Chapter CXXII: A Bit of Romance ~Kyle
Kyle raised his head from his hands. He looked around at the now enormous base. It almost doubled in size daily. He couldn't stop thinking about Koi, for some reason. Something about her stayed with him, even in her absence. He couldn't get his mind off that moment, with her hand in his, their eyes locked. He got to his feet, determined to find her. He closed his mind, trying to locate her. He saw her figure in his mind, swimming through a narrow tunnel underwater. He began to glow a bright white color, as his molecular structure was breaking down. Suddenly, he burst into millions of particles of light, and traveled to her.
He appeared behind her in the small tunnel, and tugged on her ankle. She turned around in suprise, but seeing him, she smiled. He smiled as well, and began swimming behind her, to wherever they were going. All that mattered to him was that he found her. He saw her lithe figure moving through the water with such grace and mobility, her translucent dorsal fins floating through the water, shedding the colors of the rainbow onto everything around them. Her silvery hair moving in waves. He reached out to touch it, and noticed its silky texture.
Then reality hit him: he wasn't a fish, and he didn't have gills, and he had just run out of air. He reached out to grab her ankle, a look of panic on his face. She turned around and realized what was going on. She grabbed his arm and began pulling him through the water with amazing speed. they saw a circle of light, marking the end of the tunnel. He clenched his teeth, the burning in his lungs too much for him. He knew what he had to do. He pushed himself up to her, and wrapped his arms around her. She looked confused, like she didn't know what he was doing. He smiled and pressed his lips to hers and kissed her. She was bewildered by this strange act, but felt a strange, warm sensation in her from it. She closed her eyes and kissed back, and, for a moment, the coldness, the darkness, and the lack of oxygen disappeared. All that mattered to him was the kiss. He passed out into her arms...
