Chapter CXIII: Alone Again ~Koi

Koi stared down at her hand perplexed by the warmth Kyle’s hand left lingering in her own she grasped it protectively as it dwindled only to find out with desolate regret that the chill from her hands twin made the feeling fade quicker. With a heavy sigh she let the feeling pass only staring feebly at her nimble digited hand as though it still remained of some interest to her only to find that that was quickly ebbing to the human that stood before her. Letting up pale hues slowly completely aghast when they met his own and she realized after a good, solid minute of blinking he’d been talking to her for a while and she hadn’t heard a word he’d said. Kyle stared down at Koi expectantly, "Well… what do you think?"

A small frown tainted his lips as he watched her closely noticing that she was trying hard not to fidget uncomfortably as though she didn’t want to go but didn’t want to hurt his feelings telling him this. He took the hint quickly enough and shrugged his shoulders softly, deciding it best to get out of there before the rank of the carcass, monstrous sea creature made him pass out. Turning he walked towards the small village where he was staying ignoring some sense within him that made him want to stay with her just in case something came along that she couldn’t handle. Shaking his head at the thought having a feeling she’d misinterpret his meaning and think that he was suggesting she was weak, feeble minded and helpless which he was well aware she was none I those things.

Misunderstanding, hurt orbs followed him as he walked further and further away in silence she clicked frantically reaching for him clawing at the earth to get to him. Her world darkening with his disappearance from it, Is he mad? Oh why couldn’t I have paid more attention to what he was saying! she wailed inwardly sliding back into the water bubbles forming at the surface of the water floating from her frigid indigo lips. It didn’t take long before something within her burned some how though she had no connection with him she felt as though he was dragging her at his side by her gills, part of her wishing he was. Her smooth, snowy white skin wilting to an unattractive shade of gray dulling the erratic intricate designs of all colors though the colors ranging mostly of pale pastel colors. Now, it was easy to tell that the bright, pigments acted much on the different variations of her emotions.

Flicking those train-like caudal fins she swam further out watching him untill he was but a spec on the horizon. Bridging her back to expose her vulnerable underside to the crisp air as it skimmed the surface of the lucid pond, giving her fins one last, quick flip she was propelled down towards the crevice in which her foe had wedged his way from. Warding from the jagged edges which would have easily made clean slices in her soft skin muttering to herself softly, if he came in this way then I must be able to get out this way too…
