Chapter CVII: A New Friendship Made ~Kyle

Kyle regained consciousness after passing out from the immense ammount of pain. A lot had happened, he guessed, to say the least. He looked over to his right and saw what appeared to be an enormous sea-worm lying on the grass. Its body was split in half down the middle, starting at the front of its head. The entire area stank of a rotting smell, from the corpse, he guessed. A huge divot in the land was also there, probably caused by the eel-like creature. He looked over to the pond and saw the strange fish-girl creature he had rescued swimming around in it. He sat up weakly, looking down at his chest. The claw marks were still there, but at least the bleeding had stopped. He crawled over to the edge of the pond, hoping not to let the creature sense him, and slowly dipped his head underwater to rinse off his face and to get a drink.

The creature suddenly turned around and saw him. Oh crud, Kyle thought, thinking he'd be attacked again. But this time, the creature merely swam up to him, cautiously, and began looking him over, examining him. Is this the first time she's seen a human? Kyle thought. As she was examing him, he looked her over. He could see that she was "made-up" of different kinds of sea-life. From her arms and legs, silk-like fins floated in the water, waving gently, flashing the colors of the rainbow when the sunlight hit them. From the edge of her cheekbones down her neck were gills, and her silvery, soft hair made gentle waves in the water, shining brightly, almost creating a halo around her beautiful face. He could easily say that she was the most beautiful thing he had ever seen.

He gasped slightly as she lay her hand on his chest, afraid she was going to claw him again. This time, she had no claws, and instead, a clear liquid secreted from her finger tips, flowing over the wounds. There..., she said gently. This will help the wound to heal faster. He gentle look turned to that of shame. I'm sorry... I didn't mean to hurt you... I was only afraid... but I can already tell you're not like... him... At the word "him," her voice turned to one of complete and utter disgust. She narrowed her eyes and glared angrily down into the water. He looked into her eyes and could almost read her life story in them, how she was created in a lab and raised inhumanely by her creator. He could tell that this was her first time anywhere other than her tank, that he was the first form of contact she had had with anyone other than her creator.

He smiled gently and began to understand. It's alright... I understand... he said warmly. Oh, by the way, my name's Kyle. With this he extended his right hand. What's yours? Obviously confused with the foreign sign of greeting, she also extended her right hand, but not to shake his. I have no real name... just the name my creator called me by... Koi. Kyle grinned at her try at his greeting, and then showed her a hand shake by enveloping her small, cold hand in his warm hand. She gasped suddenly, not used to the warm feeling ebbing into her hand from his. He let go and stood to his feet, feeling much better. He looked down at his chest and noticed the wounds had already decreased about halfway in size. I'm going back to the village I'm staying at... you're welcome to come if you want, Koi, he said to her, waiting for her reply...
