Chapter CXVI: Rubber Ducky, You're The One ~Optional
I was taking a break one day from, okay well I don't do much of anything anyway, but it makes me fell better to think of it as a break. I was popping out randomly, anywhere I decided to pop out. It is quite a fun past time, and some of my favorite worlds are found this way. When I came across a rather strange scene. Two odd looking metal creature seemed to be attacking a weird assortment of creatures on the ground. Now I love a good fight as much as the next being, so I hung around to watch. One rather round character was rather rudely separated from the main party, and seemed to be taking quite a beating. The fight seemed pretty much to be over, when the metal creature just up and left, leaving the round creature lying, somewhat unconsciously, in the bottom of a river.
Now most of the time, however entertaining such events are, I simply leave when whatever action which took place, was done taking place. But I was somehow intrigued at the rather odd shape of the creature's body, and also how he seemed to remain living while being covered by, a somewhat, large amount of water. It was enough of an interest to at least stay in the area. To pass the time while the "egg" lay on the bottom of the river. I promptly turned into a rubber ducky (yes like the ones you used to play with when you were a child...or perhaps still do) and proceeded to ride the rapids of the river in the yellow, rubbery form. I did that for a good few hours, before the figure under the water moved.
He did end up seeming to be quite comfortable without air. It did seem impossible for him to get out of the river, since it was quite deep, and he started trudging slowly forward. I returned to the rubber duck form, and once again began to float down the river, just over the round thing's head. (Yes I can float upriver because I say I can)
Anyway, the robot guy didn't seem to be very happy at the bottom of the river, because when he reached a waterfall, he promptly got very angry, turned red, and jumped/flew up the waterfall. Now even me as a rubber ducky can float up a waterfall. It's to tiring and I was eager to see where this metal fella was going, and whether or not he was going to rust, so I changed back to my ghost form and floated up after him.
At the top of the waterfall there was this cool looking temple thing, and the round robot I was following, started talking to another robot type guy. I was starting to wonder whether almost everyone in this strange world was somewhat made of metal, when I heard the name Havering mentioned. Now I’ve done a lot of things, but for some reason that name seemed familiar. I shrugged it off quickly and was debating whether to turn into a kick me sign and attach myself to the robot's back, when he moved forward into the building.
Inside there was a sort of comic strip on the walls, and it caught my attention enough that I lost the robot I was following. The comic strip was something about some lizards, but most of it didn't seem to be funny. I drew a moustache on a few of the creatures, when I heard the sounds of a battle.
I smiled eagerly at that and flew forward quickly to a room where, believe it or not, there was a battle going on. It was quite interesting to watch, when I realized I recognized the guy the round robot was fighting. Pseudo Havering. I had met him once, well seen him anyway. He had no idea I was there. I found him to be a very interesting character. Bent on ruling the world, but he didn't seem to be as crazy as most. I was actually surprised to see the little robot, who Pseudo had called an Agent, actually holding his own.
I floated above them, trying to think of what he could possibly be an Agent of, when there was a cracking noise and I heard someone hit the floor. I looked down and Pseudo was sprawled out on the floor.
I decided then that whatever type of agent this robot was, he was doing a good job of being it. Pseudo wasn't down for the count of course, it would take a little more then that, but it was quite impressive nonetheless. It of course pissed of Pseudo majorly. He slammed the Agent a few more times before he just decided to leave. He changed the room back to looking like there had never been a battle, but the Pseudo had always been a neat one. The Agent, however, was not looking in that good of shape.
Suddenly the robot from outside came inside and promptly moved the Agent towards the door. Outside there was a good number of the lizards from the pictures on the wall, looking anything but happy.
The robot began to fly, taking the round robot with him. I flew after them. The whole situation had caught my attention enough that I wanted to follow and see what was going to happen next. After I had followed for a few minutes I flew ahead of them and became visible.
"Hello."
Now one thing I never get over is how people are always so shocked when a ghost appears out of nowhere. They all seem to think that we do it just to be frightening, but it’s actually just because the only way to become visible is to, well, pop up out of no where. This fellow was no exception as he very nearly fell out of the sky.
"I must say Sir Agent. You did a very nice job with Pseudo."
"You’re not one of Necronimus’ lackeys are you?" The agent asked, sounding a little weak, probably from his battle.
"Oh is he here?" I asked eagerly. I knew Necronimus from, well all the talking with the dead he did, you really couldn’t be dead and not know him."
"Who are you and what do you want?"
"Oh I’m just here for the fun, and you can call me Optional."
