Chapter CXXIII: Forever and a Day ~Koi

Her gills pulled on the water sifting it quickly through her gills as she dragged Kyle to the surface her muscles screaming at her to stop as she ran out of energy five minutes ago. Still she trekked on never to phanthom that the distance to the surface could be so far, the warmth of his lips lingering on hers, just the thought brought a crease of crimson drawn over the bridge of her nose shyly. Finally reaching the surface she groaned under her breath muttering to herself as she shook her head pulling Kyle up onto dry land. Dirt caked on her sleek, moist form as she sat beside him, yea he was cute, but certainly not the brightest creature on the face of whatever planet they were on, then again that was a human for you.

Moving around him to his side chirping and clicking in her native tongue just absolute nonsense thoughts to herself as she tried to figure out how to wake him up. Sighing heavily deep in concentration she looked down at him leaning over his form to press a gentle kiss to his lips breathing lightly against his mouth. A little encouragement to breathe was all he needed as he bolted up right coughing up the water in his lungs while Koi timidly dived back into the water at first sign of him twitch. Soft sea green hues watching hi cautiously from the edge of the tunnel where water met land, her long, ears twitched a fragment of an inch before drooping some. Kyle turned looking around for Koi noting the shy creature hiding in the dark waters treacherous depths.

Koi sighed up at him pathetically with a few light-hearted chirps, wanting to be where he was but her gills gurgled softly half in the water half out reminding her she was a sea dwelling creature. Resting his chin on one knee Kyle watched her, she blushed not exactly sure how to respond to the way he looked at her some where between doting and curious. Her chin laxed upon the land that separated them, her hand camping down upon a tiny aquatic frog that was about to crawl over her, growling out of pure jealousy of it’s ability to be within and out of the water as it pleased. She wondered why any creature would want to stay in water when you could have free access to the land and everything on it. Laying her head in her arms another sigh escaping her before she could stop it, Why would you want to stay an aquatic creature when there’s someone like him waiting for you on land? A hopeless grin curled her gentle features as she spoke a soft, musical tone, "Feel any better?"

Kyle blinked for a moment shaken from his daze her voice clouding his thoughts smiling warmly at her with the slightest nod though giving her a curious look, "I thought you couldn’t talk?" Koi smirked playfully showing off those dainty, lil, pearly white dragonic fangs, "I don’t talk to strangers." He raised a brow at her looking a bit more confused, "Wouldn’t telekinesis be a type of conversing?" Koi crinkled her nose and sighed, "Was my mouth moving? No. Therefore I wasn’t talkin, jus trust me on this one okay." Laughing he nodded in agreement, "Alright, whatever you say." His eyes met their surroundings in a blank stare no acknowledgment to anything that might have looked familiar to him. Her small shoulders shook in silent laughter at the dumb-founded look on his handsome face, stopping instantly when his eyes fell on her again, "So where do you plan on going anyway?" She shrugged her small shoulders with a sigh, "Wherever the water took me…" He looked up, around and then back at Koi with a sympathetic smile, "Not that impressive is it?" Koi shook her head stiffling a small yawn, "Sorry, but there was no chance of keeping you alive if I turned around and went back the way we came… that’s over 50 miles of tunnel…"

Kyle gave a slight understanding nod, "So where are we going now?" Koi arched a slim brow up at him as he stood looking down at her, "Well, you, are going back home or wherever you came from, I, am water bound, I have to stay here." She watched a frown tug at his features not liking her plan at all, "I didn’t come all the way here and nearly drown just to walk away from you again." Staring at him blankly she gave a small shrug frowning back at him just as unhappy with her own plan, "but you can’t breathe underwater… and I can’t breathe on land… you have to go!" Kyle kneeled infront of her stroking her cheek with curled index finger before slipping it under her chin picking her head up leaning over to kiss her lightly before drawing back, "Fine, I’ll go, but I’m not at all liking this one bit."

Standing he turned making a double take of the winding paths that lead away from the small body of water where Koi sort of drifted her pale hues watching every step he took away from her, only wishing to follow him. Kyle glanced back at her once only to wave before heading further down the twisting tunnel into the sunlight his head hung low between rounded shoulders as he walked back towards base.

Watching hues flicked like the last dying embers of a candle put out by the breeze reaching out for him. Claws unsheathed she crawled out of the water treading it behind her curling around her form to become powder blue fabric softer than silk and better quality that anything machine or hand made. Iridesent fins faded along with the rest of any other signs that were tell-tale signs of the creature she really was, Celtic designs fading, smooth, pearly skin brightening to a lively sun-kissed shade of tan. Standing she slid her fingers over the ruffles out of the material of her dress which had lapsed in billowing folds over her sinew form. A hood on the back of it wrapping around her small shoulders complimenting the dainty feminine curves of her body when she finally smoothed it out enough. Looking herself over she smiled to herself proudly, her hair only slightly past her shoulders, shorter bangs framing her delicate, cherubic features.

Taking a deep breath she picked her head up staring at the outside world or more likely Kyle’s backside as he walked away unable to note his head bowed low. Okay.. you can do this Koi, jus don’t mess up to bad… giggling quietly to herself she dashed after Kyle long, slender legs which were once used for getting her agile form around the strong water currents carried her quickly across the land as though she were destined to own it since the day she was "born". After catching up with him she grabbed his arm waiting for him to turn around before wrapping her arms around his neck, standing on tip-toe to kiss him gently knowing it was something she’d been wanting to do since the moment she met him…
