Chapter CXXIV: What Are Umbrellas For? ~Ria

Adrian looked at the strange man leaning on the umbrella, and had a sudden urge to know it out from under him. But she decided that it would probably cause him to talk even more, so she decided not to.
"Do you have any idea which way this Havering guy should be?" Adrian asked.
Kyanosa shook his head. "Wait." He checked his book quickly, then shook his head again.
"Why were you sent here if you don't even know where to go?" Gelid asked.
"Got me. I figure if this guys's all the "evil being" he's supposed to be, he'll terrorize some village and I'll hear about it. I wonder what it'll be like to be threatened by a British person. Fear me jolly chap, would you like a spot of tea?"
Adrian and Gelid both turned in one motion and headed away.
"You seem to know there's something wrong on this planet. Did you get brought here too?" Kyanosa asked following them, like he'd been invited to come.
"No. I was born here." Adrian replied.
"Well, what's your name?"
"Adrian."
"And I'm Gelid." The ice dog piped in.
"Well, I'm Kyanosa Canopus."
"So what is that umbrella supposed to do?" Adrain asked.
Kyanosa had been swinging the umbrella back and worth as they walked.
"Well, it'll come in handy if it rains."
"If it rains?"
"Well, what else do you use umbrellas for?"
"I don't think I've ever heard of an umbrella before, so I wouldn't know." Gelid said.
Kyanosa blinked at Gelid. "Hmm...well I've never seen a huge talking dog before, but you don't see me complaining. Now it works like this." The human struck a pose, and with a flourish, opened the umbrella. "There."
"And so that keeps rain off your head. Interesting." Gelid said.
"Hey look, there's instructions inside. Guess it does do something else after all." Kyanosa looked up inside the umbrella. "Very cool."
Gelid twisted his head to look inside the umbrella, so Adrian was the only one left to notice they had wandered out of the town, and started across a huge, flat plain.
