes, and slipped into sleep, and had the same recurring nightmare.
Vector looked at the small screen in front of him, and frowned.
"Damage report… Both guns destroyed. Ejector system is destroyed. Shields are at .01 percent." His computer said. Vector looked out of the canopy at the biggest ship he had ever seen. He ran a scan on it, and located the fuel tanks. His hands started shaking as he grabbed the throttle, and pushed it to full power. As he pushed forward, several laser bolts bounced from his shields, making dull yellow flashes. He tuned his ship to be facing the broad side of the ship, and he engaged his afterburners. The ship started getting closer, and then he hit.

Vector awoke with a yelp. He was dripping with cold sweat. He sat up from his bed, which he had chosen as a bare spot on the floor, and stared at his feet for a moment. Lich apparently had heard him, as he approached him. "What’s wrong Vec?" Lich asked. Vector looked at Lich, still shaking. "I have this nightmare, Lich. The same one for weeks." Vector said. Lich looked at him. "Tell me." He said. "Okay." Vector said, his shaking starting to ebb. "There’s this big starship. Bigger than anything I’ve seen before. My shields are null, my guns gone and all my missiles fired. My hands are shaking, shaking as I pull the throttle to ram her on the side. Then, I wake up." Lich was silent for a moment, and started to speak, but Vector cut him off. "The last time I had this nightmare though… was in 3076…" Vector’s eyes started to fill with rage. Lich looked at him. Vector looked like he could explode. And explode he did. Vector jumped to his feet, and let out an unearthly howl of rage. He walked to the door of the small room, and with almost unholy strength, kicked it open. At this moment, Lich was truly scared. He had never seen Vector act like this, much less even get mad. At this time, Tob was awakened. "What’s that noise?" Tob asked. Lich looked at him. "I think Vector’s gone mad."

Vector stomped through the halls of Theutes’ house and found him in a room that was probably the study. Theutes looked at Vector. "Why are you here?" He said with a start. Vector looked at him with a look of utter contempt in his eyes. "I might as well tell you. I want to kill you." Vector said in English. Theutes looked at him with a look of puzzlement, evidently not understanding Terran Basic. Vector started running. Before Theutes could even blink, Vector had already punched him and sent him sprawling into the wall. Vector picked him up. Theutes put a hand to his now bleeding lip. "You are the lowest form of scum in this galaxy." Vector said in Togorian, so Theutes could understand. Vector bent his Theutes’ arm backwards and punched the shoulder. At this time, Lich and Tob heard Theutes scream, and rushed to see what was happening. Lich turned a corner, and was nearly hit by Theutes, Vector walking down the hall after him. Lich looked down, and noticed his captor pleading for him to save him from this madman. Lich smiled. "I know what’s wrong with Vector." Lich said. "And I can’t do a thing to stop him." Theutes looked up at Vector, and started begging for mercy. "Please! Have mercy! Spare my life!" Theutes cried. Vector showed no signs of pity, his face set in a grotesque snarl. He picked Theutes up again, and looked into his face. "Get us out of this city, or I shall kill you. And believe me, I can make it very painful and slow." Theutes said nothing. Vector put his thumb on his throat and squeezed. Theutes tried to breathe, but couldn’t. "Do it, or I’ll crush your trachea." Vector said. Theutes nodded, and led them outside, and through the city to the gates. "Open them." Vector said. Theutes complied, and told a sentry that he was going for a journey. The gates opened, and Vector threw Theutes down. "Own another slave again, and I’ll kill you." Vector snapped. At this, Vector started walking, as Lich and Tob just stared at him.
